My new favorite restaurant in the area. I was so excited and relieved to find a Chinese restaurant that had all of my American favorites as well as an authentic menu. I finally got to try the Szechuan cold noodles that I was so excited for. The noodles were perfectly chewy and the sauce was so tasty! I also got to try the sweet potato pies. This was another dish I have been trying to find! They did not disappoint. The texture was perfect. The Szechuan spicy dumpling were good as well. I would have preferred a tad more spice and I do feel like I can get similar ones around town. The last thing I tried was the General Tso chicken. This was probably the best I have ever had. It was perfectly crispy but the inside was filled with fresh tender chicken. I have been craving this every day since I first tried it here. I cannot say enough about how amazing this place was. Spent about 3 months in the greater overland park area and will say this actually the more authentic chinese food option in the area. It's got a huge menu of options. I got the dan dan noodles and fried green beans. Highly recommend both as their a staple at this location. They were on the slightly oilier side, but nonetheless delicious. I have been on the hunt for a traditional Chinese restaurant and I finally found it! I love trying new things and I don't feel like many restaurants around me offer as many traditional dishes as Sichuan does. Unfortunately I was too hungry to get more than one photo but I tried so many things! First we started off with Szechuan cold noodles, which is topped with sesame seeds and a chili sauce. We also ordered Szechuan spicy dumplings, they are so delicious and not overly spicy at all. We also tried their sweet potato pie, which are basically sweet potato pancakes pan fried and was absolutely my favorite thing we had. We also wanted to try some of the non-traditional menu so we ordered general tso chicken and it was not just your basic American Chinese fried chicken. It was very different than what I've had and it was super crunchy and the spice was perfect. It was a must try if that's your favorite dish normally. We shared the Milk and Honey Shrimp. It was DELICIOUS! Wow!! I mean it was incredible! As our fearless leader mentioned, it's a bit on the pricey side, but you get a huge serving and what we had was super good. We placed our order over the phone and I went to pick it up when it was scheduled to be ready. This place is located in a strip mall in the heart of Overland Park, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it BUSTLING with activity. It was packed with families dining in and people picking up to-go orders. I could tell that the folks working were likely the owners, and it just had this great energy to the place that made me feel like I was really supporting a nice local business. They identify you by your phone number when you pick up and then you pay and you're on your way. So why 4/5 stars? The food was excellent, and the experience was great but honestly I felt it was kind of pricey for Chinese take out. I know we will go back as it was good and a nice change of pace from the ones right next door to us, but the flavors weren't so much improved to merit the increase in price for us. read more

We sat down and it took the waitress 20 minutes to come back and take our order after she was on her phone for 15 of the 20 minutes. When we ordered our waitress was very short and snippy. She kept saying "okay" after every item we ordered and I was trying to order 1 out of the 2 things I ordered and she almost walked away from me before I was able to order it. My partner and I ordered 2 sprites and not once but TWICE by TWO different people they kept pouring water in our glasses instead of just asking us what the drink was to be sure. We had ate and been sitting for a good 10 minutes before I decided I was ready to leave and had to call over to the waitress twice because she wasn't paying attention to me. There's no way I could give a 5 out of 5 star review with service like this. And to make matters worse, the restaurant was empty. To leave on a positive note the food was absolutely delicious. Some of the most delicious and fresh Chinese food I've had in a long time. The quality of the food did not lack or disappoint. A bit disappointing considering that the food was to die for! This is a real good restaurant for Szechuan-style food. We ordered a mess of things to try different dishes. We got the Shredded Pork with Garlic Sauce, Sautéed Green Beans Sichuan Style, Gong Bao Tofu, Eggplant with Sweet Bean Sauce and the Sautéed Sliced Lotus Roots. Everything was well prepared and all the portions are large enough to share. The eggplant and the green beans were particularly good. Service was prompt and pleasant, prices are competitive. Sichuan Dynasty is hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant in Kansas! I came here for dinner and, as always, the food did not disappoint. I ordered some of my go-to dishes: the Milk & Honey Shrimp, Beef Chow Fun, Water Spinach, Chicken with Smoked Dry Tofu, and Mapo Tofu. Every single dish was packed with flavor, cooked perfectly, and so satisfying. The Milk & Honey Shrimp was crispy and lightly sweet without being overwhelming, and the Beef Chow Fun had that perfect smoky "wok hei" flavor that's hard to find. The Water Spinach was fresh and garlicky, and has a great balance to the richer dishes. The Chicken with Smoked Dry Tofu is one of my favorites, a great dish to order if you have kids. And the Mapo Tofu had just the right level of spice and numbing heat. Service is always friendly and efficient, and even when the restaurant gets busy, the food comes out in a reasonable time. If you haven't checked them out yet, I highly recommend giving them a try. It's truly a gem and easily my top choice for authentic, consistently delicious Chinese food in the area! read more

Definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Overland Park area. I've never been disappointed by any of the food items I have gotten from here. They have this totally amazing stirfry Chinese water spinach dish that's not even on the menu, just ask for it. Their Szechuan style dishes are full of flavor without being ungodly spicy like at some other places. I've never sat down and eaten at this restaurant so I cannot comment about the quality of in dining service. But the folks at the takeout counter have always been super friendly and the food is prepared at the promised time. read more

I dont know how anyone could say this place is good. Im so irritated. Went there tonight to get dinner. A takeout order of almost $70. They didnt give us any rice at all and literally didnt put the crab rangoon in the bad. We got the chicken and a container of sweet and sour sauce. Thats it. For $70. I always have a great dining experience at Sichuan Dynasty. First, the staff are friendly, attentive, and fast. I came at a very busy time and would say I got my food within 15 minutes of ordering. My table of 4 ordered the Water Spinach, Milk & Honey Crispy Shrimp, Beef Cilantro & Peppers, Cold Noodles, and Mapo Tofu. The flavors and quality of the dishes here are great. If you are looking for an appetizer, I highly recommend the cold noodles, as it has great texture covered in a light, flavorful peanut sauce. The water spinach is a great veggie option to pair with the main dishes. The milk and honey crispy shrimp is my personal favorite. The sauce is on the sweeter side and pairs harmoniously with the crispy shrimp. The beef cilantro and peppers would be a great option for those that like some heat as it has jalapeños mixed in. I enjoyed the twice cooked pork and Singaporean noodles, I probably won't order the dry hotpot again since it was small for the price and mediocre. It was very hard to find a non-americanized Chinese Restaurant that serves more than General Chaos chicken and crab rangoon (no cream cheese in China, lol). My favorite, hard to find dish is the cold dish Fu Qi Fei Pian... So good. The staff there is very friendly, the owner is always there working hard preparing the food. read more

4 stars for me personally, but this is 5 stars for Overland Park/Kansas City. The service was great considering how big our group was. Their large menu has two sides-- one for more Americanized food and one for more "authentic" food. I don't think the authentic side is still super authentic, but I don't expect that in Kansas, and Sichuan Dynasty is still great. I'm just relieved I have somewhere passable to take my Asian relatives when they come visit. They do charge a sitting fee/tea fee, which is a little odd. I'm only used to dim sum places charging that. Nothing to ding them for, though. What I've tried from the authentic side: Hot stir fried pork intestines ($14.99): Think of this as small, crispy and fatty bacon circles. These were sliced pretty thinly so they were pretty flat. Even if you're not familiar with Szechuan cuisine, I think this is an approachable dish (ignoring the "intestines" part of the name). Not sure how authentic the flavor is, but it's good. Braised Pork Belly ($15.99): Soft, juicy pork belly. Can't go wrong. It's not the softest or most flavorful I've had, but it's good enough if you don't want to make this at home. Mapo tofu ($12.99): Good sauce, but sadly it doesn't come with minced meat. Works as a vegetarian option. Sweet and sour fish ($16.99): Almost drowning in sauce and not the crunchiest underneath, but still yummy. Heard good things about this restaurant, but overall we were unimpressed. We wanted Sichuan food, and this was one of the highest rated Sichuan places in KC (If not the only one). When we arrived at the restaurant, it took several minutes for us to get seated, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. Looking over the menu I saw many of the dishes I would expect from Sichuanese cuisine, so it seemed relatively authentic. However, food itself was lacking, and definitely not up to the standards I'd typically expect for Sichuan food. The water spinach tasted old and looked old - when freshly cooked, it resembles a brighter green color. Noodles were somewhat bland, and the cumin beef lacked depth and flavor. Usually when I get cumin beef, there's good aromas and spices that add to the dish - this version just tasted like pure cumin seasoning with some onions. The fish was decent; somewhat salty but passable. Restaurant itself feels spacious, with both dining tables and booths. Overall, for the price we paid and the quality of the food, I don't think I would return unless I was desperately craving some type of Sichuan food. If you go here, the food is fine, but don't give up on Sichuan food if this is your first and only experience. read more
