Craving a little something different while in Myrtle Beach, so decided to give New China King a try. Food was decent and hit the spot, but I guess I was expecting more from all the glowing reviews. Favorites here included the Bourbon chicken and Roast pork lo mein. Service was friendly at this family owned restaurant, and ordering online was a breeze. I like how they gave you a call after you placed your online order to confirm your order and let you know their location. The service was also meh - ask for your phone #, tell you your amount, receive your card in hand, and place it on the counter back to you. Noticed a roach crawling by after food was paid for. China King is king! The food was tasty and freshly made. The Fried Dumplings were freshly made (I could see them filling the dumplings just before frying)! And the sauce that came with the dumplings just made them all the more tasty! The Singapore Mei Fun (rice noodles) were delicious. They were light and tasty. (The shrimp were deveined, and that's important to me. ) The chicken with broccoli was also tasty and cooked just right. It was also nice that China King also served rice to go with the takeout. Food was not good at all. Maybe I went on an off night, but it was so bad I wouldn't go back. Egg rolls looked delicious and had great crunch, but they tasted like old pork and were super sour. Crab puffs were okay, nothing to rave about. The sweet and sour sauce was so sour I couldn't enjoy it so I ate the puffs by themselves. I got the sesame chicken. The flavor was okay but the chicken was barely there. It was mainly breading and very tough, dry chicken. The fried rice was probably the only thing I enjoyed out of the whole meal. Grabbed takeout on our way to beach. First time eating from China King and wanted to make sure it was good food and open for Christmas (family tradition). We ordered upon arriving and our order was ready in about 12 minutes. Restaurant very clean, staff super friendly! Husband had Beef and broccoli - he loved, beef tender and veggies crisp. My General Tso dinner was very good, food piping hot and chicken was nice and crispy. Both dinners came with rice and egg roll. I was allowed to sub steamed rice in place of menu pork fried. We shared a small House Lo Mein and that was delicious - not too salty and lots of meat/shrimp. We had enough food leftover for another meal and a small lunch. Returning to Myrtle Beach two years later, were that in 2022 I had shot I can deliver me food to the hotel I was at the delivery was fast delivery person was great. The food was great fast forward two years 2024 came back to Myrtle Beach ordered the food service as always was quick, but the food was undercooked. I guess there was construction so we were later than she thought we should be and called back to let us know it was ready and to check in. We got fried pork dumplings they were good. Hot and sour soup was both hot, sour n packed with veggies. Wonton soup was standard. The pork eggrolls were pretty standard and we were missing any duck sauce, soy or mustard in the bag. The orange chicken dinner special was very fragrant with orange, it was marked spicy but wasn't. The sesame chicken was good.
