This is a solid Chinese takeout spot in the Milford area. We actually drive here from Milton because this is the best option we have around. If you order a protein like sesame chicken, it comes with rice and an egg roll but we do really love the special fried rice as an extra. I must have stopped by on a bad day, but I found No.1 Chinese Restaurant in Milford, DE, to be a major down. Still stuck in Covid protocols, it was really only takeout service, despite the presence of three tables on one side of the room, absence of available restrooms, and disappointing food. Although the Wonton Soup offered during their lunch menu availability was decent, with tasty bouillon and above average wontons, their General's Chicken with Fried Rice and Broccoli, was difficult to eat. The chicken had been frozen too many times, making it stringy and tough. The sauce was okay, but wherever the broccoli had been, it tasted fishy and almost nauseating. The Ried Frice was yellow dyed old and similarly distasteful. Couldn't eat it. The business really needs some refreshing, and management would be wise reopen their service to invite eating in and allowing customers to use their bathrooms. Their prices have responded to recent inflation, but their customer service has not kept pace. Nice people, but the joint needs some TLC. read more

We moved from New Jersey to Delaware last fall and struggle to find restaurants not serving slop. We are very picky about quality food and taste. No 1 Chinese food is excellent, enjoyed 5 dinners so far. Their wonton, egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken, beef with broccoli, general Tao chicken were all excellent. My only gripe is having to use DoorDash for delivery. These delivery drivers don't care if your food arrives hot or if it spilled all over in the bag. Why don't DE restaurants use in house delivery staff?!! We won't order from them if we have to have it delivered, we pick another spot with in house delivery staff. read more

Our first time visiting Milford. We tried No. 1 and found it wonderful. The place was ran by 2 people, the front cashier and a cook. They were able to accommodate our request to modified their dishes to meet our keto diet. Their portions are huge and fresh. We can see the cook made our food and loved the transparency! Ambiance - super hole in the wall. No condiments on the tables. Napkin dispenser on 1 table out of 4. Feels super dingy and not well cleaned. Service - friendly Cleanliness - Way too many flies flying around (July lunch time) no ac, no fan. I was eating there but had to leave because trying to shoo away these flies were too cumbersome and rather disgusting watching them rub their front legs in front of me as I sat there trying to eat. But I don't expect much coming to a take out chinese food place. As long as the food is good, id come back. I just won't eat in. So since the beef w broccoli was pretty good and the price is so affordable, 3 stars. Hard to get any food delivered outside of downtown Milford so I was excited when I saw this place had "free delivery over $10". I ordered small chicken fried rice and a large chicken lo mein. (Which by the way equals $12.) I was told upon ordering that my total was $15. When the food arrived I questioned the additional $3. and was told it was the delivery charge. No tip for you! If the food had been good I wouldn't have minded but the food was tasteless. Ninety percent went in the trash. I can not recommend New No 1. read more

Our family moved to Milford about a year and never had tried the Asian restaurant here. Well we stopped at the Redners grocery store and I was in the parking lot waiting from my husband there was a young man who had a carry out order and it was huge. So I told my hubby let's try this place and I ordered the shrimp fried rice. It was yummy and they put allot of shrimp in their rice. We also had the egg rolls. The food was tasty and the young lady at the counter was friendly. The food came out fast. We always go here. Cheap and good Chinese take out. If you spend over $25, you get free steamed dumplings. They have a few other good deals too, but you have to check out the menu. I've never had a reason to complain about them. You get what you pay for. read more
