A great family-owned restaurant. Service is always friendly, and top-notch. The food never disappoints and portion sizes are generous.

My dine-in lunch experience was good. The chicken with vegetables was brought to my table 22 minutes after I ordered at the table. There was a generous portion of white chicken with a fair variety of vegetables. The fried rice and spring roll were pretty good. The dining area was clean without background music, and the service was just accommodative. Overall A-OK.

The restaurant small and neat. The food was hot, fresh and very good. I had the sweet/sour chicken with spring rolls. My wife had the Szechuan chicken (spicy) with egg roll. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good Chinese food.

The Szechuan chicken tasted like it was cooked yesterday and recooked today! The chicken was very tough and dry. Very disappointed!

I finally got to try the Szechuan cold noodles that I was so excited for. The noodles were perfectly chewy and the sauce was so tasty! I also got to try the sweet potato pies. This was another dish I have been trying to find! They did not disappoint. The texture was perfect. The Szechuan spicy dumpling were good as well. I would have preferred a tad more spice and I do feel like I can get similar ones around town. The last thing I tried was the General Tso chicken. This was probably the best I have ever had. It was perfectly crispy but the inside was filled with fresh tender chicken. I have been craving this every day since I first tried it here. I cannot say enough about how amazing this place was. The staff was friendly and even helped pick out things we would like. It was clean and the food was incredible. Please check this place out because it deserves all the love.

We were looking to try a new restaurant for our Saturday outing and decided on Bamboo Penny's. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that a lot of effort went into making the dining room and bar area fun, attractive, and inviting. Although we were being seated at a two-top, we noticed the bar was wide open and decided to dine there instead. Great choice. The bartenders were engaging, attentive, and very helpful in walking us through the menu. We started with Penny's Combo Fresh Spring Rolls, Thai Spicy Sausage, Penny's Rangoon, and Crispy Egg Rolls. This was a great way to sample several appetizers, and everything was delicious. My partner ordered the Salmon Panang Curry and really enjoyed it. The salmon was cooked just right, the curry had great flavor, and the broccoli paired nicely with the dish. I went with the Tiger Cry Steak, which was a little more hit-and-miss. The Tiger Cry sauce brought plenty of heat along with some really interesting flavors. The glazed carrots were excellent, perfectly glazed with just the right tenderness. Unfortunately, the mashed potatoes were over-whipped, giving them a gummy texture. The biggest disappointment was the steak itself. The quality wasn't what I expected, the steak appeared to be a few ounces short of the advertised 12 ounces, and on its own it lacked seasoning and flavor. The intramuscular fat was also quite chewy, making portions of the steak difficult to cut and eat. That said, one disappointing entrée wouldn't keep me from returning. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, service, appetizers, and Salmon Panang Curry. Bamboo Penny's has plenty on the menu I'd like to come back and try....I'll probably just stick with the non-beef options next time. I think this lands around a 4-star review: clearly a good overall experience with one legitimate miss.

I had to go in and make sure it was my Blue Koi--and, of course, it was! The new location (compared to 39th St) has a charming atmosphere, and the menu is just as inviting and varied as I remembered. Plus some fun new cocktails including spiked Bubble tea. I went straight for a bowl; the seafood noodle bowl. I asked for a little extra spice, because I like my food with some kick, and it did not disappoint. The broth was flavorful, the seafood was plentiful and easy to identify, and there were plenty of perfectly satisfying rice noodles. I even had enough delicious broth left over that I ordered an extra portion of rice noodles to take home so I could finish the bowl later. My server, French, was attentive and just darn nice. Worth the drive for me. Sometimes a little unexpected detour turns into a very delicious discovery!

There wasn't much of a wait for our food either. Now the food. I can't say the same. There was a kids menu but no kids juices so that was disappointing. I ordered the spicy beef fried rice, the beef did not taste fresh and gave my rice a weird taste. The vegetable fried rice was dry BUT had an enjoyable blend of vegetables. The vegetable Lo mein was not flavored BUT the vegetables were thoroughly cooked. The "Chinese" doughnuts were still a bit doughy inside BUT they were surprisingly still good and I'd say were my favorite for the night. Also to note, there wasn't any prices on the dine-in menu but included on the takeout menu which I thought was different because no one wants to be surprised with their bill. Their menu consists of a lot of dishes, and some are quite unique .. you don't usually see items like bird's nest dishes at most Chinese restaurants around here except for maybe Bolings. Me and my husband visited on a Saturday night around 8 pm and really devoured our meal. The menu can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but you honestly can't go wrong with stir fries at any Chinese restaurant. For appetizers, we ordered chicken egg rolls, which were hefty and filling. For the main course, I ordered the chicken in black bean stir fry, and my husband got the shrimp Kung Pao chicken stir fry. We paired both with steamed rice. The black bean chicken was rich and earthy, with that deep, slightly funky flavor from the fermented black beans. It was very umami, salty and complimented nicely with the fresh, crisp vegetables and well-cooked chicken. I really liked it. The shrimp Kung Pao was spicy and tangy, with perfectly cooked shrimp (the fried shrimp covering was chefs kiss) and crispy veggies. Overall, we really enjoyed the food. The egg rolls were about $4 for two pieces, and the stir fries were around $17+ each. The portions are quite large compared to other places in the area, so the pricing seemed reasonable. For 2 main course dishes your bill could easily reach up to $40. Otherwise, The restaurant was clean, the staff was kind, and service was quick. It also wasn't too crowded when we visited. I would rate the service 4/5, mainly because we had to ask for silverware, condiments, and tissues separately. The food, though, is definitely a 5/5. Highly recommended! I will definitely return to have more dishes like beef chow fun, the soups and last, but not least BIRDS NEST!!
