My updated review unfortunately they have gone down hill. I dont know if it was Just a different chef or some thing but we got take out about a month ago and it was horrible . The crab rangoons were mushy and the sesame chicken was tough and un edible. Only giving two stars cause the shrimp rolls and fried rice was good. Food was cold and unedible and I live right on the same street . I hate giving bad reviews but I was extremely disappointed in them. Hopefully it was just a glitch cause it was really convenient to my house and the lady was really nice but I there are other Chinese restaurants that are worth the drive. read more

I have a go-to Chinese place in Carolina Shores that I really like, but on a whim I decided to try someplace new. So I went down the street to China King hopping get some good Chinese carry out. Unfortunately, it was not the experience I'd hoped for. I ordered the chicken with garlic sauce combo, but substituted lo mein noodles and a shrimp eggroll for their standards. I also added some egg drop wonton soup. The egg roll had good flavor, but after two bites realized there was really no shrimp in it. I came across two small shrimp, but the interior was primarily just cabbage so I didn't finish it. The egg drop wonton soup was good. It had nice flavor and the wontons were cooked right. The chicken with garlic sauce was disappointing. It actually had pretty good flavor but both the lo mein noodles and the chicken seemed soft and way overcooked. The vegetables were not crunchy like I had hoped either. To add insult to injury, there was no fortune cookie included with the meal, so I have no idea what the outlook is for me after eating here. No guidance to make it through the weekend The staff was friendly, but very busy. I will probably stick with my go to place in the future. read more

I had written a glowing review 3 years ago. Now, not so much. I was told while picking up my $9 lunch special there is now a $15 minimum. The food has changed too. Carrots instead of mushrooms in the Kung Pao. Raw onions in the rice. I will find another place. read more

I have been coming here for over 2 years. I have never been disappointed. The place is basically takeout but they do have several tables where you can eat in. I usually get shrimp Lo Mein but I have tried several other dishes like beef with mushrooms. Their price are fairly reasonable. I totally recommend eating here plus the staff is very nice and friendly. read more

Ordered take out from here as it's all they do and the food was delish! I am so partial to one other place for Chinese and this was very comparable. I tired the egg foo young with shrimp and the serving was large and plenty for two. They served yellow vs white or brown rice as the version of fried rice. I prefer traditional over this way. We also tried the steamed dumplings and they were flavorful and good. Everyone in my group loved their dinner and we all have enough for another meal left. Went to restaurant for first time. Woman behind counter ignored me and took several phone orders while I stood at window. She asked me if i was picking up an order. I told her no i wanted to place a order. I told her what i wanted and she looked at take out orders and told me it wasn't ready!! I said no i wanted to place a new order. There's not a lot of choices for Chinese food around here. It's not the best, so that's why I gave it 4 stars. It did satisfy our desire for Chinese food. We got the chicken & broccoli, shrimp egg rolls, (which are hugh), wonton soup (didn't like the meat in the wonton)...next time I'll try egg drop soup. We placed an order inside and it wasn't ready in no time! The girl taking the order was nice. It's nothing fancy inside, but appeared to be clean. read more

I work close by and I am there often fir a quick bite! The plain low mein add extra spicy and a touch of soy- yummy! And I absolutely love their spring rolls! Bigger than most places- ask for the dumpling sauce for dipping, you will most definitely thank me later! I saw complaints on these saying all veggie- um- well thats exactly what it is- a veggie spring roll- get an egg roll if you want meats! The workers are super friendly and this place stays busy! Here on vacation, we got a hankering for regular old takeout Chinese food. You know the kind: light up picture menu over the counter, folded paper menu, Lucky Cat statue on the counter, kitchen visible behind the person taking your order. China King did not disappoint. My wife and I shared an orange chicken combination plate. The pork fried rice was great. The chicken could have been a little crispier, but that's just my preference. Good food, good price. This place has gone downhill....back in February we noticed the honey chicken not as good as it was before, today I found out new owners....cousins of the people that used to own it bought it. Instead of having food in the standard Chinse food containers just about everything is in Styrofoam containers which steams the food inside the containers and makes everything rubbery., also the Styrofoam is bad for the environment. If this Chinese place plans to stay in business, they need to go back to the basics of the previous owners. We are most likely done with this place. read more

Based on prior experience, I didn't have very lofty expectations for finding good vegetarian food in Ocean Isle. I gave China King a try expecting to settle for fried rice but their tofu options were great! The food is tasty, generous and relatively cheap. I will be eating here regularly on future visits to Ocean Isle! read more

Stopped for the first time. Got turned off by the filthy windows. Not a good sign of cleanliness.

New to the area stopped in to bring home food. Overcooked and undercooked tells the story. The chicken in the chow mien was pink my wife said I said maybe it was just a seasoning so I cut a piece and put it in my mouth, do not ever want the texture of raw chicken in my mouth again. The shrimp toast was a new dish for me blackened crust tasted like charcoal overwhelming the mush inside. Fried shrimp were fried beyond death and how do you butterfly shrimp without deveining them. If you pay attention to what your doing these problems can be fixed. We did throw away the take out menu with the food. read more

Avoid this chinese takeout restaurant! I ordered chicken fried rice, an extremely simple dish. I was expecting a decent meal, considering the place looked clean and there were people eating there. I was first questioning the place when the guy at the cash register who took my order must've been around 12 years old. When I got home, I opened my fried rice to discover that it was bright yellow. Someone else thought I had ordered macaroni and cheese. I decided to give it a try - it tasted watery and didn't have any flavor. The chicken seemed uncooked and not fresh. That's not the worst, however, there was a very long dark hair in only the second bite of my meal. This disgusted me to the point of just tossing the whole thing out. This is my first yelp review, and this experience was so bad that it prompted me to sign up for a yelp account. Yikes! read more
