10.Chili Fried Fish-竹塔鱼

Best Chinese food ever!! It was so good we had to get more the next day! The food came out fast and all of the staff are professional and friendly. On top of that, you can't beat the price! Huge portions and great quality. This is the ONLY Chinese spot you need! Pork xiao long bao: perfect dumplings. Still with a little juice inside which is exactly what you want Wonton soup: by far the best wonton soup I've ever had. I usually hate mushrooms but I ate every bit of mushroom in it. The mushrooms were small, and the large pieces were sliced thinly. The wontons were great and the broth was flavorful and comforting Chili fried fish: OUR FAVORITE, MUST HAVE!!! This is so delicious. A little spicy but I just couldn't stop eating it. The fish was juicy and perfectly cooked Ma po tofu: the perfect ma po tofu!!!! Not too spicy either, just has a tiny kick. Loved it. Perfect texture. Garlic pork ribs: very good! Super flavorful. The breading reminds me of popcorn chicken from boba shops Chicken in house hot oil (cold dish): this was too spicy for me but my husband loved it and rates it a 9/10. Can't wait to come back. Seriously everything on the menu looks sooo good!

Wow. The owners are super kind and the food is excellent! My husband and I went here for a date and tried new things. We are trying to find a new dim sum place and this was really fun. My absolute favorite thing was the beef pancakes with no cilantro. Holy cow must try. It taste like a mix of pot roast and barbecue and there is a lot of meat. The pancake is a mix mixed between a burrito and a crêpe. I've also gotten a lot of of their stirfry and those are always very satisfying and good portion sizes. I wish they offered more of a vegetable mixture like bell peppers but everything is always very fresh. We tried their famous soup dumplings, and those were good too! The shopping center is definitely sketchy and I wish there was more security and it would look nicer, but this is one of those hole in the walls!

1.Honey Glazed Walnut Shrimp-

My mom fell in love with this place! -Surprised my Mom with Chinese for dinner since she absolutely loves honey walnut shrimp. The servings were huge, we had to box up our food. I love how they make everything to order and the food comes sizzling hot. We also tried the red bun, 10/10 stars. They're so adorable and big too, for only $3 they are a steal. It's a cute small hole in the wall usually with 1 server so we had to wait a little but overall service was good. Highly recommend but avoid busy dinner times. Would definitely return and try more dishes!

Beef and broccoli

Ordered delivery for Christmas as part of a tradition. Decided to give this place a shot due to the reviews. I ordered as soon as they opened. We got beef and broccoli, orange chicken, vegetable fried rice, beef dumplings, and Dan Dan noodles. I would say the only dishes that even came close to having any real flavor was the vegetable fried rice and beef dumplings. All other dishes were just not good. Bland and weird flavor combos. The orange chicken tasted like soap. Very strange. I'm really disappointed in the quality, especially for the price I paid. I don't understand all the good reviews. There are better options out there.

Hunan fish!

Favorite to eat here? Dried fried eggplant Bokchoy with garlic Hunan fish Amazing!!!! Service is amazing! Jasmine and Theresa are super nice! Authentic Chinese food!

Absolutely delicious dishes, including the chili, fried fish, and the Hunan fish and the string beans. The sesame balls were perfect!

Dry pot cauliflower

The way I didn't even know this restaurant existed until a few weeks ago.. definitely a hidden gem! We ordered the pork xiao long bao, chicken chow mein (not pictured), and the dry pot cauliflower. All of it was yummy but the dry pot cauliflower may be my favorite. Service was very fast and efficient as well. I think this is a pretty good alternative when I'm craving din tai fung. I will be back to try more dishes on their menu!

beef dumpling
Kaelyn R.

We ordered the egg flower soup, spicy wontons, beef dumplings, and the mixed vegetables. The spicy wonton sauce was so addicting. It was sweet, sour, and the wontons were huge. The beef dumplings were also super juicy inside with a meaty filling. Loved the mixed vegetables and the honey walmut shrimp as well. Both entrees come with a side of white rice. We were super satisfied with the portions here, for what you get the price is hard to beat. Will be ordering from them again in the future. We ordered takeout through grubhub. When the food arrived it was still surprisingly very hot.

A fam fave ! We often order and share ! Service is ok . The space is small so we get our food to go. I think most people order take out . Dumplings are the best . I don't love their mandarin chicken but my siblings do. The egg plant dish was also a miss :/

Xiao Long Bao, Beef Soup

Tasty little spot! Very unassuming but once you go inside and see the place full of people, it's clear that Tasty's China has regulars and is a gem to the locals. Servers were super kind and down to earth, and I loved the little animal crossing lofi videos they played on their TV's. Made us feel comfy and welcomed! The food was delicious, especially the chili fried fish. Amazing! Honey walnut shrimp was so yummy, but personally it felt quite heavy/greasy and sweet. Overall everything was delicious but if you're used to eating lighter food, then the dishes here might be a little heavy for you. Would definitely come back every now and then!

Beef pot stickers

We wanted to try the soup dumplings. Found this place in Ventura. Very good food, good service. We had a good time We tried - soup dumplings, beef pot stickers, beef onion pancake, spicy fried chicken, Dan Dan noodle. All good. Worth coming here !

Does Tasty China have a full bar?

No they do not.

Is MSG added to the food here, please?

To my knowledge they do not use MSG. This is a small, family owned spot.

Do you still add MSG do your food?

MSG is good for you! It makes me stronger and gives me so much more energy. Pretty sure it protects again the Covids. I love MSG!

Are there any vegan options here?

Yes! They have a ton of options. The Vegetable Xiao Long Bao (that's right.. vegan dumplings!), all… Read more

When I was a student here, I often frequented Mom Wong's or Tortillas and they're still here which is incredible. Mom Wong's is very student-friendly prices as well. Each dish pictured here was about $10-12 and the portions are huge! Seriously, if I was still a student here I'd be going here every week because I'd have enough food for three days. Now for the quality of the food... each dish was great. The chow mein, which included chicken and shrimp, was awesome. Seasoned nicely and not too greasy. The orange chicken, which looked and tasted a bit more like sweet and sour chicken (not mad about that!), was also very good and retained its crispiness. The fried rice, which is what my wife ordered, was good, kinda soy sauce heavy but it had a nice flavor overall. (Tbh idk why but I've never been a huge fan of fried rice).

Inside the restaurant, the ambiance is casual. I ordered the Juicy pork dumpling($10.99 ) and Milk tea with boba ($4.49). The dumplings were very juicy and a little sweet. That would be nice if they had some ginger slices and black vinegar for the dumplings. About boba tea, it's good. I prefer the tea to be stronger. Boba tea was warm, which means it's fresh, but needed more ice. They always serve in to-go containers. This place is good for friends, couples, and families. Parking is in front of the restaurant.

No biggie - patience is the calm acceptance that things can happen in a different order than the one you had in mind. I had to write a review because I knew one particular person was going to tarnish them because they didn't have that patience. As I suspected, he did. See the other review entry for today. It's definitely him. Let me share with you the chain of events I witnessed that allowed me to connect the dots so I can likely assume was him. With us other patrons waiting so patiently, because again, the manager was sharing with us how they were looking and was super apologetic. One can only tell you 10-15 mins but hey I knew I wasn't the only one there. Except for this guy who believed he was the only patron and should have been waited on hand and foot. He says 45 mins. I call BS. I was there. At the end of it all, he and his party walked out because 10-15 mins in a restaurant with patrons eating in and taking out was "too long." Thank goodness. Plus his attitude to some of the patrons was gross. The cherry on top was he was honking his horn to Mandarin Bistro for some reason as he was driving away. Um ok? In conclusion to that fool, YOU want private dining, stay your ass at home. For the rest of the Yelpers, if you want amazing chinese food while supporting small business in Newbury Park, I highly recommend Mandarin Bistro with utmost enthusiasm!

I like the house special braised pork belly which is a caramelized and salty meat in a pot. Delicious with copious amounts of white rice. Some of my favorite items to get at this place are: -Stir fried intestines - these are cooked with spices and numbing pepper. The intestines taste like they were deep fried and have a crunch to them. -Mushroom medley - 3 different types of mushrooms in a brown sauce and some type of white meat. -Beef rolls - sliced beef inside a flaky savory pancake with hoisin sauce and cilantro This is a great spot for Hunan-style dishes that have the complex smoky, spicy, and numbing spice flavors. I'd go for those dishes over more traditional fried rice, beef and broccoli type Chinese food.

Broccoli Shrimp ($19): The broccoli was perfectly steamed, but the shrimp were a letdown Instead of the expected jumbo/large size, they were small (51-60 count) and lacked flavor Also, the peas and carrots felt out of place in this dish Spring Rolls: Crispy and worth the price! (Note: They were served with ketchup?, so have your own chili crisp ready) Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables (The Star!): Absolutely delicious Perfectly textured pork with just the right amount of fat-not too heavy or falling apart Even with the overcooked vegetables, this is a "must-order" again The Verdict: Good flavors on the traditional dishes; just wish the shrimp size matched the price point!

First thing I noticed is this place is simple yet has a quality about it. I would bring a date here, rather maybe a second or third date. It's nice inside. Wait staff was amazing. Now to the good stuff! I ordered chicken chow fun and partner had Mushu pork and for the appetizer we ordered the paper wrapped chicken. The chicken hit the table first wrapped in tin foil. That didn't deter us at all. This was served with duck sauce and spicy mustard. The mustard was amazing but i love spice! Both were good but the mustard opened up my nasal passages and made me go wow!! Awesome! The two main dishes hit the table and we dug in. Both were great! I will tell you this; if you like fast Chinese food like Panda Express and that is what you think of Chinese food then stay there. Here you'll get properly seasoned fair. The dinner combos are a great deal and all the side dishes were great - the egg roll was crispy and fresh, the shrimp was delicious, and the fried rice was well-seasoned, fluffy, and moist. The entrees were truly the star of the show. We got Ma Po tofu (traditional style) and dry wok veggie-chicken. The tofu was soft and creamy and the Ma Po sauce provided the sichuan numbing we've been searching for in Southern California. The dry wok was deeply flavorful. The veggie chicken was moist and savory and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. the ambiance - China kitchen was well decorated and elegant. The traditional artwork and attention to detail, down to the light fixtures made this a dining EXPERIENCE, not just a simple meal. The service-- Our waitress Ms. Vivian was warm, welcoming, and had a great personality! She frequently checked in on us and made us feel right at home. It was Ms Vivian's delightful personality that sealed the deal -- we will be coming back to China Kitchen soon. Thank you for a great dining experience!
