On my initial visit to this small spot, I opted for Fried Chicken Wings ( a true favorite item in Chinese American spots) with Shrimp Fried Rice, General Tso's Chicken, and a Shrimp Egg Roll (another often ordered item)! The Egg Roll was very nice - well cooked, but not overdone, and nicely filled - the hot mustard sealed the deal. The Chicken Wings were full wings, large and perfectly fried. They were most, tender, and full of flavor. The Shrimp Fried Rice was super - grains nicely separated, a few veggies thrown in, and loaded with great tasting shrimp! The Tso's Chicken was nice, a large portion, and flavorful even if a bit mild. This also was accompanied by even more fried rice, though not shrimp this time. Recently was disappointed by the location. Usually, food has always been good. But recently, I went in and ordered fried rice and egg rolls. The egg rolls were soft and the rice was greasy (maybe old re-fried rice?) and add to that prices have gone up, I am looking for an alternate place, not sure I will visit anytime soon. read more

This is my go to place for Chinese takeout. I like that they have Japanese and Chinese food. The prices are pretty good and the place is fast with your order. This time I ordered the hibachi scallops and wonton soup. Both dishes were hot and tasty. They changed their Japanese menu a little bit with the prices getting higher and no more sweet carrots. The staff is friendly and they just updated the decor with new tables. They also have a high sanitation grade which is a plus. read more

Good Chinese (Chinese-American food) place that also has some Japanese food options. I've only had the lunch combos, but the food is very good for what it is, and you get a huge portion for the price!! I've eaten there at least ten times and have never been disappointed. The staff are all Chinese and are always very efficient with getting your order to you quickly. Their dining area is larger, and much cleaner, than most similar Chinese food places. I was happy to find them and will continue to give them my business. I'm not sure why reviews about the staff being rude. They are there to provide food at a good price. They do it well and efficiently. They are Chinese people, so expect them to be friendly enough, but not all smiles and chit chat al. The time. Ate there today, the person at the cash register was extremely rude. I've had issues with my credit card not reading correctly and she yelled that my card was declined and refused to try it again. I called my credit card company and they said no attempt was ever made to charge my account. The food itself was average at best. They have no soft drinks anymore except bottles. You can get more food better at Mr. Liu's where I'll be going from now on. read more

I love this spot!! I come here for lunch relatively often because of it's close proximity to where I work. It is rarely crowded and even when it is I'm always impressed with how quickly I get my food. On top of that, my food is always piping hot and fresh. Not overly sauced, not a lot of extra sugar in things. My go to is the Szechuan bean curd with fried rice. My only complaint is I wish I could have one close to where I live as well!! read more

Okay so I JUST went in & placed an order for a side of rangoons & a lunch Kung Pao chicken, fried rice, & no veggies. I drive 15 mins home, open my bag, & it's NOT the right dish & had veggies all over it so I called them to tell them they gave me wrong order. She immediately tried to minimize the situation by saying I got what I ordered & that different places make it different ways, which irritated me bc I know this isn't what I ordered. I then told her that I come there a lot & that this is not the dish I normally get & that's when she called me a liar (the first time) by saying she's never seen me before, then proceeded to tell me that she would NOT service me with another meal but would refund me my money, ALL BC I WAS UNSATISFIED. I told her NO, that's not how this works & you don't get to refuse service to any paying customer, especially when YALL are the ones who messed up the order and/or the customer is just unsatisfied. I hang up, finish driving there, park, turn my video on & walked in & started recording. Once manager came out, I handed her the food & asked her why she was trying to refuse me any food after I've already paid & received a messed up order! Her reasoning was, "I thought you said you only eat Kung Pao, so that's why I said I could service you." I NEVER SAID THAT, I even told her I would take a General Tao's chicken instead. Okay, great, they got that working but THEN, for the second time, she called me a liar after I told her that I eat her often & don't appreciate being treated like that & being told that "we cannot service you bc you're 'unsatisfied' & she said "I've never seen you before so I don't think you come here often !" I replied, "ma'am, there's DoorDash, grub hub, & my HUSBAND who picks up our food 90% of time so DONT tell me I've never eaten here before!" you just don't do that. I am very upset, disappointed, & was just flat out disrespected. I will be taking this further bc I am a server & you do NOT refuse service to someone just bc they're unhappy with their food & then cal then a liar when they say they eat here often... Lastly, they also confronted me about me recording on my phone & at this point, I had already turned it off & was googling the establishment so I could write this review while I was waiting, which PISSED me off even more so I aggressively showed her my phone & then started recording again bc THATS MY RIGHT! This place.... I lived off of the Asian beast for four years during college. Yes... it made me fat, but f'in A the place was awesome. Lost it all. Got married. Probably shouldn't got back. To echo David, this is a standard Chinese food take-out and sit-down restaurant -- but with its Japanese options like teppanyaki teriyaki and hibachi, it has something special to offer Winston-Salem. Even the Chinese-American options are better than average. The sweet and sour chicken is classic, using fresh oil and batter for the white-meat chicken and syrupy sweet and sour sauce. The hot and sour soup is good. I always get the veggie hibachi, which has lots of fresh veggies and comes with steamed or fried rice -- made teppanyaki style in front of you, while you wait. The white sauce and ginger sauce are also tasty and made regularly. Nothing greasy-spoon here. If you're looking for classic Chinese-American take-out food or Japanese hibachi without going to a Japanese steakhouse, definitely try Asian Bistro. read more

Came back here to give it another try today. Ordered the vegetable hibachi and fried chicken wings with vegetable fried rice. Literally, come here if you have zero respect for your health. I really was hoping that my opinion about this place would change. But the fried chicken smelled so strong I had to lower my car windows. The vegetables in my hibachi was not fresh. The rice that came with my hibachi was just drenched in soy sauce. I seem to see that soy sauce is a common theme in this restaurant, when in doubt, soy sauce it. Hibachi veggie was $6.95 Chicken wings were $4.95 plus the rice it is $6.00. I had to use the white sauce available at the restaurant to make my food more palatable, sad, more Cholestrol and saturated fat. Stick with the subway next door, if anything, just buy something from food lion and cook yourself something nice. read more

OK folks.... let's get this straight, it's a takeout spot with tables inside. This isn't PF Chang's, but it's a solid choice for Chinese/Japanese takeout. I've looked all over Winston for good Chinese takeout and this my friends is the winner. Make sure you try the hibachi with the white/cream sauce - amazing value for the price. This is one of those Chinese restaurants where they print a name on a menu used by thousands of other restaurants around the country. Had a good sanitation score so it beats most restaurants of this type. Hot and sour soup was thick hot and peppery but otherwise flavorless. Main dishes were sweet which made for a good first impression but got gross quickly. If you are looking for good Chinese try sampan.
