My husband brought home food for the family, which included orange chicken, broccoli & beef, chow mein, and fried rice. It was gross. The orange chicken was bland and mushy, seemed old. The broccoli & beef had 3 small pieces of beef. The chow mein was completely inedible. The egg roll seemed burnt and flavorless. Only the fried rice and the broccoli was eaten. Made a quick stop in here for lunch while out running an errand. It's just a few doors down from Guava Lava, which was the main reason I came to this plaza. I was in and out of this place within 5 minutes. Just grabbed some chicken low mein noodles and fried rice. I thought the quality and taste was about the same, even actually a little better than Panda Express. Best part was the price. Just under $4. Quick, cheap, and easy. Eat your shoe Wait what did I just say!? Yes If you think " I'm hungry, maybe I'll stop at Chinatown express!" or if you take my advice, all you have to do to get a better meal than here is look down at your feet, pull your shoe off and eat it, condiments are your options. If you still don't believe me, go order food here, take it to your seat, then take off your shoe and eat both items, see which one make you happier. I walked in at 6:30 and the place was deserted. They had all of the food pre made in hot trays under heat lamps. It was like a super run down version of panda express. The broccoli beef dish had "beef" that was about the shade of cardboard. A two item combo was $6.70. I won't forget because she kept point to the two item combo sign. I asked her if they could make a fresh to go order in a square Chinese take out container and she said "yes but too expensive". I mentioned I didn't care about the price and then she pointed to the sign and said you should get special good deal. Ummm I don't want that can I get a to go order made now? " I said YES bit too expensive " she replied. This was repeated 3 times until I turned around and walked out. I feel like she was trying to push me into the old premade food that they were going to have to toss out if no one ate. Surprisingly, this restaurant dishes up really good spicy Chinese food. Their kung pao is absolutely wonderful. I eat so many bowls of rice with it, they go so well together. And the rice is cooked nice and fluffy The location is pretty strange though right next to Home Depot. It's odd how they still have decent business. So it must be the food. They have really good dishes too. I love the orange chicken and egg rolls. You may have noticed that I have been trying a lot of cheapy Chinese places, I am trying to find a good hole in the wall place that is as good as Panda Express, no luck so far. I do like them though. The chow mien is still kind of dry though. I guess I will just keep going to Panda Express until I can get back to Hong Kong. read more

This local family owned and run business serves American style Chinese fare, at a reasonable price with large portions. If you come with relaxed expectations you'll be pleasantly surprised. Nothing too special here in my opinion. Girlfriend and I came in here when we were looking for a new hole in the wall Chinese spot. The food is already prepared when you get there and basically pick and choose much like a Panda Express, but not as many choices. The one thing this place has going is that for the cheap price you get ridiculously huge portions, my girlfriend and I had enough leftovers to make almost another full meal! Don't do it. Went in a couple of times because we were nearby. It probably would have been 2-3 stars if only grades on the food. But, the last visit involved seeing a huge fly land in one of the steam table trays that had the beef and broccoli. Instead of throwing it out, she scooped out the fly and put the tray in the window counter behind her! She then could of easily said something to one of the guys in the kitchen that it had a bug in it, but she kept silent. It stayed on that counter until we left, so I don't actually know if it was thrown out or put back on the steam table after the insect was picked out. Regardless, I was fairly grossed out and now could only recommend this place to people I don't like. :) read more

I decided to try their food this week after a nearby appointment. I started eating my 2piece combo from my car. I had orange chicken with egg roll, and half and half fried rice & lo mein noodles. It was awful! Especially, the orange chicken was Over cooked, bland, and very dry! My egg roll was hard, overfried, and looked and tasted burnt! While driving around a corner, my plate fell out on the floor board spreading it all out on the carpet. This food was so awful, Ididdn't even mind throwing it all out in the trash! Down it went, under $7.00 to dimp it. Having a Chinese take out food restaurant in this center, is a perfect location! It's a great alternative to standard take out. I was craving frog legs so I googled different Chinese restaurants and I saw this place, called and asked if they have frog legs, and the woman on the phone told me they did. I show and ask for frog legs and the same lady who answered the phone said they've never had frog legs. A little frustrating but I love all Chinese food, so no biggie. I get a half chow Mein, half rice plate with teriyaki chicken and orange chicken. I also order 2 egg rolls and 4 wontons. The egg rolls were so greasy that they felt soggy, as if they had been dipped in water. After the third bite and the grease ran down the side of my lips, I couldn't eat it anymore, I had to throw it away. The wontons were pretty good. Crispy and not greasy. The chow Mein and the rice was flavorless. The orange chicken was soooo sticky it was sticking to the roof of my mouth and it tasted more like it was doused in honey than anything else. The teriyaki chicken was flavorless. The food portions are very good for what you pay, but what does it matter if the food has no flavor. Overall very disappointing trip. Basic takeout Chinese food and I love it. They actually have real egg rolls, not spring rolls, which is hard to find out west. We have real egg rolls on the East Coast, so I was happy when they had some here! The wonton soup is great when I'm not feeling well. I get here and it's closed even though it says on here, on their door and on the sign on the door that they open at 10am. I've come to eat here a few times now and this place never disappoints. I had the Noodle bowl with broccoli beef and it was some of the best I've ever had. This is a better version of Panda Express. Bigger portions, better tasting, and they actually have real noodles. The staff is real courteous and kind. I will definitely keep coming here and would recommend this place to anyone. Side note: Please keep in mind that this place is a small mom and pop shop and it's not a restaurant where they make your dishes upon order but it's still delicious. We went to visit a patient at Tri-City Medical Center and had to get something to eat quickly so we did not want to drive to the other side of the freeway. We had a choice between this place, a taco place next door and two other restaurants but I picked this place because they had egg foo young which I had not had in a long time. They have great prices here and we got two 2-item dinners for just over $7 each. I had the egg foo young and pork with rice and noodles and everything was delicious. Perhaps just me, the guy who loves shoes but also loves to eat. I was in Boot World checking out the latest shoe fashion, as classy work boots may be coming back into style, and since it was about dinner time, I asked the sales agent/cashier how the chinese restaurant next door is...long story short, she recommended it. The great thing about this place besides the food is it has plenty of parking, and a good location. Most foods are already prepared, and the kitchen pans can always be heard, which means they are cooking more food fresh every minute. I don't often see this but the cashier/server was one of the most friendly people I have ever met. The food was good, plentiful, and low in salt, which made for a clean, fun, eating experience. The bottom line is, if you want cheap, good eats, check out Chinatown Express. My meal was the fried rice, large noodles, bbq pork, and chicken with teriyaki sauce. I saw all the reviews on here were good so I decided to try it with a friend. Both of our plates tasted like garbage. The food doesn't look bad however the taste was disgusting. I did try the orange chicken over the counter but what I couldn't try was the rice, lo mein and didn't try the sweet and sour chicken because I had expectations. The sweet and sour chicken sauce was bland, the orange chicken sauce left a gross after taste and thick film in my mouth after 2-3 pieces which I didn't notice when I tried the ONE piece over the counter. The rice tasted like cardboard and so did the low mein. When I complained respectfully she gave me hot sauce. If you have to drown out your food with Hot sauce then you shouldn't be in business. Wouldn't give me my money back because I took a bite of each thing. Horrible customer service. Definitely worst place I've ever been. read more

I like Chinese/Asian food! With that said I had lunch here. Lots of combos, Lunch Deal etc. I opted for a Teriyaki Bowl, of which they had a big and small. I chose the small. I was given a choice of meats, as well As Chinese Rice or noodles. I'm not a fancy eater so I stuck with my standard of chicken and rice. I chose the the small bowl and I ordered a small drink. There is a stand alone drink machine for free refills. The price: $7.50 The chicken was precut into long meaty slices and there was little or no gristle. Rice was fresh and tasted as it should. Taste are individuals of course but the Teriyaki topping was very sweet to me. It did not remind me of other such toppings I have had over the years. As it did not appeal to me that much, I added a packet of soy sauce to offset the sweet. It wasn't great, but it was more preferable to me. By no means is this a ding against this establishment. It's just a matter of preference. Many customers came in after me, and some seem to be regulars. If your at Home Depot or any of the many Medical business nearby (Tr-City Hospital is a block up the street) I'm sure you will be happy with what they provide. Wally Space read more

Chinese Food is the crack of my fast food pyramid. If I crave it, I have to have it and nothing will stand in my way. Ok, so this place is literally 30 seconds from my house and this makes me a very happy girl. However, I have bad news and good news. Bad news first : I'm addicted to it. Good news : $6 gets you a to go box of chow mein and fried rice and 2 "whatever you wants". The box will weigh as much as a 6 month old baby so make sure you work out before you venture out on your Chinese food quest. I tried this place today seeing as I work right next to it. I got combo #3, ordering two sides of orange chicken and a main of chicken lo mein. All of this cost me $6.70, which wasn't bad at all. The chicken lo mein was actually really good. I had some with sweet and sour sauce, and surprisingly, enough even though it's probably not as strong as sweet and sour sauce you would get say at Panda Express or a buffet, it was still very delicious. But the orange chicken in my opinion was a little subpar. It was good but not great. It tasted too sweet, and seemed like it needed more spices or something. The sauce also wasn't very thick. It just seemed to make the breading soggy. Also, the chicken was overcooked and was very tough. Over all, the food wasn't terrible or bad. However, given the choice, I would most likely pick a different place to eat. Please keep in mind that I didn't try anything else on the menu so I'm just basing this review off the two things I got today. So it's quite possible that there teriyaki chicken, BBQ pork, or specialty items may be much better. Also I do want a note that the lady that serves you is incredibly sweet. So the service very nice. All in all, my suggestion is if you're in the area, give it a try and see if it's to your liking. But I don't recommend the orange chicken. read more
