It was my first time ordering here. I wanted to try it even though it had a 3 star rating compared to another nearby Chinese restaurant. When I first pulled up I wasn't impressed with how the place looked. The person who took my order didn't speak very good English but seemed to understand me. Unfortunately I got the wrong item on one of the entrees. However, the food was quite good regardless. I will definitely give them another try. I haven't had luck in finding good Chinese food in Lake county but I believe my quest is over. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

Looking for delicious Chinese takeout, well you've found the right spot in town! China Town has been my favorite place to eat for years, and hopefully, many years to come! I absolutely love love love this place and would recommend it to all my friends, and strangers alike!

Normally China town has fantastic food but seems to have gone a bit downhill lately. Just had beef lo mein and there was barely a vegetable in sight. Fried rice and crab ragoons were good but beef lo mein was Disappointing

I've driven by Chinatown several times in the past but only just went in here tonight. There was a constant hum from the kitchen as 6+ people prepared take-out orders for the customers coming in and out. The large take-your-own-condiments area was also quite impressive. I ordered Crab Rangoons, Pork Eggrolls, Beef Chow Mein (for the aunt), and General Tso's Chicken. The Crab Rangoons and Eggrolls were good. I was thinking the Chicken was alright- nothing to write home about - UNTIL I ended up with a piece of what seemed like Saran Wrap plastic in my mouth. Uhh...grosss. I did call the restaurant, who apologized and asked if I wanted them to make me a new one (No, thanks..I've pretty much lost my appetite). Shortly after getting off the phone, I tried to force down the rest of the food on my plate...and then bit into something hard: seemingly a piece of bone. Really? My appetite is now TOTALLY gone, and the leftovers are going into the trash. For a $9.50 take-out entree, I'd expect fewer foreign objects in my food.

I just order2 lunch n 2 drink both delicious total only 15 +++ great food . I very like Hong Kong chicken

I recently moved back to McHenry County after 15 years China Town was always my "go to" for Chinese carry-out back then. I decided to give it a try again. I am disappointed. I had wonton soup & chicken & vegetables with fried rice. The rice is orange, hardly any flavor to the chicken dish. They did not put soy sauce in the to go bag. I won't go out of my way to order from here again

The best, most wholesome, freshest, and most delicious chinese food in the area. Friendly owners, large portions, no MSG, special requests are happily accomodated (if you want something they don't serve, they may work out how to make it, test it out as a special, and possibly even add it to the menu in time). Mostly takeout, but dine-in is available in simple, semi-self-serve style storefront room.

However, I feel like they've completely branded it the wrong way. This is clearly a tiki bar in the middle of McHenry, Illinois. I would come here solely based on their drinks and appetizers. Classic dishes, such as Pork Chop Suey or Shrimp in Lobster Sauce were not listed on the menu. I think the menu was designed to cater to the McHenry County palate and not necessarily Chicagoland masses. The classic fried boneless chicken pieces tossed in sauce and placed over rice were available. To be specific, General Tszo's chicken and sesame chicken seem to be popular. There are also chicken and steak dishes which I thought were sorta appetizing. I ended up getting the chef's pot stickers, an eggroll, and the Bird of Paradise meal. It's true, the eggroll was pretty delicious. So were the potstickers. My meal seemed to be very carb forward, and the beef was generally tasteless. I took my meal to go after having maybe two bites out of it. Today I took about half of it and reheated it in a large pan with scrambled eggs. I also added the hot mustard and stirred it into the dish so it could spread out. Paired with soy sauce, it really made the dish have so much more flavor. I'm used to eating at restaurants in Chicago that are really challenging my pallet. This place is very safe for people who are generally not adventurous eaters but do want to get an introduction into Chinese food. Again, I can't stress enough that if you're home from college for the summer break, or you are a 30 something working individual looking for somewhere to let off some steam in the middle of McHenry (when it seems like there is nowhere to go) -- come here. It has the best vibes. The Staff and the owner are super friendly and very accommodating. I got everything necessary to package up my food to take home. Although most places operate this way, it was nice to be able to just give my card at the table and have it run through while the waiter was standing right in front of me. Come here to party. This is the perfect venue and the tiki drinks are fire!

My general opinion on this place still stands, it's good from time to time but it's inconsistent…read more Today was a pretty good day here, everything was done correctly although it was all luke warm at best. Sometimes my fried dumplings are hardly fried at all but today they had great texture. Those are my must have item, I order them every time. The white rice is... white rice. Can't mess that up. The fried rice had plenty of vegetables, I find the color a bit unnatural but the flavor was good enough. The wonton soup was good but really should have been hotter, I live very close by and always pick up on time so the drive time isn't an issue. The egg roll was decent and the warmest item we got. The Tso's chicken had a great sauce and decent texture but given how hot the container was and how luke warm the meat was its obviously pre made (I'm guessing everything is here, unless your lucky). The place itself is a dingy hole in the wall spot. They do have a few tables but it's not an environment I'd want to hang out in so it's mostly a take out joint. The service hurts their score more than anything else. Their phone etiquette needs a lot of work, today they did a good job but normally they rush through the process and you feel like they don't even want your business. They might ask for your name or phone number or even give you an order number but the language barrier can complicate the pick up process so they often figure out which order is yours by asking what's in your order. A concrete system that the workers understand would go a long way to fixing this issue. Most orders take no more than 10 minutes to prepare so make sure your close by before you call or your luke warm food will end up cold by the time it hits your table. Overall this place is hit and miss but it's somehow the best bet for Chinese in this area.
