Asa young person I couldn't stand the aroma in the restaurant But now in my 80's I enjoy their food. I have always been treated kindly and the delivery has always been prompt and the food is HOT. I am totally disgusted. While the new family that runs China jade has done a terrific job with food quality, my issue is with the host . I had to call in a last minute to go order . As I walked in I noticed an old pick of China land . I remembered fondly of my grandmother taking us kids there 50 years ago. I relayed to the host that my grandmother would be happy they were doing well 50 years later. But he didn't give two shits. He took my card and continued picking wax or whatever from his ear. After reaching some sort of success , he looked at it with the look like he was going to eat it. At that point he handed over the slip with the customary tip choices . I cringed because I just don't see the reason I should tip a host for doing nothing but handing over a bag packed in the kitchen . But I left a couple bucks regardless . Got sick again. Got sick 3 times in a year. Kevin who takes you're to go orders, has zero sense of hospitality. When a customer for many years comes back to the restaurant 3 times with the food that made us sick. Never once showed empathy, never asked how is the customer, no apology and No refund, made it as if we are at fault. If he can't handle the situation he always calls someone and that person gives Kevin the final answer. "There's nothing we can do ". The fryerlator oil is very old. There should be a separate fryerlater for seafood and another for the rest of the food. Chicken wings shouldn't taste like seafood. Let's move onto the crab Rangoon's. Shouldn't it have crab in it? Got takeaway Friday evening - went with combo plate with fried rice. Rice was fresh, the beef teriyaki was fatty, flavorless and barely edible. The crab Rangoon was like yellow dumpling and very soggy - no crisp to it. The egg roll could of been cooked longer but it was not bad otherwise. Our regular Chinese food place was closed during the pandemic so we took a chance and ordered from China Jade last night. The ginger sauce that accompanied the scallion pancakes was spectacular. It was thicker like bbq sauce and stuck onto the pancakes after dipping. It was different than any other we have ever had. The food otherwise was standard pupu platter fare and we enjoyed it alot. My boyfriend picked it up and commented that the young man and woman at the counter were assisting an elderly patron ahead of him and they were extremely kind and patient which was wonderful to hear. When they're good, they're great. When they're bad, they're really bad. I'm giving a middle rating of 3 stars because this place really seems to vary between "oh, that was SOOO good" and "WHY did I get food here tonight?". I've noticed that there's a pattern of poor food quality if you order anything anytime after the dinner rush dies down - so, if you're looking for crab rangoon and chicken fingers that are brown and cooked in old oil, or boneless ribs that are just strips of fat with a nibble of meat on them, order after 8pm. My guess is that earlier in the day they're cooking to order but later at night you're getting whatever excess was prepared for the dinner rush and it's been sitting in the oil for hours. But when they're food isn't looking like it's old and overcooked, it really is pretty good for Chinese food. And, of course, from my drinking days, I remember that their spirits were pretty potent. Oh - and if you ever ask for extra duck sauce, check the bag before you leave. The meals/combos normally get a 4oz sauce with the order if you order it as is. So I'll ask for extra sauce, even offer to pay for the extra, expecting to then at least get the included 4oz sauce plus another one of either same or even a smaller size. Nope. I've checked the bag to discover that I got the same amount of sauce, no extra, that comes included - only it will be the 4oz split into two 2oz containers. "Extra sauce" does not mean "Please put same amount of sauce into extra containers." But, hey - at least they don't charge for the extra labor. read more

Sorry to have to leave this review, as I've been a customer for many years. I've just been served too much bad food lately not to complain. I think that there has been at least one ownership change in the last couple of years. The food had gotten much better for a little while, but now the quality of food has really fallen off again. My experiences have ranged from average, to inedible. On more than one occasion, I've picked at the food while there, & then tossed the take home leftovers the next day. My last experience was this: Beef Teriyaki was just OK. Pork Chop Suey sucked. Very fatty, gristly pork. I picked out a few pieces, then nibbled at the veggies. Next day, I saw that virtually all of the pork in the Chop Suey was similarly inedible. I put the entire thing in the trash. There is no excuse to serve substandard food like this. Service, & the Mai Tais are still good, but not good enough to tolerate the consistently bad food. Every year we visit the North Shore, where I am originally from, and our first stop before checking into our hotel is China Jade Restaurant. We order egg rolls, pork strips and subgum chicken chow mein! Outstanding food and service. Don't get the other negative reviews. We come over 3,000 miles to eat here. By the way they don't make egg rolls as good as you folks do on the east coast here in California and they have no such thing as port strips!!!! The subgum is great in and of itself.
