On Mondays, there are not many Chinese takeout places open. We tried China Wok because it happened to be open and pretty close to where we live. I ordered the general tso chicken mild. It came with chicken fried rice, which was very good! I was happy with the meal overall. I prefer a crunchier chicken, that is why they didn't get 5 stars. The lady at the counter was very nice and seemed genuinely happy to assist me with my pickup. The ambiance is what you would expect from a Chinese takeout place near a university campus. I love China wok!!! This is the only place that I found that has the perfect general Tso's tofu! I found this place a few years ago on Grub Hub and been eating there ever since. My favorite dish from this spot is the veggie delight and then I order the general tso's tofu mild-spicy. By far this is the only Chinese restaurant that I have tried to perfect that sauce on the tofu. And it's crispy like the chicken which I love. Both items come with white rice and you get a nice selection of veggies with the veggie delight (carrots, onions, pepper, broccoli, mushrooms, mixed in The sauce). The veggie delight also has a few pieces of tofu in it but I order extra for the sweet and tangy sauce. The small size for both dishes are more than enough for one person. I definitely recommend this spot if you love Chinese food and you are vegetarian. They are now officially open for dine-in. And oh! Their sweet tea is fire! They serve it in a big plastic cup with a lid which gives you about two servings. It kind-of reminds me of a lemonade/tea mix. Not too sweet with a little bit of tang. The staff is pleasant and I go so much that the lady who does the orders almost have mine memorized lol. Husband and I had a craving for Chinese so ordered some delivery via GrubHub. Even though it was done through GrubHub the food was delivered from a China Wok employee. We got everything we ordered and faster than the estimated time. I tend to order the same Chinese regardless of where I order, I like what I like! Our meal started with a pint of Hot & Sour Soup. Soup had the good traditional taste, little spice as intended. We also shared an order of Steamed Dumplings. Came with 7 dumplings of a standard size. They were cooked well; filling was a little bland but good. For entrees we both got Combination Plates which come with Chicken Fried Rice and Egg Roll. Most Chinese places its pork fried rice so that was a little different. I would say their fried rice is pretty basic, had a little cabbage and onions but no peas, carrots, or corn like some places. I like the inclusions for varying taste and texture, it also helps everything not look so brown., so it was a little disappointing for me. Egg roll was nice in crispy, even with delivery time. As it was chicken fried rice, I got Roasted Pork Lo Mein (normally would do chicken). The Lo Mein was tasty and did have some nice vegetable inclusions. Hubby got the General Tso's Chicken as his main entrée. He felt it was lacking the spicy aspect that kind of differentiates it from Sesame Chicken, but still tasted good. Overall, I would say China Wok satisfied the craving and I would order again, but nothing we ate was particularly special. Standard Chinese take-out taste which is common most places in the area I will say their combination plates were enough food for 2 (maybe even 3) meals and were very inexpensive so that for me is also a positive. read more

I had not tried this little restaurant located in the UNCG area before just recently.This is a typical Chinese Take Out restaurant offering up basic Americanized Chinese dishes. I ordered Mongolian Beef, Shrimp Egg Foo Young, Shrimp Fried Rice, Egg Roll, and Fried Chicken Wings - pretty standard fare for me, and that which I usually order from two local favorites, the Golden boys, Dragon and Wok! Nothing was remarkable about any of the items - the best of the lot was the Mongolia Beef (though a bit sweet) and the Shrimp Fried Rice. The Egg Foo Young was considerably overcooked, almost at the burnt stage. The Chicken Wings were just average, and the Egg Roll was awful, stale tasting. No return visit here! read more

Ordered for delivery, & although it came fast it was a disappointment in taste. The steamed dumplings were too doughy & were not cooked all the way. The fried chicken had too much breading on it and was over cooked. The bits of chicken in my chicken fried rice was dry & hard, almost like the rice had been sitting for a while. My other combo was missing it's side of fries, but they did send the delivery guy right back to my house to deliver it to me after I called. That may be the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. I got the student special which runs you about seven bucks. It comes with either an eggroll or a soda and there are about 10 entrées to choose from. The fried rice was the most unnatural yellow-orange color I have ever seen. I feel like I just upped my cancer risk in eating the a few bites that I did. Fortunately I wasn't tempted to eat too much because it was terrible and tasted nothing like asian fried rice! The chicken and broccoli entrée was subpar with a thin flavorless brown sauce. If you are in the area and craving Asian food, there are better options (albeit slightly pricier) within the Tate Street area. It appears this place has recently sold to new management... The guy taking orders at the front counter is always rushed, confused and has NO customer service skills whatsoever. The food quality has taken a nosedive.... horrible! I HAD eaten there as a "regular" for the last 6-7 years.... Recently I had a serious issue with my bill... something THEY messed up. When I asked for the name and phone # of owner, the counter guy (Dian?) said I could just deal with him...and he promised to offer me a free meal to compensate for their mistake and the aggravation. WELL... when I called him a few days later to place an order for the so-called "free meal".... he was a total ass. He hung up on me multiple times, and refused to honor and follow thru on the complementary meal he had promised. The food sucks and the main counter staff guy has NO integrity at all. Formally, i was not an advocate of this run of the mill, ordinary Chinese take-out restaurant. However, recently, i was forced to order food and was pleasantly surprised with my experience. China wok is located in the heart of UNCG, and has had some rough times with employees, primarily drivers. They have changed their staffing completely (including the woman answering the phone and the delivery driver as well) to people who are much more friendly and experienced with customer service. I was also happy to see that they are branching out with their menu selection and offering items that are not traditionally on a Chinese take-out menu. I ordered the mango chicken and the sauce was delicious. The owner is a very nice man who lives across from the restaurant and i am glad to see that he is making some serious changes for the better. The delivery driving REEKS of cigarettes so bad you can smell it on the bags the food is in. There was hair in two containers of my food and the food was bland and soggy. I don't get the vibe anybody gives a shit at this place, probably not even the owners. A real shit hole. I ordered delivery from here for the first time during the dreary and rainy evening yesterday around 8pm.The person who took my order was quite friendly and pretty thorough. I guess they've improved a lot in terms of customer service in lieu of previous reviews, which is great and means that they're listening to what we Yelpers have to say! It took about 35 minutes from the time I ordered for it to be delivered, which is not bad as far as Chinese takeout goes. I got the sesame chicken under their specialties section to play it safe because honestly, you can't go wrong with this classic Chinese take-out dish. If a restaurant can make a really good sesame chicken then I am always up to try other things on their menu. I'm happy to say that their's did NOT disappoint! It was still crispy enough and piping hot when I opened up my box. The sauce was just the right amount of sweetness and not too goopey like some other places. Needless to say it didn't take me long to devour every last bite. I have a feeling this place is going to be one of my favorite Chinese restaurants! You guys should totally give it a try! read more

Greensboro is a little desolate as far as decent Chinese food- but we do have these standard greasy delivery places. China Wok is alright- and it gets points for location, but it loses points on consistency of food quality. I've had really awful smelling and tasting food from here on two occasions- but I've probably eaten here about 25 times, so that's not that bad for what it is. The absolute worst Chinese Restaurant I have ever been to. I ordered the shrimp fried rice & chicken wings which is something that I usually eat from any Chinese restaurant. The wings were clunky & unappatizeable and were by far the nastiest chicken wings I've ever had from anywhere. The shrimp fried rice's taste was very bland even with soy sauce. The rice didn't even have vegetables in it, only onions & exactly 7 peices of shrimp on my entire plate. I ordered this through Grub Hub without looking on yelp reviews. The order was delivered to me faster than Jimmy Johns (someone else's order). The food was nothing that blew me away but it satisfied my Chinese food craving. I ordered General Tso's chicken, vegetable delight, and edamame. The chicken was good, however, I chose "medium" heat and it was not spicy at all. Next time I will select "hot." The vegetable delight was a bit flavorless. I was also surprised that there was tofu in it. I was hoping it was all steamed veggies, but it was not. It was broccoli, some mushrooms, water chestnuts, mushrooms, etc. covered in some sauce that didn't have any flavor. I place my order and text my delivery driver asking them nicely if they could ask for the sauce at the counter . I end up calling the store just to make sure they're able to put it in the bag for me before wrapping it up. The lady on the phone told me it's extra charge and that she can't do anything unless my driver pays. This is ridiculous because there is no option on the app and I even told her that. She said that there was an option and I should cancel my order and try again. I cancelled it and as I was about to re order I realized once again there was no option for the sauce. I called the store and was on hold for 15 minutes. It was clear they just didn't want to talk and wanted to continuing lying and trying to make me or my driver pay for the sauce. Won't order here again. Never had an issue at any other restaurant for some white sauce and ginger. I would understand if I were there in person then yes I would pay but how am I supposed to pay when there isn't even an option to. The food was alright but definitely would've been better with white sauce. I guess from now on I'll just buy my own sauce at the store . Save yourself a bad experience or several bad experiences by heading a little up Spring Garden to a Chinese place that will actually serve good fried rice in a traditional pint box (not a crappy little plastic plate). Or, better yet, head to Chinese Kitchen near Guilford College. China Wok gets business by being close to campus, giving them no incentive to deliver on quality. If you absolutely have to eat there, avoid the hibachi and go with something generic - the hibachi isn't worth the added cost and chicken and rice is harder to mess up. read more

When I called asking where my food was 2 hours after I ordered, the girl on the phone argued with me about when I placed my order and said "everyone has to wait." Obviously, I was upset. This is your standard, run of the mill fast food Chinese joint--but don't take that as being a bad thing. China Wok has a good selection, including basically everything that you could get at any other fast Chinese restaurant. They deliver (of course), and have a few indoor seats as well. So our neighbor recommended this place, as it is close to home and they said it was good! And I have to say, it is was! Quick, hot and mighty tasty! The only complaint that we might have is that the hot and sour soup could have had more "stuff" in it, the wonton more flavor, but I passed this off as more then likely people not liking the salty taste, which I do, great broth when you are not feeling well, so I added some myself! The egg rolls, well,what can I say! They were very good! The fried wontons! Excellent, nice big and fluffy, as they should be! Over all we are very satisfied, full and sated. We placed an order for delivery to receive only part of our meal, then we called to report the issue only to have the phone answers by a child, once a manager was reached (by a third party not directly) they were unwilling to resolve the matter and wanted us to wait another 45-60 minutes to receive the remainder of what we'd already purchased. Needless to say they ended up picking up our meal and refunding our entire amount. Egg roll was about 2/3 the size of a normal Chinese egg roll. The shrimp fried rice was good, but the chicken fried rice was interesting.
