Wonderful restaurant for a lunch hangout with friends! The honeycomb theme is super aesthetic. Food-wise, I ordered the katsuobushi pork ramen, which was delicious! The broth was rich and savory, and it came with multiple slices of meat which just melts in your mouth. The inside is pretty spacious and has smaller booths and bigger tables for groups. We each got a ramen, one boba, one yakitori platter, and one honeycomb app platter. They have the coolest honeycomb seating that make you feel as if you were transported to Japan. The waiter was super helpful in helping us decide what to eat because I was not familiar with ramen before. My husband got the octopus balls, which I was very hesitant to try. Overall, they were very good, and I would eat them again. I was worried about the texture but they were soft and not chewy. I tried the bao bun. The bun was soft but lacked flavor due to having no sauce. I enjoyed my main mea the most. I had the curry ramen with diced chatsu, which was VERY flavorful and the perfect amount of spice. Service wise: Went on a Thursday evening, maybe one of 6 couples in there and it felt like we were being pushed out. Asked four times if the span of 10 minutes if we were ready to order when after the first time they said there's a button to push when ready. Multiple servers came by asking the same questions. This is a solid spot in East Liberty for ramen! Parking is convenient (free for 1 hour in the garage) and they're baby friendly with plenty of high chairs. I got the weekday lunch special recently which included an appetizer and drink for basically the price of a bowl of ramen (it might've been a bit more but still very affordable). I ordered a garlic ramen with takoyaki and amazing lemonade. The ramen was satisfying without being overly salty/fatty, and I have no complaints! They're pan-fried with just the right amount of crisp inside and out. The veg inside were cooked well, not over or under done. Cucumber salad is fresh and crunchy. I was full after this, but I wanted to get the matcha tiramisu for later. Unfortunately the restaurant doesn't do matcha tiramisu to go :( it's not an issue but I would recommend that this restaurant consider making the tiramisu a to go option if possible! Regardless, this is a great spot to eat at and I was able to sit on the elevated portion of the restaurant which I thought was pretty cool. It may be because I'm just like super white and haven't had enough experiences with ramen? But ramen and pho are two of my favorite foods. And i generally find them to be vaguely flavorful and suggestive of ingredients. This place? Best ramen I have ever had. I got the spicy ramen bowl with the pork. GURL. Flavorful, real meat that is clearly cooked and pan-seared, not boiled and bland. Broth that was comforting and flavorful and real. Like... i sat there at the table after it was gone, wondering how I could fit more into my body. I just wanted to keep eating! My husband also loved his curry ramen, and i got to try it. We decided to come on a Thursday night and join the waitlist. We had 12 people ahead of us but took the time to browse the menu and got seated in like 20-30 minutes. We order 2 pork belly and chicken thigh with Leek skewers and 1 Curry Japanese Ramen and the Kyushu Spicy Tonkotsu ramen. Everything was incredible but would recommend the pork belly over the chicken/leek. Add the condiments on the table to level it up. Both ramens were incredibly flavorful and filling! The ramen portions are quite large & delicious (I got a spicy tonkatsu ramen that I would highly recommend), and I would also highlight the chili garlic edamame appetizer (also a large portion, good for sharing). The BYOB option keeps the dinner affordable as well. The only negative is that the restaurant is entirely walk-in (no reservations) so we had to wait a little while for our table trying to go to dinner on a Friday night. Also, service is definitely still getting slightly figured out, as our entrees across our table didn't come out all together. I also ordered a chicken bao bun the sauce was spicy and I was not expecting it however my friend, said there was nothing spicy about that sandwich so try it for yourself. The bao bun was airy and sweet. The pork was tender and had a good amount flavor to fat ratio. The ramen had excellent pork and above average broth. The egg was heavily marinated in soy sauce and tasted amazing with the yolk still runny. My only complaint is I wish there was more black garlic in it and the relative size of the meal(it could've had a bit more noodle and soup). The interior was very nice especially for a date night. The staff and service was good for an afternoon meal. Parking can be a bit difficult. Overall it was a good experience to come back again. We have been anxiously awaiting the opening of Kyuramen so of course had to try it out in its opening week! I was worried it wasn't going to live up to the hype but I needn't have worried. The edamame and pan fried gyozas were particularly delicious. Best edamame I've had in all of Pittsburgh. It was so garlicky and had just the right amount of spice. The gyoza were very light and fresh. I wanted 30 more. Now the main attraction: the ramen. I got the white garlic tonkatsu and the boyfriend got spicy tonkatsu. My white garlic was delicious. The matcha pudding and cherry blossom jello were also really good. The popcorn chicken was good, but a bit light in flavor.
