I ordered 4 pork egg rolls, small white rice and a small vegetable fried rice, and it came to be a total of $20 (including tax). A bit pricey, but these are the times. Anyways, the pork egg rolls were delicious- didn't seem to be greasy at all, which is the first I've ever experienced before. I was in heaven! The white rice was white rice, and the fried rice was good, but a little greasy (especially the next day). We will definitely order again! I found China Li on the BeyondMenu app. I checked them out here on Yelp and they don't have many reviews. This is a small restaurant, really small. There aren't even any tables. It's on a little feeder road just past the 164 overpass on Cedar Ln. Turn in by the 7-11, otherwise you have to turn in the feeder road further down. The usual lady here wasn't there today evidently, she has better English and was helping the other 2 workers via phone. She was able to find and relay my order from the app to the other workers. I got a vegetable lo mein, which was great. The broccoli was kind of big pieces. I also had some chicken with mixed vegetables. It was also good, nice chicken and lots of different vegetables. Tonight we tried out this since our favorite Chinese restaurant moved. I like being able to order online and pickup in person. The order process was flawless and our order was ready on time. We ordered a shrimp and broccoli combo meal, egg drop soup and a shrimp roll. All the food was cooked properly and tasted fresh. I'm picky about egg rolls too often they taste like old cooking oil. These did not. In fact none of the food was greasy. Even the fried rice was very cleanly cooked. We have now found a new Chinese restaurant when in the mood. read more

Food was overpriced and and overdone. Staff couldn't understand any directions at all, even put requests in English and Chinese. This was a DoorDash order and I wouldn't eat from her again on a bet. read more

Purchased several items from China Li for the 1st time, bourbon chicken was 1 of those items. The bourbon chicken was overcooked, some dried out and hard. Disappointing because I ordered a large order. Started to take it back for a refund but it was after hours and you cant be to careful these days. The vegetable fried rice, beef and broccoli, pepper beef and onions and orange chicken was good. Customer service here is excellent wether by phone or in person. Very reasonable priced Chinese food, good location near coast guard base and VIG where there are no longer lunch places close. Really nice staff who are quick and appreciative of your business, I appreciate them more for the good lunch! read more

The worst experience ever. I went there last week and got bourbon chicken with rice. When i got home there was a dead roach that had been cooked with the chicken, antennae and all. I will NEVER return to this place. When i pulled up to it, i had gotten a bad feeling. Now i know why. read more

Food is typical of the area. No place to eat. They are consistent and the food is good. I would recommend it.

My wife and I have eaten here three times. I was excited to have a take out place so close to home when we first moved to this area. That feeling quickly left. The first time was decent. Although my wife complained of how spicy her meal was (nothing new). The second time I noticed that their sign had burned out outside and I honestly thought they went out of business. I popped inside the dim lit entry and got a second round of the same. Flash forward 4 months and we decided on take out after a long time without. Called, ordered the same meals. General Tso combo and a beef and broccoli combo. I arrived and again at night. Sign still burnt out, feeling like "this was a bad idea." The place seemed dingy and poorly lit even more than the times before. Thinking, "Who doesn't fix a sign that's been out for over 5 months?" To me, it just makes any place look like they don't care about upkeep or appearance. Third time is a charm. Wife snags a bite of her general tso and immediately runs to grab water. "I can't eat this, it burns my lips, my mouth is on fire." (From spice) I for one believe that every meal needs hot sauce. I love spicy food. I laugh and grab a bite of my beef and broccoli. (A completely different meal) It felt like I had just wiped a ghost pepper inside of my mouth. It wasn't just the sauce it was the rice too. On both hers and mine. It's like both meals were cooked in exactly the same pan. Both beef and chicken. I HATE tossing food but we had too. Both meals in their entirety. Sorry China One. I wanted to love you. Well I be damned I guess they don't want my money. I called to place an order and first of all they didn't even identify themselves as a place of business. I asked if they delivered and the lady said "no pick up only". I get ready to say "ok well can I place an order for..." And the bitch hangs up! Oh ok. MESSAGE! I have to give them a one star bc I couldn't give them a no star for this customer service which I thought used to be good but maybe they are under new management. Had a combo dinner: Sweet and Sour Pork - Very good Fried Rice - average Eggroll - average It's a fairly normal take out place. It's in a mini shopping center with a 7-11...the area seems pretty seedy. The lady at the counter was very nice. read more

Anytime I am at the 'rents house and Chinese food is mentioned we are definitely going to China One in Portsmouth. This place has the best crab won tons ever! EVER! They are so rich and cheesy, mmm I can almost taste them now. They also have really good pork eggrolls and spring egg rolls. I usually get the Shrimp Fried Rice which is a little carrot and pea heavy but still really good. My brother actually gets Shrimp Fried Rice without vegetables added, so you do have the option of customizing some of the food here. The employees here are very nice and usually know exactly what we want to order as soon as my Mom calls in. I definitely recommend checking them out if you are in the Portsmouth/Churchland area. read more

When ever we are in the mood for Chinese, this is our go-to place. The staff is always friendly, the food is always delicious, and their prices are reasonable. A big plus, the food is always ready within 10-15 minutes. We have ordered a lot off their menu over the years (and it is always wonderful), but our usual order is Crab Rangoons, Vegetable Lo Mein, and Shrimp with Garlic Sauce (A-mazing). Sometimes we add in their egg rolls and shrimp egg rolls....YUM! There is so much food that we always have leftovers for the next day. Best Chinese take-out that we have ever been too. The food used to be very good and well proportioned. Now the establishment has gone downhill. The facility is cluttered, the front door stays open which allows bugs and other vermin to enter and the kitchen/cook area looks very cluttered and unsanitary. My husband and I just moved to the neighborhood and very happy that this is right down the street from us. We eat here atleast once a week. They are kind and cook your food quickly. There is only one table so we just pick it up and take it home. They have a great menu at a reasonable price. You get ALOT with your meal. People are skeptic about the area but I have never had a problem. read more

It was Christmas Eve and every place was closed except for gas stations and Chinese restaurants! So I tried China One and ordered a general tso chicken. The price tag was hefty (over 9 dollars) but I swallowed the bullet because it was so late and I wanted a real meal. Well, I'd have to say it was well worth the money! The portions are huge and I think I ate half before saying "no more!". After a few days I tried the general tso lunch special (which is just $5.07) and it's a great deal and just as filling as the dinner size. read more

I traveled to Portsmouth (C3CEN) for work, and was looking for some place to have lunch. This is the closest place and the only one Yelp could find nearby. A small place, I think their main business is take-out, since there was only one table inside the restaurant. The food quality was average and acceptable, reasonable prices. read more

For a take out Chinese resturant, you can't ask for much more. While tiny and in a strip mall, this is my favorite Chinese take out in the area. Been there a good 15+ times and it never takes lomger than 10 minutes from ordering to leaving with hot and yummy food. I usually get the Garlic Chicken combo with chicken fried rice. Some days I'll go wild and get the sweet and sour chicken. :drool: Hubs tries something different each time and says it's delicious. His favorite so far being the happy family. He always gets the pork fried rice with his. No Chinese dinner is complete without the crab wontons, which are also pretty delicious. Good food overall. We ordered the dumplings, wonton soup, hot & sour soup, chicken & broccoli, and the Dragon & Phoenix. All of it was very good. Dumplings can be a make it or break it for me and they made it. The shrimp in the dragon & phoenix were huge, not the little ones you usually get. I will be coming back here again. read more
