We went back because we thought the order is wrong and they told us we didn't know what chow mein was. If you look up ANY picture on google for chow mein, this is not what shows up. I came here for lunch with a friend. I had never been here and was happy to check it out I was pleasantly surprised. The lunch specials were a great price and a very good size. Came with an egg roll and a crab Rangoon. The portions were large and tasty. I got the Kung pow chicken and it was really good My friend got green beans and shrimp. I really liked her dish. You won't get outstanding Chinese food, but they have decent lunch specials and you can taste the "wok-hei" that the stir fry's are cooked with. With the inflation prices, you can get a big portion of lunch special with a hot & sour or egg drop soup for a decent price. I ordered the shrimp and green beans lunch special and it comes with a spring roll, 2 crab rangoons, and a huge scoop of fried rice. We live in Vancouver and hadn't found a good old fashioned Chinese restaurant. Driving around one day we were looking for a place to have lunch in Washougal and just happened upon this possibly. Service was fast and all our old favorites were on the menu. This is the one and only time we've been here, but I'm sure we will be back in the future. Sorry to say not a Good Experience for the first time. I ordered Chicken Curry lunch Special and a order of Fried Shrimp. The Chicken Curry tasted nothing like Curry and there was Four small pieces of chicken and a Lot of Vegetable's, especially mushrooms ( it makes me wonder if I received the wrong lunch special). It had flavor but no Curry. The Fried shrimp is very fresh looking.The batter is much to thick and they do not devein the shrimp, which is a Huge turn off. The Crab Puffs were very Good. The Spring roll was your typical crunchy on the outside mush inside. (Not fresh tasting). I like fresh not frozen. I will try again another day with a friend. Maybe it was just a off day. So this has become the new family favorite. We tried to come here at least every other week if not more for lunch or for dinner this is a great stop. You can do pick up you can call ahead and have your order ready or you can have it delivered by local companies I'm not sure which one they use. Accept credit cards or cash. They have wonderful tea at the table and their soups sweet and sour and egg flower or both very tasty. Everything they make there has been hit. The only thing I wasn't too excited about was the chef's chicken only because it wasn't as flavorful as everything else that they make. I do not normally like sweet and sour but this was actually incredible flavor. The egg foo young the chicken egg foo young or the pork are both extremely good. The garlic green beans, the orange chicken, the chop suey, the shrimp dishes we have tried them all it is absolutely the best Chinese food I've had in 35 years I recommend you go at least once try it out at least try the appetizers the crab Puffs are to die for. read more

Pretty good! We ate here more than 15 years ago and didn't feel the need to return. We thought we'd try again. The new owners have significantly improved the food. The food was all freshly prepared. My family and I came here at 11:45 for lunch. The owner was very friendly. He talked about his restaurant new renovation, and he is going to update his menu. We had 4 dishes in the restaurant. First one is fried garlic salt and pepper chicken wing. Crispy outside, tender and juicy inside. I like it with ketchup. Second one is chow mei which is sweet with right amount of seasoning. Third one is fried eggplant, crispy outside, very soft inside. It comes with sweet and spicy sauce outside. Very flavorful. The last 6 months or so my vegetables are often not fully cooked and the meat is not high quality. Mongolian Beef is tough, onions were way too raw, no char or caramelization. Sweet and Sour breading has been mushy, and poop veins in the chewy shrimp. I'm sorry to say the fried rice isn't as good as it used to be. I have pictures from my order 12/18/2021. WORST CHINESE FOOD I'VE EVER HAD... No... worst FOOD I've ever had PERIOD PLEASE don't waste your money! My family and I wanted to check out this place to support local businesses. We ordered online $75 and (stupidly) chose the 20% tip! BIG mistake! FIRST: EVERYTHING was tasteless, dry, and bland, I am not exaggerating here! If anything I am being kind! (At home my descriptions contained plenty of "colorful metaphors") We ordered the "D" Family dinner... oh wow, where do I begin? The BBQ Pork smelled and tasted like it was going bad. We couldn't eat it. The Crab puffs had no crab in them, seriously just fried batter with batter in the middle! The Sesame chicken, a tasteless slimy mass of battered dry stuff?? that had NO RESEMBLANCE to chicken! The Broccoli beef had HUGE pieces of broccoli (mainly stems) and a few dry gristly beef slices, bathed in watery burnt oil, and again, was completely tasteless! The BBQ Pork Yakisoba... (I really didn't think you could screw this up so badly but they did!) literally tasted like burnt oil! that's it! and the BBQ pork that was in it was so dry and hard we had to spit it out! No amount of soy sauce could help this disgusting mass. The egg flower soup tasted like disinfectant chemicals, I immediately removed it from the table. The Sweet and Sour Pork? Well, THEY COMPLETELY FORGOT IT! (maybe that was a blessing??) The Egg roll, at best, was "OK". Of course the steamed rice seemed fine! (kind of hard to screw up Steamed white rice!) Even MORE disappointing was the order of Orange Chicken (my favorite), When I opened the container I was appalled and didn't want to believe that this could possibly be Orange Chicken, but apparently it was, or at least was meant to be! It was a pale slimy brick of batter shaped like a brain... I had a hard time peeling off a few pieces to even try it but rest assured it was terrible! It tasted like it looked. It must have taken great skill to make this so slimy on the outside yet so DRY on the inside! Again, NO taste, and NO orange!... I did get a TINY hint of orangish? aroma for a brief moment, just enough to let me know that this was supposed to be the Orange Chicken, but that was immediately drowned out by the tasteless greasy battering. The TINY box of Fried rice that came with it was like everything else in this order extremely dry and Tasteless? If I had to come up with a theory as to how this happened, I would guess that all this food was made by someone who saw a bunch of pictures of Chinese food and said "Oh I can do that!" even though they had never cooked, or tasted Chinese food! Also, going by the condition of this food, I suspect that all of it was made much earlier in the week. If you want Chinese food, Do yourself and your family a favor and go someplace else with better, ACTUAL Chinese food (Safeway Deli, AMPM, 7/11... ANYPLACE else) Unfortunately I cannot get my money back or the 20% tip I gave them PRIOR to pickup! I will however, contact my local health authority to let them know about my experience and to suggest a surprise inspection of this place. read more

We have been hesitant to eating here because of some reviews but based on our experience it was a nice meal. My only complaint... I wish the meals came with more fired rice, the fried rice was good. Base on how everything taste, my husband and I agree that they probably don't use MSG. So if you can't eat that then you should probably be okay. Would we eat there again. Every bite was delicious. The egg roll was so good and I'm super picky about egg rolls. The star of the show was the lo mein. Great flavor. Huge portion. I truly loved the old owners and the family immensely, however, sometimes change is nice for everyone. I hope they are enjoying retirement. I am very pleased with the new(er) employees and the atmosphere. I know they've been here a while since buying the establishment, but it's only my second time back. I love how clean it is in here now and also it is much more appeasing to eat in with the wood floors and the dining room being renovated. I'm happy that the food tastes very similar (or even the same) but it seems the passion is back in the food. Here are some pictures. Even the menu is pretty and looks more up to date. Haven't been here in probably ten-plus years or so, not because I didn't like it it's just not been appealing in general. Last Thursday night I was craving Chinese food and my first thought was to try this restaurant, as I had great food from here years ago and frankly the only Chinese food place I know of in the Camas/Washougal area. Had no idea they have new owners. I've walked by a zillion times over the last ten years and it always looked the same. Ordered using their online ordering app, very simple and easy to use. Put in my order around 7pm asked that it be done at 7:30pm for pickup and headed out. Arrived around 7:25pm, walked in, there was a couple ahead of me ordering takeout. I thought to myself, I'd better expect to wait here another 15 minutes this place is packed. The couple left the counter, I walked up and said I'm here to pick up my order please. She said, it's ready I'll go back right now and grab it for you. WHAT??? For real? I did say that out loud and she laughed and said yes sir it's ready. Got home with the order. Everything was packed perfectly, correct and delicious. Our girls had never eaten Chinese food before and were looking forward to this. They absolutely loved everything but the crab puffs. They loved the sweet and sour chicken, garlic beans, egg rolls, veggie fried rice and a couple more items and we were all in food heaven. The girls really fell in love with the sweet and sour chicken and the veggie fried rice. I ordered a ton of food and we ended up having leftovers. The minute the girls walked in the house from school on Friday they both went straight to the fridge and packed bowls full of food. They want to get it again and maybe I won't wait ten years for the next order. This might become a monthly treat and from The Chinese Cafe for sure. read more
