The food is amazing I have ordered from there twice from a friend's house I think they are better than the one by me

When ever we are in the mode for Chinese food this is the only place I will eat from. I have never had a dish from here that I didn't like. I am a retired diesel mechanic also a great cook that cooks for 7 mouths that always hungry lol. China Star to me makes the best Chinese Dishes around. China star is a fast food , Over priced low quality " restaurant " the chicken dishes are made with fatty chicken thats pounded thin. They skimp on quantity and they have an attitude if you ask for extra condiments. The LAST time I ordered over the phone for take out, the order was partially wrong. This Chinese Takeout is pretty tasty. Ribs were done well and egg rolls were crispy with a nice flavor. Sometimes egg rolls in other places can taste weird. We also had the House Fried Rice which was nice and dry, not greasy, and filled with all kinds of goodies including, shrimp, chicken, pork and veggies. Beef and broccoli was ok. The meat was a little mushy but the broccoli was crispy and the sauce was delicious. I also had the Wonton soup and I have to say it tasted very fresh and the wontons were firm and soft and delicious to the bite and the broth with spring onions and bits of pork, were yummy. I just ordered from this place!!!! Terrible TERRIBLE!!! The food was cold! They told me the total and then charged me 2 extra dollars. They added a charge for duck sauce; it's suppose to be free with a meal! Then I open my chicken wings and fries, those fries where nasty! The wings were tiny! This "China Star" in Mastic Beach is the best Chinese food on Long Island. The ingredients are always fresh and they're glad to customize our order just the way we like it. For example, we order the ribs well done with no sauce, and the house special fried rice made with brown rice. Everything is delicious, we have tried their garlic chicken with veggies, teriyaki chicken over cabbage, sweet and sour chicken that's still crispy when you get it, noodles, dumplings, ribs, all of it has been so delicious. read more

China Star is close by me and offers a large lunch menu. Only problem is, more than once we have ordered white or brown rice with our food and been given pork fried rice. My son eats kosher and I am HIGHLY ALLERGIC to pork. Another time I ordered a noodle soup and again, PORK instead of what I asked for. I'm not going there anymore. read more

Been getting take out since they opened. There was a period of time when the food was not up to par but they bounced back. The egg drop soup is always brothy and seasoned well. Have also gotten fried rice, different noodle dishes and sesame chicken. None of my food has ever been greasy or oversauced or over cooked. Fried rice was mediocre, the service was more so, ribs were burnt, chicken was rubbery, and it gave me the shits.

Before the pandemic, the food at China Star was mediocre but was decent enough to curb the crave. My family and I stopped going because they could never get the order right and we were constantly missing items from our order that we paid for. We tried them again because they were the only Chinese restaurant open in the area during this pandemic. Huge disappointment, but not surprised. Aside from some missing food, the biggest upset was the chicken with garlic sauce, it tasted like duck sauce, and the pork egg foo young. I got Burnt ribs. Took them back and she told me they were fine. Folks they were burnt real bad. She told me if I wanted new ribs I would have to pay. So I took them and threw them out in front of her and told her she will never see me again. And she's not even the real owner. The owner is in China right now till the end of the summer. I am giving this place one star because every time I order from them they forget something and treat me like it's my fault. I was in a hurry and grab my order and when I got home I noticed I was missing the sweet-and-sour sauce which are use on everything! The owner said she was sending the delivery guy out with the sweet-and-sour sauce and I would be his first stop by 30 minutes later I had to call and ask where he was and the daughter said that I was told I would be for us in the next round of deliveries. My food was ice cold by the time I got the sweet-and-sour sauce and I had to microwave it which never taste the same after microwaved. Just moved into the Mastic Beach area... this will deff be our new favorite chinese food place!!!

Me and my family have been going to this place since the day they opened. At first we were happy because they were a lot better tasting, clean AND cheaper than the other place we used to go to, but lately they've lost their touch. At least once a week we have Chinese, the past few times we have ordered the food was terrible. Those few times we ordered all of the spare ribs, the steak, and both chicken dishes were hard, it was similar to chewing on my dog's rawhide. It's strange, you can't tell when you bite into it but the shreads of the meats are like little pieces of plastic, on more than one occasion the rice was cold in the container and when I heated it up it tasted stale. Almost every time we end up throwing the food out. I don't know what's going on but I think I'm going to start looking for another place. This happened before where they lost touch and ended up coming back better, I'll check back in a few months to see. read more
