Like most Chinese joints, this restaurant is all over the place. It met expectations for a delivery order on a Friday night. The good - the wonton egg drop soup was perfect for my sore throat with a perfect consistency, the pan fried dumplings were hot and flavorful with a solid sauce to go with, the egg rolls were generously filled and perfectly cooked - very addictive. The decent - the chicken lo mein was fine enough. It is much better than others I've had in this area; however, that doesn't say much for the flavorless offerings I've had around here. The orange chicken, regrettably, was far and away much more flavorful than the sesame chicken I ordered. The fried rice is also solid. Not the best, but good enough for a side of rice. The never again - the crispy noodles were stale - luckily they're only a couple bucks. The sesame chicken has huuuuge chunks of chicken in a not-flavorful-enough sauce, which leaves a lot to be desired for me. At least put in some more variety of vegetables or something if you're gonna phone in a whole main dish. As a whole, China Inn is a quick, easy, solid choice for local Chinese here. Went today for lunch. I had Szechuan chicken husband had sweet-and-sour chicken. My Szechuan chicken was delicious lots of vegetables cooked crisp and just right all the food that came out was nice and hot. They have a lunch special for between 10 and $12 which is a refreshing change since so many places recently have gotten so expensive. We had sesame chicken, sweet and sour combo, and special lo mein, all dinner combos. The fried rice was moist, sesame chicken was crispy, and the lo mein was flavorful. Warning, eat here at your own risk! I was craving some General Tso's chicken. I got take out. The person at the counter was yelling and in a big rush even though there were only two tables in the restaurant. When I got home and ate my food, it was gross. The breaded and fried chicken was dried out and like leather inside. You couldn't cut it with a fork, you had to use a sharp knife to kind of shred it. It was like it was cooked before, frozen, and then reheated. There was little to no sauce to help. The fried rice also was very dry and crumbly like it had been reheated. I threw most of it away. Thats not the worst of it, for the next 2 days I got really sick with horrible stomach cramps, sweats, and frequent diarrhea that that was so bad, it actually made me suffer a few days more from dehydration. I ordered the beef broccoli and sweet and sour shrimp that was fried and I was expecting something else but it was fine. This was no big deal. The fried rice was bland, not much flavor and for the beef and broccoli, the beef and sauce were ok. The broccoli was the best part of this plate. What really bothered me about my visit here is that when I asked about the sweet and sour plate they sounded upset that I was asking about it. Very rude staff and disrespectful, we came in today around 2:30pm there was not a single person in the restaurant we were seated at a table and they asked us what we wanted to drink, they brought the water and the straws were thrown at our table, again the place was empty the person that was taking our order got a call and walked away impatiently without saying anything and a waitress came by almost running she was about to take our order when my mom was telling me (in our native language) what she had ordered before because we had been here before but the service was never this terrible. I told the waitress that my mom liked from the lunch menu a specific order with orange chicken, rice and vegetables and if she could recommend us something similar and she rolled her eyes in a very disrespectful way and in a rude tone she said that that was all on the menu, she did not make any recommendations. She wanted us to assume when we were asked her (someone who works at this restaurant) about something as simple as a recommendation. We walked away from this restaurant. FOOD: 1st time as a patron to this restaurant, since I live near-by and was looking for a late lunch (1:25 PM; Jan. 19, 2024.) Simple order of Hot & Sour Soup, steamed dumplings and spring rolls; hot tea as beverage. The meal was a total failure. Soup was thin, lacking solids of mushrooms, tofu or any other vegetative content. The base consisted mainly of soy sauce and water; lacking a usual accompaniment of crispy noodles, green onion, or hot mustard. Lastly, soup should be served at a temperature above room temperature. Why the steamed dumplings had a brown caramelization to them, I don't know. But, they were served in a dish that also held about 3 tablespoons of water in which the dumplings floated in. A small dish of what I think was to be a dumpling sauce was only soy: no other flavor could be detected. Lastly, spring rolls are supposed to be light in weight and crispy! Of the two, one had been in the frying oil too long; it was near shoe-leather brown in color; the second one was still won-ton soft and light brown in color. SERVICE: My server would quickly bring the order items and then have a seat to look into her phone; never once returning to see if the food was satisfactory; just once, to place the check on my table. My delivery came relatively quick. I wanted to try something new so I got the steamed dumplings, they were okay I love sweet and salty dipping the sauce. I also got the shrimp fried rice with fried fish on top. Again, I really like the sauce on it, and everything else was ok. The flavor was really good here. ** COVID RISK** PLEASE READ. Owner is so unbelievably rude. Customer service there sucks also. They gave me a wrong to go order that I dropped off at a friends house that had symptoms of covid. She called me and told me the order was wrong and had pork in it which she does not eat. Called the restaurant they said just come back and they would get me the right order. I got there and the owner argued with me that I had to bring the food back which was never mentioned on the phone they just said to come back and then he would give me the correct order. When I was there a 2nd time I told him that my friend had symptoms of covid and that was unsanitary to bring back he still insisted he wouldn't give me the correct order unless I bring it back in person. He said I was a liar and probably ate the food and just wanted more free food. How horrible to say to a customer and also to one that has been coming there for a while. The Family Dinner is an especially good deal at $13.25. It is your choice of soup, 3 small appetizers, an entree, and your choice of steamed or fried rice. If ordered for 1 adult, it should last you 2-3 average-sized meals. The perks for me are 1) they are open 7 days a week, 2) I can order online, 3) they have quick delivery (free within a certain area), and 4) you don't have to order or have it delivered through an outside company. Another place I've been to before my Yelp days and this place I've gone a few times for lunch. Food: I ordered their lunch special broccoli Beef with rice, an eggroll and wonton soup. One of the safest dishes I would order at a Chinese restaurant, it was okay compared to other dishes of the same. I prefer the meat being cooked a little bit more and the sauce to have a bit of a zing, than kind of watered down flavor. The soup was decent, not the best wonton soup and the eggroll felt more like a filler. Overall: I feel I'm being a little harsh on the food, but I understand that this is suppose to be a lunch special. However, I don't believe it should been more than ten bucks, but this is the only Chinese food place around this area, other than Panda Express that's not fast food.
