My husband and I found China River when we moved to the area two years ago and we love it! Their food is always great and they're really quick with deliveries. But I have to say after the service I had today, we love them even more. This afternoon on my way home from work I ordered dinner and planned to pick it up but a huge storm came through. I called and asked if they could meet me at the door since it was storming and I had my baby in they car. They told me to stay in the car and they would come to me!!! This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Humble. The food is great, delivery is super quick, always hot and the prices are very reasonable. I always order delivery. They have a $15 minimum delivery charge so for $20 I get 2 excellent meals including tip and I do not have to cook, wash dishes or leave the comfort of my home. read more

The employee taking my order over the phone wasn't the best, However the food looks fine and the sweet and sour chicken is amazing, the lovmein has a burnt stove taste .. Teriyaki Chicken: I was waiting for something delicious but once again I was disappointed. After living on the west coast for over twenty years. I know what it supposed to look and taste like. Man, Google reviews were amazing for this place. I don't know if I should alter my perception of Google reviews or what, because it was way off what I perceived. We were told by the lady bussing tables to please sit towards the back because she had just finished cleaning the front. What? It was empty when we came in. After we were seated we got a bowl of crunchy egg noodle strips. I proceeded to hear loud Chinese (both Cantonese and Mandarin, btw) conservation about pricing and other strange topics. Dinner specials are about 6.95-7.50. Specials come with rice, an egg roll, and a soup. The bf got Mongolian trio I got the chicken chow mein. Both the wonton soup and sweet and sour were underwhelming. My hot and sour was neither hot nor sour (traits typically from the addition of vinegar and chili). My main dish was still underwhelming. I was expecting wok fried soy sauce egg noodles with chicken and some veggies- I got some strange overly oiled cabbage and chicken combo with rice and some fried egg noodle topping (like you put on salads). Major disappointment. Bf's dish was more of what I was expecting mine to be like- had a little wok hai (that taste you get from a properly oiled and heated wok), but not much. To finish, every dish was overly sweet, like that strange after taste you get when you eat something with a lot of MSG. I'm a Chinese food snob mainly because I come from a family who cooks very, very good homemade Chinese food. This place probably never had a chance from when I walked through the door. However, I try to be less critical when it comes to these joints. Hell, I'll even frequent Chinese buffets regularly without too much complaint. One extra star because the waitress is attentive. I called for a delivery order, and confirmed my address with a lady who answered the phone. She was getting ready to take my order. Then some man working there ( I could hear in the back ground), told her I can only pick up my order. When I asked why she said, because they we're to busy all of a sudden. Unless you like PF Changs,which to me is not what I consider Chinese food, you have to pretty much find some place by word of mouth and usually they are some refurbished restaurant that looks even more sketchy. Brings me to this diamond in the rough. I heard about it from a family member (neat freak). I walked I. And the place is pretty taken care of. There me I consists of all the Chinese cuisine that I grew up on as a kid! My grandma lives pepper steak, which you can't find at PF Changs. They also give huge portions! Enough for you to eat off of of for at least two to three meals. The staff is very nice and attentive and answers every question I asked. Bathroom was clean and it's ALWAYS packed at lunch time. Food is not that great and unless you go and eat there you order is all mess-up, the delivery guys are rude if you don't give them a tips, one of them the young slender one told my daughter that if she is that cheap she shouldn't be ordering food she should make her own food.... really?! Well maybe if they want to make more money should look for another job instead of working for tips. read more

This is a great find. small little restaurant but so worth going to. their lunch special is great, they give lots of food and its all yummy. General Tso Chicken is yummy along with the hot sour soup and cheese puffs. very good! i noticed they deliver as well, which is awesome because i live in the area. this is my new favorite restaurant, i high recommend to at least give this a try. read more

Good food at a very reasonable price. I eat at China River almost every time I visit Humble and am never let down. On my most recent visit I ordered BBQ to roast pork,which is my favorite menu item and China River fried rice which is a massive dish of fried rice with chicken, pork and shrimp. The pork is an appetizer for 4.85 and the rice sells for 7.95 three people could easily dine and be satisfied on those two dishes. My dining companion ordered beef with snow peas. We ended up sharing and both left with enough left overs for another meal, possibly 2 each. For such a tremendous value the food is excellent. I would gladly pay more. China River is one of Humble's best hidden spots! read more

The food at this place is not worth what you pay. There are several other places in town that have better food for the same price. Also the service is not very friendly. Just went to this place do not get the duck it's horrible it's like duck jerk if you can even bite into it very very over cooked. I ORDERED 2 FAMILY DINNERS FOR DELIVERY G4 & G11 THEY ARE PRICED AT $12.92 ea & come with soup & an egg roll I " repeated " my order 3 times - yes, # 3 times , When the order arrived what was in the bag was 2 entrees , one priced $ 11.95 & the other at $ 10.50 I called and asked to speak to the manager who was the delivery person. The same person apparently does both, I therefore think they do not have a real manager. The girl who took the order had to be told what both G4 & G11 WERE COMPRISED OF. Apparently she didn't have a menu to read what each was comprised of. Best triple delight and Mongolian dishes in Houston!! Literally have had this dish 9 out of 10 times! I really have a hard time giving you any advice on anything else. This review is Bias as it is based on their signature dish and it's amazing!! Decided on Chinese take out for dinner since it had been soo long since I have had Chinese food. Found this place online, through Google and saw reviews people had and decided to give it a try. We ordered, over the phone, Beef and Vegetables dinner combo which came with the usual soup choice, egg roll and rice. My daughter wanted the Singapore noodles, although we had no idea what these even were! Also got her some steamed rice. My dinner was good, but not enough flavor I felt. The beef was very tender though, which I love that! The fried rice was alright, same as others. The egg roll was great, but hey its fried and those always taste great. Now the soup, I always get hot & sour....it had a thick broth which really didn't taste like most hot and sour soups so that didn't get finished. The singapore noodles had chicken and shrimp in them. They were supposed to be Spicy & Hot...don't think it was that hot. My 13yr old was eating them and she said they were okay. From what I saw of the inside..it was nice and I wouldn't mind trying other items from their menu another time. The cashier was very nice when I picked up my food. We were so tired from our adventure today that we chose not to leave our hotel for dinner. After a short deliberation and a coin toss, we decided on Chinese takeout. Im usually a little nervous about trying a new chinese restaurant, however we were happy to find a place near the airport. The food was delivered to our hotel room, hot and delicious in under 40 minutes. The breading on the sweet and sour chicken was light and seasoned. I would've liked the option to pay more for shrimp fried rice because the regular fried rice was bland but I enjoyed the freshness of my veggies. This place was recommended to me by my vegan nephew and i was pleased with it. I will for sure be visiting again since I don't live far. The staff here is careless & owner cares nothing about her customers or their health & safety. The staff did a switcheroo on our drinks with drinks from another customers table. It was a good thing I used my own straw which was a different color from the straws they use otherwise I wouldn't have been able to catch their mistake. When it was called to their attention, per the owner, the staff refused to make the situation right by giving fresh drinks to ALL customers involved. When the manager/owner was requested, they refused saying she said "do not replace/remake the drink."The owner could've used this incident as a learning experience to educate her staff but she refused and chose to shame me as a customer. With Covid-19 & other Viruses going on, she should've advised her staff to replaced the drinks that should've been a no-brainer but she and her staff blatantly refused. I was long-time, loyal customer but not anymore. I will never return due to owner's rude and unprofessional behavior and I would not ever recommend China River because of how they handled their mistake. The owner has posted my photo in the restaurant with a no service sign as if I had done something criminal. The owner's solution was to pay for a drink we couldn't enjoy and remove my review of my experience and then she'll take my photo down. I refuse! I will remain on her China wall of fame PLEASE AVOID China River, its simply not safe or healthy and there's much better Chinese food options nearby. read more

What can I say....the only Chinese place that delivers in my area. They are always on time and in most cases early. Food is excellent, general chicken is the best next to China town. The pan fried dumplings are great and filling. I love the house special lo main but b ready because you can feed an army with this dish. I love the egg rolls well filled and very tasty.
