Special house Lo mein
Ray L.

Found this place by accident. Went to the shopping mall to pick up my steamed crabs and tried to order pizza and got no answer so decided to give this place try and glad I did. Orders fried dumplings (home made I believe) and it was good Beef with broccoli combination Special house Lo Mein. I know these are the typical American style Chinese food but I'm in the country and I will not get NYC Chinatown type of food here. Overall, it's the best Chinese food I've tasted since I moved to the area. The only negative is they are far from my house

broccoli, cauliflower, and cheese

The food is tasty, especially the Sesame Tofu (Lunch), Kung Pao Chicken (Extra Spicy could be…read moreramped up some, maybe w/ few extra chilis) and Wonton Soup. Sweet & Sour Sauce is nice to mix on white rice. Service was great. Price to portion is fine. Ambiance inside is quaint. Would recommend for a Chinese food fix.

If I was dying, and the only thing that could save me was eating Chinese carry out, I would go to…read moreMcDonalds and eat an undercooked McRib before ever eating here again. It was that bad. Where to begin......beef on a stick and chicken on a stick apps....both overcooked so bad that I can only assume the chef went outside for a smoke break while they were submerged in old cooking oil. 1 bite of each and into the trash. Kung Pao Chicken - I asked for white meat and just peanuts and scallions. I was told "no" because that would require "too much chicken" in the dish if he couldn't load it up with other veggies. We settled on just onions. It was like eating chicken in soy sauce water. No flavor, chicken was chewy and gross. Into the trash. The pan fried dumplings - store bought dumplings that were cheap and had no flavor. At least these were edible, but I could only manage 3 before they too went into the garbage. Bad enough so far? Here's the worst part. Hot and Sour Soup - was so thick and coagulated you could literally cut it with a knife. And it was hot, making it even more disgusting. My son tried it and immediately got up to spit it out and go brush his teeth. I literally spooned some out and it sat in my bowl like it was a flan. I've never seen anything like it. Straight to the trash. And finally, you can't mess up fried rice, right? WRONG. We opened the container and the rice had a grey color I've never seen in food before. See attached picture. I studied it up close because I was so curious how another human would "cook" that and send it out the door with a customer. I refused to even try a bite it was so nasty. How this place remains open is a mystery. This was top 3 worst dining experiences ever. Shame shame China Chef.

Look- this place is 5 stars for customer service and what it really is and doesn't try to be. This…read moreis a Chinese takeout with quality food for good prices. I've been eating here for 2 decades now. From when we vacationed at the grandparents place, to when we built our home down the road. I've been coming here for a long time and have eaten probably 50 meals or so from this place. Not 1 of them was bad or had an issue that bothered me. Maybe a greasy egg roll or two out of 100, but that happens on busy nights when the fryer is getting worked hard and can't hold temp or gets over crowded. It happens to all places. That being said, the egg rolls are really good! Tons of fresh veggies and usually fried to a perfect golden brown with very little residual grease left behind. The mixed combo platters are always very fresh and a good portion. From the chicken and mixed veggies, Gen tso, Hunan chicken, noodle dishes, it's all typically very good food. This place doesn't overly salt their food. They don't cover up things by adding MSG or sodium. Most dishes are simple and fresh, left for the consumer to add soy sauce as needed. I don't usually need anything unless a dab or two on my white rice when I choose that over my go to pork fried. This is fresh, quality ingredients done right.
