Haven't been here in two years or so but really gone downhill. I went today around 11:30. Staff is friendly and all. But food is terrible with a smaller selection. Customers look like they don't care and are just piling on the calories. Egg Foo Young was the worst I've ever had. Food was greasy and bland. Soups were mediocre. Yes, it's inexpensive but the adage " you get what you pay for" certainly applies here. I hate writing really bad reviews but all I can say is that I hope management realizes that many people just won't come back. Believe me when I say I wish you the best. It's been a while since I had been to the China Moon. What a surprise!! Don't know what the changes were, but the food was amazing. I ordered takeout, so did not sample the buffet, but it will definitely be back on my to do list. Food was hit, fresh and very flavorful. I ordered the happy family, and there were equal amounts of meat and seafood. I also ordered egg drop soup, and it was great. Not too salty, and full of flavor. Friendly staff, amazing value at just over $10 each per person for lunch. Most items were delicious and id definitely come back when I want to gorge on Chinese food. My family and I have been going to China Moon for years and I have never been as disappointed as I was today. We went out to celebrate a birthday in my family, and some family friends were with us. One of our family friends had gotten Lo Mein and while she was eating, she started twirling her fork in the noodles and there was an untwined paper clip in the food. Her husband immediately went to the kitchen cook and manager and they refused to do anything about it. They claimed that she could get another plate, or not get food anymore and not have to pay. The kitchen cook remarked and said that they don't have "anything like that object in their kitchen" but my friend doesn't carry office supplies with her randomly. I'm very upset that not only did they not take responsibility, but they also didn't provide good customer service. Although there are many varieties of self-service dishes there, it was not hygienic. We recently had a lunch meal there. Since we ate the sweet and sour pork and Char Siu red pork at there, which were left overnight or left for a few days, and we diarrhea after ate lunch meals. Now, we try to eat as little as possible Chinese food buffet meals. Possibly, because they are frugal or afraid of waste, they reprocessed pork left over from the day before yesterday or earlier. I love this place. The food is hot, delicious, and varied. There's easily over thirty savory dishes and at least half a dozen desserts (or more!). The cheese buns, dumplings, dim sum, lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, and many others are amazing. They even have fried chicken, Mac and cheese, and potatoes! I liked 95% of what I tried. Clean, well-priced, and the service is efficient and quick. My husband and I have been twice in the last month and plan to go back for sure. I'm a regular of this restaurant and I only go here when I legitimately cannot think of anywhere else to eat. It's about the only chinese buffet in VT you'll find aside from Grand Buffet in Essex, VT which personally, is the better option if you can afford to go a little out of your way to get there. The food variety is okay if you're a first timer, it becomes tiring if you're a regular that just makes you wish there was more. I was actually surprised today that there was only one new dish that they served up that I haven't seen before. It's like they get a new dish once every other year it seems. Food quality varies, you'll find the chicken sometimes stiff or overly squishy. My first choice to fill my plate is always honey chicken and for some reason, most of the time they're crunchy when I remembered them being a little firm. Noodles always tasted stale and bland, doesn't matter which it is. Dessert is beginning to be unappetizing for me since the ice cream has too much of a metallic artificial taste and the cake squares aside from one bunch of them, are always overly dry. Dining and sitting isn't so bad, it's just the people that come here may ruin the experience for you. I really wish that there was a cap or something as to how many children people can bring. Because everytime I'm there, there never fails to be one or two kids who're absolute brats running around and making noise as if screaming and crying wasn't a nuisance already. Trashy parents, oblivious elderly and obese hicks who're always giving you a suspicious look are a common sight here. Doesn't make for a pleasant dining experience. The staff has always been nice, they're doing things around the clock so you can't really expect them to be always perky. All in all, I think I'm about to wrap up my time attending to this place. It's getting old and now I'm just being given the signs that I should stop coming here. After 4 hours on the road, we were looking for a filling dinner before heading off to the hotel. We usually find a Chinese buffet to be a decent choice for choices for our two vegetarians one one carnivore. This place is not that at all. The food appeared to have been sitting for hours. The cooked potatoes were limp and swimming in grease. The tofu dish was filled with overcooked vegetables. I tried three different chicken preparations and spit each bite out it was so tough and tasted so bad. Only the vegetable lo mein, "crab" rangoons, and hot and sour soup were passable. The decor is quite jarring, with neon green walls and banquette seats in a dark pink shade covered with black patterns; it made you feel like you were sitting inside a watermelon. I had the absolute worst customer service ever! I ordered a large order of sweet and sour chicken. I asked if there was sweet and sour sauce because they didn't put any in before. The owner told me he did. I get home and not only is there no sauce the white rice was not in there either. So I call and they had the audacity to call me a LIAR! SHE SAID MY HUSBAND PUT IT IN YOUR BAG! I said no he didn't! She continued to tell me it was on my table. Then she told me I had 2 choices I can drive the 15 minutes back or never go there again! An unfocused feast spread over a questionably hygenic buffet. This place is a pig-out only a bulimic could love... because everything repeats on you. This is my go to place when feeling the disgusting need for Chinese. The two other options in town are really scary, so the brightly lit, mall location with really fancy chandelier does the trick. It's a chinese buffet, not a gourmet restaraunt. Many hot soups, fried junk, shiny meats, noodles and always something weird; pizza, hard boiled eggs, mac n cheese, pigs in blankets, cold squid salad. It's super cheap at lunch, $5.95, I stick to a couple soups, crab rangoons and a little mei fun noodles. They have a HUGE dessert bar, with creemee machine and all. I recently got take out, spring rolls and shrimp lo mein and it was good. And I'm not sure if its Ming Moon or China Moon but either way it fills me with greasy goodness when I need that. read more

Looked over the lunch buffet choices, took pix, then placed my empty plate down and walked out. Not worth the money to me. Ate at better Chinese buffets elsewhere for way less money with a much better selection and tremendous ambiance. All three were lacking here, including Chinese waitresses that do not, or can not, say hello and have even mild conversation. read more

I enjoy Chinese good quite a bit and this is always my first choice on the list. Mind you, it's not an upscale place, but it's very well priced and has a lot of options to choose from. Service is quick, but don't expect a conversation unless it's from the very cheerful gentleman at the front. Both my wife and I think this is the best Chinese buffet within a hundred miles! It is cheap, ($7 lunch buffet), but still is really good food! I have never found better crab wontons or honey chicken, even in classier joints. Restaurant is clean, and the staff are very friendly. I think a lot of the bad reviews come from when the restaurant had first opened after recovering from the major flooding in 2011 that forced them to close for months to remodel. We have been coming here for almost 11 years. When we first got there today and went to get food the only thing keeping us from leaving was our son who begged to go there in the first place. The food was dry, old and his favorite the Mac and cheese Was full of oil. Nothing looked appetizing but we sucked it up. Most of the food had very little food to select and the white noodles and some of the meat were very hard! Also the waitress was rude and didn't even ask if I was done eating when she reached in front of me and grabbed my plaTe. Along with checking every 20 secs to see if we left a tip. I had to ask for everything I wanted: refills, napkins, soy sauce, etc. The server treated the white and other Asian guests noticeably different than she treated me. I went for lunch with my coworkers. Everything there was okay, I've definitely had better. My biggest complaint though was the sushi rolls. It wasn't raw, just imitation crab, cream cheese wrapped in seaweed and rice. It tasted like I had just put the most rotten piece of food in my mouth. I will never eat there again. I had to get up and go to the bathroom to spit it out. I tried to bring it to, who I think was, the owner's attention. I was very nice about it, but he got very defensive. I highly suggest eating somewhere else. Panera Bread or Pizza Hut are right next to it, I'd even recommend McDonald's over this place. Avoid China Moon. read more

I actually ate here at least 3 times a month and found the choices good and knew it wasn't a high end place. However, at my last visit as I was getting rice, they were filling the chicken across from me. There was a piece of chicken that was sitting by the plates that came from who know where, the floor maybe, someone could have dropped it and picked it up and set it there, plus who knows how long ago it was off heat and the lady filling the chicken picked it up with the tongs that went back in the chicken and put that piece back into the chicken dish.
