Definitely a step up from your standard mediocre Chinese-Americanized places usually found in Indiana. It is a real hole in the wall, but there is definitely a more authentic flavor to their dishes. We ordered Yang Chow fried rice and Singapore noodles - authentic flavor and not too oily. Also had steamed dumplings and fried chicken wings which were tasty. Found this place a few months ago. Pretty good Chinese food and the price is more reasonable than some of the other places around. We always get the dumplings which are tasty and the sauce is much better than other dumpling sauces I have had. We love this restaurant! It's in our neighborhood, so we're frequent customers. They have a large and diverse menu, and the food is consistently good. The owners are kind and helpful, and the hours are perfect for being close to a college. They are also open lots of holidays (like Christmas) when finding another restaurant can be a challenge. we tried for the first time. Some hits and misses. the pork fired rice was rwally food and not oily at all. Shrimp egg foo yung was dynamite, crab rabgoon were ok, mongolian beef had too much star anise for me, the vegetable lo mein was really good though. The general tsos chicken was great tasting but mostly breading and a bit short on chicken. Man, this place rules! My gf and I eat Christmas dinner here every year. Family owned. They even have their young children working here. The mom is totally hot and gives me free egg rolls. I have have had take out here several times. The food was cheap and delicious. The chicken in black bean sauce is really good as well as the vegetable lo mein. When ordering take out I think the longest I have had to wait is 20 minutes. I highly recommend it. read more

I was introduced to China House by a neighbor a few months ago and it's become my go to place for take out "American Asian" food. I love Lemon Chicken and theirs is the best I've had! The prices are great, the portions are as huge as the menu is long, I've never been disappointed with a menu selection and when they say "food ready 10 minute" they mean it! China House is in an unimposing store front on Mishawaka Avenue [River Park area I think] but don't let that sway your decision, the food is great! Word of advice, they have a $10.00 minimum order before they accept plastic, totally understandable since like any other retailer, they have to pay a transaction fee. We got the Kung Poa chicken and orange chicken. The meat is all dark fatty pieces. My wife thought it was canned meat. I think they buy cheap thigh meat. The sauce was bland and the only flavor was the heat. The rice was flavorless and dry. Just moved to Walkerton and will never eat there again. This small mom-and-pop restaurant has good food with generous portions -- but the real draw is the hospitality. A recent visit with a large group (and it's none too big!) was greeted with kindness, and the 'mom' was very accomodating to the older members of the party.
