This is your typical Chinese take restaurant. They're located near Star Market and have a small parking lot. I called my order in and my order was ready in 10 minutes. They have good lunch specials every day from 11-3pm that comes with white or pork fried rice and choice of appetizer for about $10. I also like their all day specials which have a lot of options. Last time, I got the General Gau with Crab Rangoon and Pork Fried Rice (All day special of Choice of House Special and appetizer with pork fried rice or white rice). I like their other dishes, but the General Gau tasted a bit off since since it came out flat and was mostly white breast meat. Overall, I enjoy their generous portions and pricing and will be back.

Fresh and Fantastic! I stop here whenever I am in the area. Mostly takeout but there are a few tables , the staff at the counter is so nice what a great group of people! The food is fresh and so tasty, The takeout packaging was great plastic with lids not the old foam style which leak . The hot and sour soup is great and thanks to everyone there!

WOW! Quick, affordable, HUGE portions, 'old school' & great flavor! E Z parking. Most definitely coming back .... And I'm 18 miles away. Mostly take-out and there are a few tables for eat-in. I could go on and on , or just say, urge, INSIST that you try this out!! If I lived closer, id be here all the time!!u

China Chopstick had been recommended by several neighbors and I knew I had to try it! I called for pick up and ordered two all day specials and was given the total and estimated time -- only 10 minutes! As we arrived, there were several other customers waiting for their orders. The orders are clearly identified by customer's names written on the bag. Our order was ready by the time we arrived. Even after 30 minutes, our food was still warm. I am surprised by how large the portions are!!

Why Yelp. Is only 2 To 3 Stars.

The restaurant is relatively small and only have 17-20 seats. I ordered Chinese sausage and bacon clay pot rice and shrimp rice rolls with eggs. They aren't stingy with the shrimp and the claypot dish is also tasted like grandma's cooking. Service was awesome. Server was very welcoming and considerate. We ordered a rice roll as usual--the female owner accidentally handed the dish to another table, and it sat there for about five minutes or so, while the couple was talking over the dish. Then the female owner apparently realized the dish was handed to the wrong table, she took it back into the kitchen (as a deception, thinking we wouldn't realize it's the same dish, we saw her through the curtain, she was holding the same dish the whole time--she didn't know we were watching and rightfully suspicious of what she was sneakily doing), then brought it out right back to our table. We did not want to say anything. But it was disgusting, people do spit onto the dish when they talk over it during those five minutes, you know? We were too shy to cause a scene or destroy the long standing relationship. Further, we couldn't afford to let that $12 or so dish go to waste. So we tried eating it. Afterward, we felt so disgusted. And that was the last time we went to Big Fun Cafe. Two years or so ago. Even after learning of its new location in Brookline, we are just so disgusted by the memory of the incident described above -- so we never tried their Brookline location. Note to the owners: for future customers, such mistakes do happen, but please have some integrity and just discard/trash the contaminated dish -- or if you want to be so cheap, eat the contaminated dishes yourself. Don't be so stingy and deceptive so as to hand it to your presumed naive customers. That was extremely disgusting and even two years later, we're still disgusted by it.

Totally incongruous with the surrounding environment. Walked in... nothing fancy. Maybe 5 tables. The food was just not good. I had the big wonton soup ( the one with all the extras ). The broth was very bland. The wontons were the nice thin wrappers, but the filling tasted "off". And there was enough noodles in the bowl to make it difficult to eat. I ate a few bites and left the rest. I also ordered the boneless spare ribs. They had a nice cook to them. Nice color. Nice charing. But... just not flavorful, and dry. Very dry. I ate a few pieces, and left the rest. Over all, I would not recommend nor return.

We tried Rubato Cafe and then found ourselves at Bayao, just a stone's throw away, and WOW, what a different vibe. Walk into Bayao and you're hit with bright colors, neon signs, and a decor that feels like a love letter to Hong Kong, whether you grew up there or not. The tables even look like mahjong sets, and they've got posters from classic Hong Kong films. By the time I saw In the Mood for Love (where my fellow Wong Kar-wai fans at?) in the bathroom area, I knew these folks understood ambiance. But let's talk food. I had the chicken tomato macaroni soup, a comforting, flavorful bowl of nostalgia. The chicken was freshly fried and super tasty, exactly why Hong Kong cha chaan teng comfort food is a thing. My friend got the chicken pineapple bun, and while the bun wasn't a perfect replica of the classic (or what we'd prefer, a genuine bo lo bao), I'm now thinking maybe a sturdier bun makes sense to hold it all together. (Maybe I shouldn't have been so upset at Rubato in my last review. HMM.) It tasted good, and I appreciated the cute "Time to Bread" toothpick flag. The Ovaltine French toast was a showstopper. It looks unassuming, then you cut in and BOOM! Chocolate lava oozes out. It's sweet, but hey, dessert is dessert. Prices were reasonable, around $11 for the pineapple bun, $13 for my hearty soup. In the end, Bayao didn't just feed us; it took us on a trip. I'd happily return for both the flavors and those Hong Kong feels.

Nicely cooked shrimp. Black bean sauce was subdued, though with noticeable ginger every fourth bite or so. Good. -- Chau Chow Style Clams: The big winner, with flavor galore from the chives and the tiny dried shrimp as well as tiny shreds of pork and the namesake ingredient. Hints of black bean sauce in a thinned-down broth. Great on its own and mixed with white rice. -- Chicken with Fried Garlic: Stellar as well, but a repeat item, so the greatness wasn't a surprise like the clams. Crispy, juicy, strongly flavored of marinade that stood out even with the garlic (mild, not bitter) and salt. Some light heat in there too. Elite and a perennial must-order dish. -- Beef Chow Foon: First time offered a choice between wet and dry. I remember the last time it was soaked with sauce (delicious though), so went dry this time and enjoyed it more. Very soft noodles, beef very tender, and much more of it than you would expect for the fairly reasonable price. The bill adds up quickly but I contend there's good value-- unless you need good service to have good value. After three visits, I can say the food is mostly spectacular, but the servers are anything but attentive. It's almost as if they go out of their way to ignore your table even when it's literally on their way. I'm willing to make the tradeoff but not willing to pretend there isn't one.

Ever since Double Chin Restaurant in Chinatown closed (may she rise again), I've been on a mission to find a worthy fried chicken bolo bao. My friend and I trudged into Rubato on a cold, rainy day, hoping for a replacement. Spoiler alert: we did not find one. We ordered four items: rice rolls with curry fish balls, an egg custard lava bun, Ovaltine French toast, and the fried chicken bolo bao. The rice rolls were mild but fine, topped with enough cilantro and scallion to keep it interesting. The lava bun was hot, gooey, and did its job. (GOOD JOB, LAVA BUN!) The Ovaltine French toast? Eh, it aite. But here's the heartbreak: the chicken bolo bao. The chicken wasn't hot; it had that "sat around" feeling. And the bun? Just a dressed-up brioche, missing that true bo lo bao magic. A brioche bun with a crackly top is not a bo lo bao, my dudes. In short, everything was edible, but nothing made me want to come back. (It's not like watching like a hawk for an empty seat and swooping in the moment one opens up is any fun.) The chicken deserved better.
