The place itself is cute and small, looked pretty clean, and the staff were indeed friendly and checking in on us. There wasn't much of a wait for our food either. Now the food. I can't say the same. There was a kids menu but no kids juices so that was disappointing. I ordered the spicy beef fried rice, the beef did not taste fresh and gave my rice a weird taste. The vegetable fried rice was dry BUT had an enjoyable blend of vegetables. The vegetable Lo mein was not flavored BUT the vegetables were thoroughly cooked. The "Chinese" doughnuts were still a bit doughy inside BUT they were surprisingly still good and I'd say were my favorite for the night. Also to note, there wasn't any prices on the dine-in menu but included on the takeout menu which I thought was different because no one wants to be surprised with their bill. This is my third visit to Rice house. Their food quality, customer service, cleanliness & ambiance hasn't changed one bit. Cost of Lunch specials has been increased from 8.55 to 9.95 USD since my last visit. Not complaining with this current market situation. TBH, I was craving for fried rice and I ended up ordering Beef with Fresh Broccoli (one of their lunch specials) Served with Egg drop soup + Egg roll + Fried rice I have requested extra spice so they gave me chili oil. The food was amazing! We went for my sisters birthday. There Crab Rangoon and steamed dumplings are great appetizers. They have great egg drop soup as well. The General Tso's chicken was delicious. Nice people, good food. This is a little restaurant we like to visit for takeout. We have eaten in the restaurant a couple of times and it's fine. Nothing fancy here just simple tables in a cozy space with simple service. I am not sure they do a lot of dine in orders, but overall if eating in you will be ok. Maybe consider it a casual place for a quick meal. Our service has always been good and when we get takeout they often throw in some almond cookies along with the standard fortune cookies. We like to get an assortment of stuff and share amongst the family but some of our highlights are the Beijing crunchy beef and the chicken menu fun noodles. We also like the beef and broccoli and the spicy garlic beef and pork. I do tend to think their sauces get a get a bit sweet at times and I lean more into spicy, but overall I don't mind. My mom and her neighbor friend went to Rice House on Monday for lunch. She said the place was packed but service was quick. They split the General Tso's lunch special and chicken fried rice, and my mom also ordered wonton soup. Her take: Wonton Soup - Broth was good, but the wontons themselves were disappointing. Wouldn't order again. Chicken Fried Rice - Not memorable. General Tso's - Decent, not great. Sweet but not overly so, and the chicken stayed surprisingly crisp even after coming home as leftovers. She brought me a few pieces of General Tso's and some fried rice, along with one crab rangoon -- tasty but nothing special. For myself, I requested Pork in Spicy Garlic Sauce for carryout. This was the hit of the meal for me. The sauce had good flavor and wasn't overly sweet, which I appreciate. It wasn't particularly spicy, but adding sambal and sriracha took it up a notch. The pork was diced into small, easy-to-eat pieces, and the portion size was very generous for the price. We've had Yu Hsiang Chicken (always get), Moo Shu chicken (hubby's fav, we order well-done so that cabbage/veggies are softer, less raw), Combination Fried Rice (delish), Mongolian Beef, Szechuan Chicken (like flavor and veggies of Yu Hsiang better). Terrible customer service, the owner has a bad attitude and don't understand what good customer service. I've been a customer for over 15 years, I ordered shrimp fried rice and crab rangoon on a Friday night to go at 930, I got home the food did not seem fresh and the rangoon was over cook, a bit burnt. The place closed at 10pm. I called when they opened, explained to the lady that answered the phone,bought my food back with the receipt. The guy at the register told the owner, she came got the food, came back and told him nothing looks work with the food and to give me a refund!!!! As is our tradition we go out for Chinese food every Christmas Eve, typically to a different restaurant each year. This year we chose Rice House as it is located in close proximity to our church making it easy and efficient to eat in plenty of time for the Christmas Eve service. Unfortunately when we walked in at 7:36 and found only a couple people sitting in what was a small space we were informed the kitchen was closed to dine-in orders - take-out only. We quickly decided to do that and have dinner in our car when a seated customer commented that take-out orders were over an hour wait. Since we didn't have that much time we left and spent the rest of our time searching for another Chinese restaurant that was open. Sadly there were none in the area. Next time we'll call and have a viable backup plan but this was a real disappointment. Since we didn't eat I can't comment on the food but the person at the front desk was calm and polite. I order from the place everytime I order Chinese food and only this place . I placed a order and when I received my order , it was wrong. I contacted the business as soon as I recieved my order . They told me they would credit my account for his meal. I ordered again today and told me I only get 5.00 credit because I did not bring the food back. They never told me that when I called . Yo, this is the best Chinese takeout I've had in the whole city, I swear. We ordered a variety of items. Pineapple fried rice, shrimp fried rice, vegetable lo mein, orange chicken, and crab rangoon. All were phenomenal! I'd never had pineapple fried rice, but it was something I'd for sure order again- that salty sweet combo is something to write home about. The chicken they use here is top notch! I've had a lot of questionable chicken at some American Chinese restaurants but this was great, all white meat. I ordered one of my favorite Chinese meals. Vegetable Egg Foo Yung. I thought it has to be good. How do you mess up veggies, right? Wow! Was I ever wrong. And, disappointed. It was one of the worst Chinese dinners I have ever had. Anywhere. I would say that if there were a Chinese Egg Foo Yung frozen dinner. That is what it might taste like. When we found hair in the rice they became defensive and said it wasn't theirs even though it was buried in the rice and did not match our hair. We simply wanted a new rice and perhaps an apology. Wow! This place blows the other takeout Chinese restaurants in the area out of the water. The takeout is fresh and delicious. The menu is full of your typical takeout essentials, but also feature a few less common items. Tonight we dined on the orange chicken, kung pao chicken, sizzling black pepper beef, and shrimp fried rice. The portions were sizable and the shrimp, beef, chicken and vegetables were super fresh. The orange chicken, my oldest's favorite, had a sweet garlic-orange glaze. The Kung Pao was spicy and featured fresh green beans and peanuts. The sizzling black pepper beef was similar to a beef and vegetables but had a generous addition of black pepper--it was very good. The star of the night was the shrimp fried rice. There were at least a dozen large shrimp, perfectly cooked in a very flavorful fried rice with onions, eggs, and a perfect amount of soy sauce. It's been 14 months and Rice House is still at the same bright, cheery, clean restaurant it was when they opened last February. I've found most American Chinese restaurants deteriorate over time where you can barely stand to even get takeout. Food quality has stayed consistent as well, they are still using Napa and bok choy vs moving to celery. So I'm upping my rank to 4 stars. Still, you need to realize this rank is based on understanding that they are a small strip mall place serving standard American Chinese fare, but you can get a craving for that, too. read more

This is a tough one. The food is good, and the price is decent. However, the service is unfriendly and unwelcoming. I went there a couple of times and got a to-go order. Every person I encountered, who worked there, was unfriendly. On my second visit, the person behind the counter/cashier, didn't even want to hand me my food, he pointed & told me to get it myself. I did like the beef with vegetables & steamed rice, it came in a combo with couple of sids $9+, which was really good. Unfortunately, service is as important to me as the quality of food so I would have hard time recommending this restaurant.
