My friend ordered the deepdish and loved it.

Great food and our server was excellent. I plan on going every other weekend because the food is delicious and the atmosphere is fairly good.

Barre was well known for excellent Italian cuisine for decades. AR Trattoria and Pearl St Pizza have done an amazing job rekindling the love for authentic, traditional Italian food, sometimes with a modern twist. I ended up at the pizzeria two nights in a row, which i wouldn't normally do, but it was a: that good and b: I was attending two events. The first night was a VICA (Vermont Italian Cultural Association) Italian conversation event for beginners to native speakers. It was pretty awesome to hear so much Italian spoken and two of the guests were playing Italian folk music live the next evening, so I had to come back. That's probably TMI and not about the food. So here's what you really came to read: The first night, I split a slice of the grandma pepper and onion pizza (thick, Sicilian square style like my family makes) with a friend. The slice was that big that two people could eat it. It was perfectly crisped on the bottom, with thick soft dough covered in a beautiful homemade tomato sauce, cheese, charred onions and peppers. It was fantastic. The next night, I wanted the grilled shrimp speidini, but they'd were out of it, so I ordered a traditional 14 inch Margherita pizza, with a Neapolitan thin crust. I felt like I was back in Italy: everything about it was perfect: the crust was crispy and thin, not too chewy (which I've found to be an issue with some other brick/stone oven local pizzas. The sauce was heavenly: light and fresh. Topped with fresh mozzarella, basil and good olive oil. I had to restrain myself from eating the whole pie in one sitting. The outdoor seating is great. The menu as a whole looks fantastic: limited and seasonal, which is what I prefer. It's well worth the drive. I can see this becoming a regular visit.

Looking for food to satisfy that rumble in my belly, this place hit the spot. I placed my order to go when I arrived and had a drink at the bar while I waited. Once I saw the wood fired oven, I knew my food was going to be amazing. I placed an order for a simple pepperoni pizza with hot honey sauce. For a starter I ordered the wings. My food was ready in less than 20min. I stole a quick glance and let's just say There was instant mouth water! Staff here were all very friendly and helpful. The bartender was great! Overall, great experience! I look forward to a return visit in the future.

One of the best pizza places in the country! Everyone there is simply awesome. Humble and down to earth, this place is a must try. Try the white pizza special! Or the grandma style pepperoni hot honey, UNBELIEVABLE!!! Will be recommending this place for years to come!

This is the best pizza we've had in Vermont, and that's saying a lot. We also tried their "pasta of the week" which changes weekly, tonight it was Arriabata Chorizao - phenomenal! We sat at the bar and got a "grandma's style" 1/4 pizza "slice" as well too share, it's a deep dish style. We opted for Prosciutto as a topping, highly recommend adding this to the cheese pizza! The drinks were also incredible. You can tell they put a lot of thought into the menu. The atmosphere was lovely, very romantic lighting. I would highly recommend this spot for a date night. The staff was very knowledgeable, and the owners checked in with us to see how everything was. We will definitely be back and recommending this spot to everyone we know.

Amazing food and amazing service. Such a gem for the community. Come for trivia on the first and third Thursday of each month!

Look at the crust. Under side was also black.

We really wanted to like this place after all of the stellar reviews. Finally ordered takeout... A wood fired pizza and garlic bread. Maybe it was a fluke because the place was packed, but this was a letdown.

The oil was infused with lots of crushed garlic, which left the oil itself so fragrant and tasting of garlic. Perfection. I ordered a Greek Salad with some grilled chicken added. My husband ordered a Caesar salad and their Margherita pizza. The Greek salad was magnificent... beautiful presentation, huge salad and lots of wonderful ingredients (mixed greens, marinated artichoke hearts, chickpeas, red onion, Greek olives, feta cheese and roasted red peppers), all of which I love. I always get it with Caesar dressing, just my preference, and I'm always glad I do. Their Caesar dressing was particularly delicious to add to the enjoyment of the salad. What was even a greater surprise was how much I LOVED my husband's pizza. He always offers me a slice, and I usually take one bite and say thank you. This pizza was so freaking good, I ate the entire slice. It was amazing. I think it was the pizza sauce because that pizza style usually is boring to me. This was AMAZING. Another restaurant I'm sad I don't live near. It'd be a really long car ride to get here from where I live, but if YOU are in the area, make sure you give them a try. So worth your time and money.

We enjoyed the mussels gauzzetto and calamari fritti. The Mediterranean chicken was well prepared and tasty. The pasta special was spinach feta almond slices in a light tomato sauce and I substituted penne for fettucine - I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. The margherita pizza was good. We suspect you need reservations for prime dining hours on a weekend. The decor feels a little dated but the food is great. We can forgive the $2 for a quarter loaf of bread because it's only a few dollars and the bread was fresh and served with garlic oil, not like overpriced $10-$12 Parker House Rolls, but it's not a good trend to charge for bread. Service was good until we wanted to pay our bill - that took a little bit. We'll happily return.

The tomato soup is excellent. The cheddar ale soup is unforgettable. I would gladly drive hours to have that ale soup again. I can't remember the soup of the day, but I'm sure it was good. The only complaint is the size of the three samples. Too small. I needed more of the ale soup. My daughter had the apple, fig, and brie sandwich (minus the arugula). I had a burger. The food was very very good. We opted for maple syrup (hey, it's VT) and it was the perfect foil to the more savory foods we were eating. Lots of booze options as well. You might inhale when you see the prices for "grilled cheese" but trust me, these are not your run of the mill toasty cheesy sandwiches. Our server, Amy, was fantastic. We loved talking with her and she made sure we had everything we need and had a great experience at the restaurant. Two thumbs way up.

On March 21, we had a reservation, but when we arrived, no one addressed us for about 20 minutes. When we finally spoke to the "hostess", she mentioned that we were assigned a table "out back," which sounded unappealing (though it turned out to be fine). She then informed us that it was really busy and "it could be a while". I said back to her "well, that's a bad start", she said "I know". The whole restaurant had a strong fishy smell, which shouldn't happen with fresh seafood. No one came over to greet us until we decided to go to the bar to find a server. It was the same server who was attending to the table next to us, and she only acknowledged us after we spoke up. She didn't take our drink orders or offer us water. After we finally ordered drinks, we waited 20 minutes only to discover our drinks sitting at the bar--our martinis had already become warm. As for the food, the Rib Eye steak was perfect, but the Shrimp and Scallop Scampi was terrible, and the other pasta dishes with lobster were just okay. The locals mushroom were a deep fried bunch of oyster mushrooms with a mayo pepper-based sauce drizzled on top. Very juicy and meaty bite! The burger was ok, not my favorite. And what a great choice it was, too. We were greeted by a host as we entered the restaurant, and we were offered seating indoors or outside on the sidewalk patio. The air outside was cool, so we opted for the patio. After looking over the menu, I chose two street tacos filled with braised pork, bbq sauce, and pickled jalapeños. While we waited, we snacked on the chips and salsa appetizer. The chips tasted as if they were the last of the day's batch, but to be fair, we arrived late in the evening. However, the salsa was delicious and seemed as if it was made in-house. Enough heat to make your tongue dance, but not so hot to have you gasping for water. And it was just so flavorful, too. When my tacos arrived, each one came with two corn tortillas, which was good because the tacos were a bit juicy. And they were oh-so good. The bbq sauce was not too sweet and very flavorful. The pork was well-cooked and tender. It was one of the top 3 tacos I've eaten, and I've eaten many. I wish I could say the rice was special, but it's your garden-variety Spanish rice, not unlike the box mix from the grocery store. And the black beans, while good tasting, seemed no different than the canned variety. Had the tacos not been so dang good, I might not have been so forgiving of the sides. But it looks (and tasted) like whatever money they might have saved on beans and rice was more than made up for in the tacos. (My wife chose the traditional tacos, and she loved those, as well.) If I had to pinpoint it, I would say it seems like Cali-Mex instead of Tex-Mex, as we're used to, but others might see it as more like actual Mexican fare. (I'll admit to not being too familiar with that style of food.) As for the restaurant itself, I didn't see much of it except for when I went to wash up (as I said, the tacos were juicy!), but there was a full bar and plenty of tables (it was quite full at the time). As for the staff, Hannah did a great job of taking care of us. She was friendly and attentive without being overly so.
