Saw the good reviews so we gave it a shot. The service was outstanding and portion size was very generous, however 2 of the 3 entrees lacked depth and were mediocre at best. Let's start with the star of the dinner, Moo Shoo vegetable - excellent, super flavorable, extremely well done. Next were the green beans - they were fried nicely however served with an odd sweet sauce which I have never seen in any Asian restaurant - without the sauce and some chili oil they would have been quite nice. Lastly the Ma Po tofu - very generous portion but again just really lacked depth and flavor, was super bland and missed the traditional fermented black bean sauce the dish is typically made with. We will go again, experiment with the menu and hope for more winners. read more

Hands down the best Chinese restaurant catering to American palates. The quality of the food -- the meat and vegetables -- is amazing and hard to find. The owners did change but the quality hasn't changed. Albeit a few recipes have changed a little -- the Salt & Pepper Shrimp is now breaded and WAY too salty, please go back to the way it was...lightly breaded. Lo mein has a nice charred flavor. The Ginger Garlic Triple Delight was tasty and the veggies were crisp. Also like that the crab rangoons use a wonton wrapper and are light and airy. I love their fried rice and crab rangoon. The place itself is very flexible and allows substitutions and changes to menu items which is just lovely. That being said, their breaded chicken is soggy and soaked in sauce. It's not crispy or crunch like some other places. Some people really love that, but if you are a crispy chicken person you won't enjoy it. Stick to their stir fried dishes or sauce-free breaded chicken. They are worth visiting! read more

The shrimp were huge, vegetables were fresh, and the sauce was the perfect blend of ginger and garlic. The meal came with the choice of an egg roll or 2 crab rangoons. Authentic Chinese food! I used to live in San Francisco and been in New York City for nearly 20 years and this is better than most so-called "authentic" Chinese restaurants. Who would guess there is this oasis where you enjoy real Chinese food in Dundee, MI and where you can go to Cabela's and see dead, stuffed animals? The food here kicks ass and is not too salty. Ate here once with a friend from church and wasn't impressed maybe I ordered the wrong thing. So incidental I can't remember. But this time I went by myself and ordered the shrimp in lobster sauce and it was excellent. I've had the best lobster sauce actually a lobster Cantonese at a restaurant in Middletown Rhode Island and it was incredible with ground pork. These guys have the same thing a little better. With the tenderest shrimp and slices of pork in a wonderful wonderful black bean sauce and served over plain fried rice it was absolutely delectable. My new go-to for Chinese food and I'm coming in from Monroe. Bad thing is I tend to order the same thing if I really love it so I might not try anything else. The business front is modestly in a strip plaza. Don't let that turn you off. The interior is well kept and clean. This is no buffet/trough place! Our waitress was gracious and attentive. Yelp comes through again! Dundee is a tourist trap town, between the Cabellas and the waterpark, the consumer can get put on the hook and taken to the cleaners. Fortunately this place is close by and just wonderful. The room is simple but inviting. The hosts are very pleasant and make you feel welcome. The food is marvelous. I ordered a chicken Lo main, and was very impressed by the taste and generous size. It's enough to feed two people, or one hungry me! Will be glad to come back if given the chance! read more

I went there today amid of all of the covid19 issues. I'm not a big fan of eating out right now but I will periodically. I have to say that I was immediately impressed by their safety precautions. The lady that waited on me in the front had a mask and gloves on. She sanitized her counter and credit card machine after she used my debit card. For context I am an Asian Food snob and I have lived in NYC, LA, Detroit, and Washington. I have traveled to most of America's China Towns. This restaurant is among the TOP Three Chinese restaurants of the 149 I have eaten at in my 49 years of life. The sense of pride shows in this small restaurant located in a strip center. The ingredients were fresh and the sauces were all made. This may seem strange to say but most Asian restaurants utilize jarred sauces. Not here, you can taste the ginger and spices and the care put into the creation. And in top of that in Dundee Michigan. Blows my mind. Big portions and amazing value. read more

My husband and I were told by a neighbor that this Chinese food was the best in the area. Unfortunately, we were not waited on in a timely manner, so we left. We go to Dundee often to Cabela's and were looking forward to finding a regular restaurant to frequent in the area. After sitting for quite a while, a large family of 6 came in, were seated and served before us. Frustrated, hungry and a bit perturbed, we left. Heading to Toledo on business, I pre-Yelped a search of something to eat about halfway between where I was and my destination and figured Dundee was going to be the right lunch time for me-- i decided to skip the Applebees (too boring) and the lone star steakhouse (too pricey for lunch), and decided on the well-reviewed Chinese Sizzling restaurant. The odd name did not detract from the well-kept dining room, which is decently sized for an Americanized Chinese take-out restaurant. Of course, I enjoy both authentic and Americanized Chinese take-out on a regular basis, but I did not have the highest expectations for Chinese Sizzling. I was absolutely shocked at how good it was! The egg drop soup was a well-balanced rich broth which warmed the soul and the fried wonton skins as crackers added a nice saltiness (usually for egg drop, it's the other way around- too salty). Their luncheon menu had all the staple lunch combos but I was intrigued that they offered beef chow fun (stir fried beef with wide noodles in brown sauce) at only a couple dollars less than their dinner version, so I went with that. Although it did not include the crab rangoon or egg roll, it's not a deal breaker for me. The beef chow fun was absolutely the best one I've had that wasn't at an authentic Cantonese Chinese restaurant. First of all there was copious amounts of the stir fried beef (most likely round steak)... normally at lunch, restaurants skimp on the proteins to save for the dinner prices, but every bite had a piece of luscious salty goodness. The noodles had an excellent chewy but soft texture and the onions, scallions, and bean sprouts added veggie crunchiness to offset the luxurious brown sauce. I probably could have saved half for dinner, but it was just that good, I ate it all. Overall, if this place was not in Dundee, it would be 5 star all the way and I would probably be here once a week at least, just to see if the other items stacked up to this awesome beef chow fun experience. I guess I will have to make more business trips to Toledo just to stop here and see if the other dishes are made as well as this one was. If you live near here, or are at the nearby Cabelas or waterpark, try this place out for sure! And get the beef chow fun, if you like beef, noodles, and soy sauce! read more
