Orderd the crispy spring rolls for the appetizer, when they arrived to the table it looked more like oil soup with veggies mixed in. For the main entrees we ordered the crispy and Sesame tofu, both of which were aesthetically displeasing at first glance. After taking a bite, the two had a terrible texture and dipping sauce that had the viscosity of molasses. This is an interesting concept to cheap Chinese food. A little more healthy take on the whole thing. They offer no MSG and grease laden dishes that make you feel a little better about what you are eating. I had to use a bunch of soy sauce to compensate, which I don't know if that is doing anything to help the cause. The egg rolls and soup were good. I like the vermicelli options here. There needs to be a flavor factor if you are going to modify the classic dishes. It is too hard to find Chinese food in El Paso. I have been to this restaurant twice before with an ok outcome so today I decided to take my boyfriend who had not been. What a mistake. I ordered the Teryaki chicken and it was literally the worst tasting chicken I have ever had. It must have been microwaved and did not taste the way chicken should. Even the appearance was displeasing. The sauce was also terrible. My boyfriend ordered Sesame chicken and it also had a fake taste to. All in all I will never return here. Went to China House for the first time this evening. The food was very good, reasonably priced and sizable portions. We had the beef lo mein and Gen. Zsou. Both very tasty. Service was a little slow but they were very busy (good sign) and when the good came, it was super hot; obviously freshly made. We also had the spring rolls. Yum. read more

Great food! Better than any other Chinese restaurant I have tried in El Paso. The breading was not soggy and over fried, there was alot of meat in the entrees and well sautéed vegetables. Over the years I have literally spent hundreds of dollars at this restaurant to feed my family mostly for take out. It isn't the best Chinese restaurant but it is our neighborhood restaurant and we support local. Today I came to the restaurant after buying a drink at Bahama Bucks with the intention of eating at the restaurant instead of taking food to go. After sitting for five minutes the owner tells the waiter to tell me to either order food to go or get out because they do not allow other food in the restaurant. I am writing this review because I want the owners to know that they have lost a loyal customer. I understand that they may have rules about outside food, but I could have been asked nicely by the owner who should know me by now instead of being handed the paper menu and being asked to leave. i felt bad for the waiter who was embarrassed to approach me. I won't be back and that is too bad because small restaurants need to be supported, but in turn they should also value their customers. Checking yelp for a friendlier restaurant. read more

I love china house! All their food is freshly prepared all day everyday! Everything tastes great every time I go and the family who runs it is amazing! They cook in the back talk to customers in the front and really run an amazing business! And the brother and sister servers Joseph and Sarah are great as well! called and asked if they had egg rolls and the person answering said no and hung up on me. I called back asking to speak to a manager and was told he WAS the manager. I stated that he surely must have accidentally hung up on me and he stated..."no...you're wasting my time" and hung up again. Each time he claimed his name was Joe. We then called our old favorite Peking Garden. I wouldn't order from this place if they gave it away with an attitude like his. I seriously doubt that he was a manager as someone with an attitude like that couldn't possibly run a profitable business. read more

It is always hard to find good Chinese food while I am traveling on business. The black pepper chicken at China House was great. The chicken was tender and had a great flavor. The sautéed vegetables taste great, but there are too many, in my opinion. The owners prepare the food in some capacity (I think), help serve the entree, and even follow up with diners. The evening hostess and server, Sarah, was the total package (professionally speaking). She was friendly, personable, professional, and efficient all at the same time. Our server Joe was very rude. After eating a delicious order of 3 spring rolls my wife couldn't get past the hard wontons and watery soup. We politely asked to exchange the soup with less then three sips taken from it and Joe said "no, i will order you another one and you will have to pay for both." I tried to explain further that she my wife didn't like the soup and he made it clear he could care less. Joe was almost confrontational. The owner wasn't available so we paid for our teas, three soups and spring rolls and passed on the main course. We will never go back there ever again! I have been to China House many times and had never had any complaints, that is until a co-worker and myself visited the place last week. I ordered a plate of sweet and sour chicken, and when I took a bite of the the chicken, it tasted horrible. I softly told the woman, who is either the manager or owner, that something was wrong with the dish. She tried to convince me that the dish only needed extra sauce so she proceeded to provide me with the extra sauce. I tasted the side of sauce that she brought to the table and told her that the problem was not the sauce, that the problem was the chicken. She became bothered I could tell, but she did bring me a different plate. Well when it came time to pay instead of splitting the ticket like we asked her to do, she automatically charged my debit card the total bill and then told me that she was going to lose profit for the day because of the plate of bad chicken I had refused to eat. For those that do decide to eat at this establishment I hope that you never have an experience like mine. I will defenitely never go back and neither will my co-worker. So this lady not only lost revenue that day but also future revenue. read more
