Several years ago, this used to be the go to spot for Chinese in the area. Not sure why I keep seeing five star ratings. The last several times the food has been mediocre best. My family ordered three meals tonight and the food was absolutely terrible. It taste like the chicken has been sitting around since yesterday. The fried rice pretty much the same pork was way overcooked. Most of the rice was hard and it looked burned. Looks like it's time to start driving to Beckett Ridge or further for decent Chinese takeout. Do better China House. read more

I am so happy that I found this treasure somehow in Hamilton Ohio. I'll say that the flavors here are great, I love how they will season to taste. I'd also recommend having them up the spice levels for you. I love to mix different sauces and meats to make my dish. read more

My wife and I stopped in at the China House for a late lunch. We both ordered combo plates - shrimp lo mein and shrimp with lobster sauce. Both were delicious with lots and lots of shrimp. Huge portions so we got another meal to boot. Also, these came with a side of pork fried rice at no extra charge over white rice. Some of the tastiest fried rice ever! The accompanying egg roll was just ok. This appears to be a Mom and Pop operation with both sharing cooking and serving duties. Very kind and friendly folks. The decor is not fancy, it's simple, clean and pleasant. All in all an enjoyable dining experience and good value for your money. read more

Was in the neighborhood and decided to give this place a try. I looked up their menu prior to going in to order and saw they had listed an option for a small and large size. I tried to order the small when I arrived and the guy told me they "weren't doing smalls." So I ended up paying over $13 for something that should have cost around $8 per the menu on their own website. I ordered shrimp chow mein. I specified I wanted chow mein and not rice and they gave me wonton strips (I guess their version of chow mein) and white rice. The shrimp was in vegetables swimming in oil. There was a lady working there that spent the entire time yelling at someone on her cellphone in her native language. Literally yelling. I'm glad my order was to-go. I couldn't have listened to that if I was dining in. All in all it was not a good experience and I won't be going back. read more

This is not only my favorite Chinese restaurant but one of my overall favorite restaurants period. Food is always hot and fresh tasting. Service is always quick and so polite. I think the ratings are fair for China House. Food is OK, not great. Service was good and I had a walk in take out order. Waited about 10 min to get my fresh cooked order which was great. That of food was ok. My General Tso chicken was too hard and the sauce very thick and heavy for me and the fried rice looked and tasted overdone but I ate all of it so not too bad. This has to be the single worst Chinese food I've ever had in my life I didn't get through more than a couple of bites. The egg roll was alright quite small. I got the Szechuan chicken and it was supposed to be hot? It wasn't at all no spice the chicken wasn't seasoned it tasted so bland the rice suffered from the same problems it all together combined with the soggy veggies it tasted like a frozen green giant meal from the back of dollar general. China House is small, well-run family-owned restaurant serving the typical, 150+ item Chinese-American menu. What I appreciate about this place is their consistency. Over several visits, we've tried the Mei Fun, Chicken with Chinese Vegatables, Lo Mein, Boneless Chicken special and others. All have been well-balanced, fresh tasting and well-portioned...every time. I often come back to the Chicken Lo Mein and ask them to make it extra spicy. They are spot-on with the right amount of heat. This location is about 10 minutes away. I call, order, jump in the car and its usually ready when I arrive. I'm a fan. read more

I was debating on whether to go 3 or 4 stars. It's just ok. I got takeout lunch and got cashew chicken. It wasn't bad, it was just much different than I've had before. The sauce was thick and very red/brown. Cashew chicken I've had in the past has a very light colored sauce and is light on the sauce in general. Also, they went very heavy on the celery and carrots; stew like. Egg drop soup was very good. The reason I went with 3 rather than 4 is because I am a crab Rangoon snob. Their Rangoon is triangle shaped rather than the typical shape. Also I prefer a light/flaky crust and theirs is extremely thick and lots of it; chewy. Also beware, I asked for a side of Rangoon because they don't give you any with the lunch special (as most places give you a choice of two or an egg roll), and I ended up with 10! For lunch, and it was just as expensive as my entire lunch. I do love some Rangoon but that is way too many for lunch. I've yet to find a great Chinese place in the area. Will never go to this place again. Just experienced the worst customer service with the rude staff that works there. My husband came home with a carry out order that was wrong. I called to try and remedy this and the young girl who took his order screamed at me would not let me talk and would not fix our order. Uuugghh.. would love to find a good hole in the wall chineese place.. this was just not it. Was craving some house special soup.. if i wanted great I would have went Thai.. this soup had 0 flavor. Was definitely Hearty and because of that i expected some flavor. Not 1 shake of seasoning was used. We also got teriyaki chicken on a stick. This was OK. However the teriyaki beef was borderline beef Jerky ( no exaggeration). The lo mein was good . The fried rice was dry and flavorless. So.. $50 and we threw the left overs away :( sorry but this is my honest opinion and I'm not a picky person.. i would eat rat if it was cooked right. Sometimes I just don't think people care. China House in Princeton Rd of Liberty Twp is my favorite Chinese restaurant. It is a very clean, friendly, family run restaurant . My kids love their lo mein and sweet and sour chicken. Their steam chicken and vegetable is very healthy which is good for my husband who needs to watch his blood sugar.Their owner/chef is the head chef from an upscale authentic restaurant of New Yourk City. He invents some his own dishes, such as mango shrimp/beef and walnut shrimp. They are very delicious and special. His spring roll is different from the other Chinese restaurant . I think it is the best spring roll I ever have in Cincinnati. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. read more

Extremely rude wait staff. The food offered is mediocre at best for the high price. I ordered a Mongolian chicken dish that was at least 90% onions. I went back to the store to see if I could get more chicken since the chicken was scarce in the dish (especially considering it was $12 I paid for onions). As far as the local (within 2-3 miles) Chinese restaurants go; China House is pretty good. Especially for your typical carry-out/fast food type. Fast to prepare and large portions for the same price. We have had; fried rice, Singapore Mei Fun, Sweet and Sour Chicken, egg rolls, shrimp rolls. All were pretty delicious. The staff is fairly bland and short/curt, but the food is good. read more

While this is your typical Chinese place, they are very high priced. Here is a good example ......Chicken fried rice is ridiculous priced and it's basically rice with a few bits of chicken. In order to make it half way comparable to other places you'll need to add extra chicken for $2 and add extra egg for a whopping $1 and even with the extras it's still less then you get at most places. So now your up to a $10 cup of fried rice. I don't mind paying for something if I get what I payed for but its not the case here. You should never have to "extra" every ingredient to get what other places already do. And this is just one example of a cheap norm at a Chinese place.
