Had a great wor wanton soup lunch here today, in near solitude. I was surprised to find no other customers here, as the service was great, food was delicious and the price was very reasonable. The soup had about a half dozen medium sized shrimp, about the same number of delectable pork filled wontons, barbecued pork, chicken, carrots, broccoli, celery and more in a savory broth that would be good all by itself! As it was cold and wet outside, I was so pleased to have the waitress cone to the table with a complimentary pot of tea; wasn't sure anyplace did that anymore. Oh the lady at the counter is so nice and friendly! I went in, ordered my food, went to Ocean King and came back. Foods ready! She's so good though explaining that I ordered a pound but it may be a little more because it's hard to cut it exactly. I had no problem with that. This roast duck is exactly what I needed! Chen's Good Taste has great Cantonese style Chinese food. Everything is fresh, and their roasted pork and duck are excellent. Our favorite dish is their Super Bowl A wonton noodle soup. I'm so happy we found this location in Vancouver. It saves us a trip to Portland! read more

This is not the same as the Good Taste in Portland Chinatown or on SE 82nd, but the owners are related. The Won Ton soup was average, while the BBQ pork had that off-putting bright pink color. Overall, a classic 3-Star. Staff are very nice. read more

Came upon this little spot tuck in the dark. Standard Chinese eats with a splash of generousity. The Super Bowl was tasty. Lots of meat for this carnivore! Also had to grab a side of roasted pork belly...because....well if their pork belly ain't crispy and delicious, I'll keep hunting for a better spot. But they nailed it. I have often shopped at the market next door but had never stopped in here. I was so very excited when I saw the menu that I had very high expectations and I was not disappointed at all. I had the salt fish friend rice and my partner had the crispy fried noodles with chicken. The salt fish friend rice was delicious. It's not super common to find locally, and the rice was perfect. Every grain was separate, it wasn't gummy or mushy, it wasn't overly salty or fishy, but perfect. It was eggy and delicious, and piping hot. The crispy noodles were packed separately so they wouldn't get soggy on the drive home (we took things to go) and they were amazing. The staff were very friendly, and the decor inside was cozy and clean, with a vibe that was well suited for family style dining. We went around lunch time for a to-go order. Plus they have peking duck, and ginger onion chicken...which we will definitely have to try next time we eat in person. The tripe on the menu looks good too. This place is a hidden gem. Not sure why I haven't stopped here before. It's right next to where I buy live crab. Stopped in today for lunch specials. Super friendly and fast service. Run by a couple and they get busy. Between 1130 and noon all the tables filled up so get there when they open or after the lunch rush. My food was perfect. Fresh, hot, flavorful. I want to try other dishes I saw coming from the kitchen and they all looked wonderful. Entree, fried rice, spring roll, soup, hot tea, and water, was $15 out the door including tip. read more

A few years ago, my favorite local Chinese food restaurant went out of business. I've been searching for a new place to lay claim to, this might be it......the jury is still out. This order was a "to go" order, so I can't speak to the interior or the staff. I had a simple order, the appetizer platter and the Curry Chicken. The appetizer platter had two spring rolls, four crab puffs, four tempura fried shrimp and a huge portion of BBQ pork. I started with the crab puffs which were not great? I suspect had I eaten them right out of the fryer, they would've knocked my socks off! The flavor was good, but they were sweaty and chewy- not in a good way. They did not travel well! The tempura fried shrimp were A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! So light and so good! They were so good, I could've eaten ten more easily. The spring rolls were also very delicious. I appreciate that the fried foods weren't dripping grease. The BBQ pork was typical. Not great, not bad. I didn't get the tangy red sauce I'm accustomed to, but instead had sweet and sour sauce and the hot mustard. There was zero fat, something I truly appreciate! The Curry Chicken was not at all what I expected. The menu picture shows an appetizing and appealing of mostly chicken with some red pepper showing. What I received was a pile of food dominated by huge chunks of green pepper, which I DETEST! It's not enough to pick them out as they contaminate everything they come in contact with. Also had large pieces of celery and another yucky (I know, I'm quite sophisticated!) water chestnuts. The chicken looked great and was all lean white breast meat. It had a very mild curry flavor and a family sized portion to boot! I would try it again, having the offending veggies removed. This is one of my favorite Chinese places in the area. I love that they have the thin pan fried noodles (listed as chow mein), which are surprisingly hard to find. I also get their green bean chicken, which is great. Sauce is flavorful, chicken is tender. I've also never had a long wait. I needed to pick up the order at 11:30, but they don't open until 11:30 so I called & was told no problem. When I walked in at 11:32, my order was boxed up & ready to go! We placed an order online through their website for a variety of items such as Egg Drop Soup, Chicken with Green Bean, Lo Mein with Beef, House Lo Mein, Chicken with Broccoli, Beef Chow Fun with Bean Sprouts, and House Special Fried Rice. Very fresh and authentic Chinese food, and we spent many years in San Francisco, where our office work was close to Chinatown. They have a large menu and are happy to accommodate health needs. This is a family restaurant and the owner and servers are all very nice people and greet us as regulars when we eat there. It's also a large, comfortable restaurant with convenient off-street parking. You can get the usual dishes that people often order but also some wonderful, authentic offerings. Was craving Salted Fish & Chicken Eggplant Claypot and wanted to give this place a try. It was late afternoon and we were the only diners. However the place is pretty busy with a lot of takeout orders. We started with the congee w/ thousand year egg. It came with ground pork which I highly would not recommend adding. The congee and egg by itself was good, but the taste and texture of the ground pork was a little gamey. Congee and egg was a solid 8, ground pork brought it down to a 6. Our next dish was the roasted pork. Decent flavor but wasn't as great as the location in Hillsboro I tried a few years back. 7.5/10. Last but not least was the main dish. Good sized portion. Good temperature. Flavor was good but would have been better if there were salted fish in it. My wife and I tried to 'fish' for it to no avail. However it did hit the spot and I would order this dish again albeit missing one key ingredient. 8/10. Service was great. The waitress checked up on us a few times and made sure our waters were filled at all times. Bumps our experience to 4 . This place is typically known for their wonton noodle soup so I'll have to try and compare it to their sister restaurant in Hillsboro next time. read more

My god. Literally the best bbq pork in town. You know it's good when the color of it looks naturally dark reddish brown, and has a shiny glaze over it. Unlike the Americanized chop suey restaurants that dye theirs bright red/pink and tastes dry. Sometimes, Just a simple order of the bbq pork and rice is enough for me, and brings back good memories of my days in San Fran. Don't mind the sign outside of the restaurant. It looks like it's falling off! Inside, it is neat and cozy. It's my first time to try a Chinese restaurant here coming from Hawaii so I know a good tasting place when I try it. I have to say, " their food is very delicious!" I ordered the salt and pepper pork chops.. yummy! Crispy and juicy and the garlic taste is to die for! My eyes rolled back in ecstasy because that's how good it tasted! We ordered the chicken with ginger and green onions and I have to tell you it reminded me of home. We ordered the half chicken which is boiled or steamed and the side sauce which is ginger with green onions is super delicious! I'm very impressed. Their house fried rice is tasty and of course we ordered house special chow mein and they are all rated 5 star as far as my taste buds go. I highly recommend this place for some comfort foods indeed. The only downside is that they don't serve roast pork since covid started. I just hope they would have that in the menu in the future. We left with full tummies and pure satisfaction. So there aren't that many Chinese restaurants in Vancouver, and time and time again I am disappointed. However, that is NOT the case for Good Taste Restaurant! Good Taste Restaurant tastes like home! My mom is from Taiwan and my dad is from Hong Kong, so I grew up eating some real good food. Unfortunately, I do not know how to cook this food myself and my family is not local. That is why I am so grateful for Good Taste Restaurant!! It is my go to comfort food destination. It's also very convenient to call for take out and pick it up. The service is always fast and accommodating - whether dining in or ordering to go. I recommend this restaurant to everyone!
