This is an older, dimly lit cafe type seating with a very small dining area. The people running the restaurant seem very nice and quick service. I ordered the General Tso lunch special to go, and it came with fried rice, eggroll, and wonton soup for $8.50. The portions that they serve are huge and can easily be eaten for two meals or two people. I started by eating the wonton soup that was nice and warm, a little over salted, but had a good taste with the wonton strips. My chicken was not spicy at all, but the taste was just OK. I felt like it needed more spices. My chicken fried rice was the same. It had bits of carrots and peas in it but more on the bland side. The best part of the meal in my opinion was the wonton soup and the eggroll. The food was good, it was just OK. We love China Star and I finally remembered to take a pic of my food before devouring it this time -- my favorite part about the menu is that they offer a combination dinner plate where you can eat select two different entrées, which I usually get the chicken and broccoli and vegetable lo mein. Cheap, fast, and nice service! Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal. She was so sweet and a fast worker! The egg drop soup, wow, chef kiss. I haven't had good egg drop soup in who knows how long. The serving sizes were HUGE! No one finished their plates and we had tons of left overs! Half of the seating area was closed off, not to sure why. All right, I have been going here since 2016. This is a very small family oriented restaurant.. it's probably easier for you to order to go because they have a lot of the area blocked off since Covid, it's very dark in here however, it is so cheap. I know that a lot of people are comparing this to authentic Chinese food or a very expensive high and Chinese food. However, if you're looking for a cheap price and a lot of food, I think that this is the way to go.. the lo mein is very good , you can ask for spicy and it's pretty good. I've gotten the peppered steak and that's also good.. their eggrolls are so good I personally order multiple. I normally don't order raccoons because I feel like the tips get a little too crispy, regardless of a place that I go to, however to each their own. Absolutely loved this little place! It's not pretty outside or that pretty inside either, but I kinda like that about it. The lights were pretty dim and it was kinda cozy in my opinion. We came during lunch special and was greeted and seated quickly. I came here the 1st time to try it and the second time because my coworkers made me! Yes, they held a gun to my head, lol! It is a DARK, DUSTY, and DIRTY place. Use hand sanitizer after touching anything in here. The menus look like when something has spilled on them, they just let it dry and flake off. It is so dark, you can miss how dirty and dusty everything is. I started to worry about critters since our table was against a wall and there is not enough light to see under the table. I periodically turned the light on on my phone to make sure there was nothing down there. It would not have surprised me to see "IT" under there. I just kept hoping the cooking would kill anything on the food. The 1st time I tried the sesame chicken. I had asked about the Gen. Tao's chicken and sesame chicken and was told they are the same except one has onions and one has sesame seeds. The sesame chicken was too sweet and soggy, it was inedible. It tasted like the sauce was mostly corn syrup. I told the server and she switched it out with Kung Pow chicken. The Kung Pow was good, not great. The chicken was so well done it was rubbery. The fried rice was ok, again, not great. The lunch special comes with a choice of egg roll, cheese rangoon, or chicken wing. I chose an egg roll with my lunch special. The egg roll was surprisingly really good. It in fact was the best part of the meal. Unfortunately I'm not sure if it was really good or everything else was just that bad. The lunch also comes with a choice of soup. I chose wonton. The broth is pretty good, but it does not have the usual stuffed wonton noodles. The noodles are by themselves with nothing in them. The soup also comes with crispy wontons which are great. The second visit I tried the chicken Lo Mein. The chicken was overcooked and rubbery, I couldn't eat it, so I picked it out. The lo mein was pretty traditional, nothing great. The rice was again, ok. I decided to try the rangoon this time and I didn't care for it. It did not have a good flavor. It tasted like they only put plain cream cheese in it with no other seasonings. I also got the wonton soup again and it was good especially with the crispy wontons. When you go to the register to pay, you can see how dusty the fake plants are. The green leaves are gray they are so dusty. The place is seriously filthy! I don't plan to go back, but if a coworker brings me an egg roll, I can't say I would turn it down. The 1 star is for the egg roll and the soup with the crispy wontons. read more

Keep in mind that for $6.47 each, each had a very healthy helping of the entree, rice (you have options for white, fries or noodles), a pork egg roll, your choice of additional egg roll, (2) cheese rangoon or a chicken wing... I know, right? Anyway, it also comes with your choice of soup (the usual options, won ton, hot n sour, egg drop). Sodas are Coke products and they also have iced tea. The Chinese couple that owns and runs the place is efficient and no-nonsense. Give them your order and let them take over. Take out took about 15 minutes from giving them the order to walking out of the joint. They forgot to give me the egg rolls that were ordered but that's nothing. I'll get it back next time.
