Roommate and I were craving Chinese, but had no intention of driving out (yes, lazy lazy lazy). Like most Chinese restaurants, the menu is extensive. We ordered chicken and broccoli, veggie mushu, and hot and sour soup. Ooh and a big plus about the soup is that you can tell them to skip the pork, which is fantastic for a vegetarian. While it's cheap, the flavor is definitely all there and the portions are surprisingly large. Food came in about 40 minutes. We even got free soda (which is now going to waste since neither of us drink it, but it was a nice gesture). So, if our experience was so awesome, why did I dock an entire star? I really wasn't crazy about the service. It wasn't so much the delivery dude, but the lady who answered the phone who sounded annoyed and rushed. For carry-out Chinese food in Baltimore, this is where to go! Nothing fancy, no frills, and they don't claim to be something they're not. Small storefront with a few chairs to wait for your order inside (we always choose carry-out.) Every time I've stopped in, the place is hopping and the phones are ringing off the hook. Give 'em a break if they sound abrupt or don't coddle you on the phone - they're extremely busy and trying to get your food cooked as fast as possible. Everything is always yummy and consistent. This is my go-to Chinese take out place. They are quick and offer freebies! The staff is friendly enough and efficient in taking your order. Some of my favorite dishes include their dumplings, Singapore noodles, and General Tso's chicken. It may not be authentic, but it still tastes delicious. If you buy over $20 worth of food, which my husband and I normally do, you get a free order of crab rangoon. They also offer free delivery which I have not tried out yet. read more

It's definitely sub par americanized Chinese food. I've had better for the price range, but it is super convenient delivery for the Patterson Park area. There was nothing sketchy about the quality of meat in my chicken and broccoli (I went simple for our first experience.) That being said, it didn't really have any flavor. They use a lot of sugar and not a lot of anything else. The egg drop soup was alright, just not my style. It had a syrupy composition and tasted strongly of chicken stock and chives. It was light on the egg too, which is why I get *egg* drop soup. My boyfriend got a beef dish and it was surprisingly spicy but otherwise lacking in any depth. I ate some of his baby corn anyway. They gave us what I've figured out from other reviews were "crab rangoons" aka fried triangles stuffed with cream cheese and a smidge of crab if you're lucky. Maybe we got a bad batch because other reviewers seem to love em. Price was good. $25 for both of us. Delivery took a full hour at 8pm on a Saturday night. To be expected. The food is typical Americanized "Cantonese" Chinese take-out. The food is super average (for a take-out place) and the service leaves something to be desired. That being said, I have no issues with a curt owner who is all about business and rarely smiles. That is what the lady owner here is like, so don't enter here expecting to receive a warm smile and a "have a nice day." With these expectations, you'll do perfectly fine ordering here. Firstly, to clarify, this is an Americanized American Chinese restaurant. Anything spicy they make it sweet. They generally seem to use more sugar in the sauces. And things might be fried before they are made in a dish (so check if you don't want anything fried). Be warned if you are on any special diets. I can't say it's very consistent. I find Oriental Wok (down the street) to be more consistent all around. Their crab rangoon is pretty good. Prices are very reasonable. read more

My go-to take out place for Chinese food. In fact, I now refuse to order Chinese from any other local places. They offer delivery which is nice so you don't have to go through OrderUp or Uber eats which keeps the price a little lower. They also give you a free soda or crab rangoon depending on the price of your order! They're fast, relatively friendly, and the food is always good. I have been moderately happy with the other chinese place I usually order from ( they are on Eat24.com, so it makes ordering very simple) but after reading many positive Yelp reviews, I decided to give China House a try. Been here twice within a few weeks. Good food, good portions, at a good price. I've had the spring rolls and tofu with spicy garlic sauce both times, and it was good. Other people I've gone with have ordered the General Tso's Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and the Shrimp, and everyone has liked what they had. The great thing is based on what you order, you can typically get something for free (soda, crab rangoon, or entire entree). Good for take out if you live in the area. I thought my dinner was delicious ! I ordered the chicken egg foo young and Szechuan wontons. Do not pass up these wontons! Other people ordered moo-goo gai pan-was just okay, Szechuan beef-good. Everyone agreed the jumbo shrimp was not worth it. Over pounded flat and over breaded. The egg rolls were HUGE but I didn't care for it compared to those wontons!! I don't really understand the reviews this place has received. The sweet and sour shrimp tasted like shrimp flavored funnel cake. The shrimp was tiny and the batter was so horribly thick, and caked in grease. The Lo Mein was also dripping in grease and didn't have much flavor. The eggroll and crab rangoon were extremely undercooked and still "doughy" tasting. The eggroll was fine otherwise (evn though it only had two tiny shrimp in it). The crab rangoon should be called cheese wontons, liquid cheese goo on the inside. Fried rice was okay, super plain, nothing in it lacked flavor, not even a pea or carrot. I will not be eating from here again. Oh....also, the delivery guy didn't even get out of his damn car. I understand not wanting to take the elevator up to my floor to deliver it to my door (kinda), but not even meet me in the lobby? Didn't even get out of the freaking car. The food is great, but the service is AWFUL. They messed up on my order when I asked them to change it or give a credit they got argumentative and blamed me and then after 5 mins of raising their voice at me, they offered me to replace the meal if I come tomorrow to them and then they just hung up on me. I will never eat here again. Horrible customer service. Ordered lobster lo mein, received disgusting little mud dwelling crawfish lo mein. I called to complain since they also sent the wrong soup, and was treated like a complete idiot. They told me they use "baby lobsters". I am from Texas and grew up around crawfish, I know exactly what they taste like- DIRT. We argued about this for several minutes and they would not correct the situation or even admit they do not use real lobster. I was very disappointed since our family orders from them about twice a month. Although I like their food (minus the mud bugs), I can no longer support the business of people who lie to me and do not value loyal customers. They know it is not lobster, and the right thing to do would have been to give me a refund or replace the dish. I didn't get so much as an apology. Extremely disappointed. I live in Federal Hill where there are no good Chinese options, so I resorted to delivery from across the city when I just couldn't fight my Chinese craving anymore. I ordered a large chicken lo mein, spicy schezuan wontons, and spicy schezuan bean curd with minced pork for delivery on a Sunday evening. The lady on the phone said it would take about ~50 minutes, which was definitely accurate. The portions are hefty.. I was especially surprised at the amount of wontons I got, delicious! The chicken lo mein was just okay and I was disappointed that there was barely any chicken and certainly lacked in veggies. I ended up sprucing up the noodles in my wok because they needed more sauce. All in all, reliable service and a generous helping of food for only $20 and now I have many meals covered. I've ordered crab rangoon there...was great the first time. The second time I did it, I got something that was not their crab rangoon - cream cheese with onions. I like my egg drop soup. And here it tasted "metally" not sure if it is because it is premade, or it sat too long from the night before. Otherwise, it sounds like they are "fighting" when they are talking. Lol.
