So glad I found this place on Yelp! Being vegetarian, it's hard to find good Chinese take out but China House has delicious tofu that is not mushy and just what you'd expect lo mein - totally satisfies my craving for fatty Chinese food. I have to say however, I won't be ordering the fried rice because I've definitely had better. On a positive note, they threw in free cream cheese wontons which was nice, and they were good. I will never eat here again. Horrible customer service. Ordered lobster lo mein, received disgusting little mud dwelling crawfish lo mein. I called to complain since they also sent the wrong soup, and was treated like a complete idiot. They told me they use "baby lobsters". I am from Texas and grew up around crawfish, I know exactly what they taste like- DIRT. We argued about this for several minutes and they would not correct the situation or even admit they do not use real lobster. I was very disappointed since our family orders from them about twice a month. Although I like their food (minus the mud bugs), I can no longer support the business of people who lie to me and do not value loyal customers. They know it is not lobster, and the right thing to do would have been to give me a refund or replace the dish. I didn't get so much as an apology. Extremely disappointed. Don't tell my boyfriend I secretly like this place! I'm not the biggest fan of Chinese food so I never suggest we get it, but this is a really solid place to get Chinese takeout. The food here is hot and fresh and the portions are massive! I'm a boring shrimp lo mein kind of girl and the shrimp lo mein here is delicious. The egg rolls are also an excellent choice! Most importantly, you won't have to wait long at all for your order to be ready. Who knows.. maybe I'll venture out of my comfort zone and order something new next time! If you really want to get hooked on this place, try the fried donuts. These are not your standard Chinese buffet fried donuts. These fried donuts are game changers. They're hot, fresh, fluffy and sweet. Seriously sinful in the best way! My first experience with China House was pretty good. I live in Federal Hill where there are no good Chinese options, so I resorted to delivery from across the city when I just couldn't fight my Chinese craving anymore. I ordered a large chicken lo mein, spicy schezuan wontons, and spicy schezuan bean curd with minced pork for delivery on a Sunday evening. The lady on the phone said it would take about ~50 minutes, which was definitely accurate. The portions are hefty.. I was especially surprised at the amount of wontons I got, delicious! The chicken lo mein was just okay and I was disappointed that there was barely any chicken and certainly lacked in veggies. I ended up sprucing up the noodles in my wok because they needed more sauce. All in all, reliable service and a generous helping of food for only $20 and now I have many meals covered. We were hungry for Chinese one rainy Saturday but didn't feel like leaving the house to get it. After pulling up Yelp to find somewhere that delivered we stumbled across China House and decided to give it a try. I'm pleased to say that it was pretty good and will definitely order from here again. They have a dinner combo which gives you almost any entree, fried rice and an egg roll for $6.95. A bit excessive? Perhaps. But we live down the street and this place makes it wayy too easy to not eat from there. Prices are very fair, food comes in hot, and delivery takes no time at all. The least effort I've ever put into a meal to feel very rewarded after its consumption. With that being said this is the only Chinese food place I will order from in Baltimore City. Best Chinese in the neighborhood! We're always happy with how quick they are and the customer service is great. I generally get tofu and veggies in garlic sauce - spicy and flavorful! Their tofu is super yum. They generally give you something free (e.g., crab rangoon) when you spend a certain amount. We love this place. read more

Solid chinese food for a quick bite! I have had both the orange chicken and sesame chicken dinners and they are delicious. They come with white rice and steamed broccoli which are done just right. The crab wontons that come as appetizers are delicious, with a creamy smooth filling and very crispy exterior. As a bonus, they give you a free soda if you spend more than 10 dollars. Only downside of China House is if getting delivery, it can take over an hour even though I'm less than 5 blocks from it. I always just order as pick-up and its ready in 10 minutes! read more

I live nearby and seldom go to this place for pickup. They don't have tables on site and the place looks amazing for 1961. I order the same chicken and vegetables in garlic sauce I order every time. The reason I order this is because somewhere, somehow, I liked this one time, but I freaken forget I don't like how they make it here...damn it. I forget to tell them less sweet, and more garlic. The portions and price are great. The chicken looks solidly white meat. In the end, I will probably go back and ask for less sauce, less sweet/sour and more garlic. Probably forget again... so damn good i mean, it's not AUTHENTIC as SF chinese food, but for Baltimore, i can't complain. it's not sweet and fried chinese food for americans. it's simply chinese food made by actual chinese people (yes, they exist in Baltimore and yes they do speak chinese), which makes me order delivery from them at least twice a week my routine: go to work, get home after a very long day, call them on my way to the gym in my building, work out for about 30 mins, hop in the shower for 5 mins, and they are at my door. try the Hunan shrimp, shrimp with snow peas, and any of their classic chicken dishes. Hot and sour was bland without the salty crispy noodles in it. Kung Pao... they give you a ton of it, but it was kind of flavorless and I ended up not finishing. Post work out and craving some Chinese food on a rainy day, found this place and glad I did! I ordered the sesame chicken lunch special it came with a spring roll. I happily stumbled across China House a couple of years ago and have to say that it has never disappointed. First things first: for a relatively cheap Chinese takeout/delivery place, this place well deserves five stars. It's inexpensive, the food is delicious, and the portion sizes and service are beyond reproach. Last weekend, my girlfriend and I ordered a large egg drop soup, General Tso's Chicken, Mongolian Beef, pork fried rice, and vegetable lo mein. The food arrived to our door step in about 45 minutes, in advance of the 50-55 minutes we were quoted over the phone. Everything smelled and tasted absolutely delicious, and the delivery included ample amounts of different sauces and 5 free crab rangoons. Ugh, so good! The price is really quite reasonable--maybe $30-35 for all of the food we ordered above. The portion sizes are pretty much on par with most Chinese takeout places, which means that the average person can eat the same entree for 2-3 meals. And it's a nice touch that they pair your address with your phone number so that the next time you order they know where to deliver it. All in all, I think it really hits all the marks for a Chinese delivery place--it's fairly cheap, you get lots of food, the food is delicious, and the service is fast and convenient. We will definitely be ordering from here next time we're feeling lazy and want Chinese. read more

Hey Yelpers I have ordered from China House for over 2 years with the same credit card every time, and today I have OFFICIALLY ended our relationship. Every time I call, it is beyond loud and I have to yell my card number over the phone. Last month I ordered a meal and they INCORRECTLY took my credit card number down. Because of this their transaction charged someone else's credit card. I call today to order like I always do, and after informing me of the situation, I kindly offered to pay last months cost with the same credit card number I've been using for 2 YEARS (I asked them to check their records). However, they denied me service accusing me that I gave them a fake credit card number- a number that I don't even recognize. They DENIED ME SERVICE BASED ON THEIR MISTAKE. Then they went on arguing about how I was a credit card thief and stole credit card numbers from everyone in Baltimore. Because I obviously do that in my little free time outside of graduate school. I just want y'all to know that their service is HORRIBLE and it is a POORLY-RUN BUSINESS. If they make a mistake, it's ALL YOUR FAULT. This is a warning! Delivery has been taking an hour or more (and we live less than a mile away, usually don't order too much), everything has been tasting stale and flavorless. Asked for white meat with my General Tso's chicken, instead got nasty, tough, stringy chunks of jerky that were almost impossible to chew.
