I've been going to this China Palace buffet for over 20 years. It was called Chen's buffet before. I live in Dallas but have family from Henderson so we visit often. We round out every trip by going to China Palace. The food is wonderful! Great to solve your Chinese food fix. There's is wide variety of entrees and sides. The honey chicken and broccoli beef are wonderful. The rice and noodle sides are great base to building your customized plate of glory. Bring the family - grandma, kids and that crazy uncle. They will all have a great time and for sure get 2+ plates of food. Dessert Bonus: they have ice cream self serve with 4 different flavors - chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and my fav butter pecan! Food was cold and soda was flat 15 bucks a person not worth it at all. Place has definitely gone down hill. Total for two came to 31.90

Never any food! The food there isn't good it's like it's been sitting there for hours. Dried out and hard I gave up on this place long ago , but recently came back with friends and family. We tried to give it another shot and sure enough it was the same if not worse ! Same trash food with a higher price. The customer service isn't bad but does not make up for the bad food! read more

Crispy shrimp description says it's supposed to have candied walnuts. Not one in the mix! Tasted more like szechuan shrimp not what we ordered. Spicy human beef is supposed to come with an egg roll. We ordered 10 extra, didn't get with that order should been 11 Sweet and sour chicken we got a large container of some garlicky spicy sauce which was neither sweet nor sour. Met a friend for lunch, it was yummy. The service was great. The ambience was like any buffet style restaurant. Will definitely go again.

The food is hit or miss. It really depends on the time you are going. I've had times were is was really fresh and yummy and other times you could tell it was just left in the warmer for a while. Same goes for the sushi sometimes fresh sometimes questionable. I will say The servers are very nice and make sure your drinks are always filled. I stopped for lunch while passing through and because I love Chinese buffets. Almost always so much variety and these people didn't disappoint! I stayed on the entire buffet so can't tell you about desserts or salad. Just had water because I'm cheap so can report it tastes good. No bad flavor or smell which sometimes is a problem in East Texas although I won't mention Lufkin, oops it slipped out. Anyway! It's Good To Go! Do not eat here. My wife's food was cold. The chicken was mostly gristle. The big thing was the rice. All Chinese food places usually have great rice. Not here. The seats were mostly torn. In fact, while we were there the manager came and put more tape on the booth next to us. That's quality!! Finally, the price was 15 per person. read more

The only reason that China Palace is not 5-stars is because of how expensive their buffet is for kids. For my family of five to go here, it is simply too expensive. The food is excellent and the staff is friendly. My favorites are the Butter Shrimp, Jalapeno Chicken and Dragon Rolls. read more

Honestly, this place is great. Service and food variety are both great! It is buffet style and they are constantly bringing in refreshed food options. I've visited here twice, and while I realize I'm from Houston (where we have a wide array of Chinese buffets), this buffet could stand to have more selection. I like the sauteed cabbage (anything cooked in lots of butter is good), and the sushi is about par for buffet-sushi. They should probably reduce the size of the "salad bar" and add in more traditional chinese buffet items. A hibachi style grill would be a nice addition too. The bathroom was gross...I went in there to wash my hands when arriving, and noticed there was solid waste on the floor in the stall. I reported it to a staffer, but she just smiled and nodded. Ate here February 25th on a road trip checking out East Texas and enjoyed myself. It's mainly a buffet place with some fairly brisk business. The buffet stations were clean and the food was well stocked and fresh tasting. Like iced tea refills? Hope so, because they will be coming around to your table every 2-3 sips and offering a refill; it's nice enough, but a bit much - let me eat! Decor is okay, but if you sit in the side room, be prepared to be next to tubes of neon framing the insides of all the windows. I would go back for sure. read more
