Awful food, even worse people. Incredibly rude to customers! It was the absolute worst customer experience I have ever had in a restaurant, take-out or otherwise, by far! The guy "tag-teamed" his wife to come out of the kitchen and bicker with me, right in front of multiple other customers, when I "dared" to speak up about their tone and attitude, then repeatedly pointed to a sign on the wall that said "we match your energy" (AKA: "we reserve the right to be total a****les for any and all perceived slights, real or imagined") when I had the "audacity" to complain about how they spoke to me and my dad on the phone and in-person. They were furious that my elderly dad was "taking too long" to place his order for four people (he was not, at all) and acting like it's somehow our fault that they only have a single phone line. Give me a break (take-out only establishment, by the way). They then proceeded to promptly cancel my dad's order and shoo me out, all the while cussing at me in Mandarin, at which point I walked out of there (for the last time). You would do well to AVOID this place at all costs, trust. Not to mention, I've had their food more than a few times before, and it is not even NEARLY good enough to justify them being this nasty towards their patrons. Their offerings are the very definition of "sodium-infused slop" and "mediocre at best" and they act like we are lucky to be allowed to purchase them. What a joke! Do yourself a HUGE favor (like I did) and pay a little extra for a place with WAY better people and service, and MILES better quality food, places such as Shangri-La (amazing!), for example. Oh Szechuan Gourmet, I've got it bad for you. Your food is so good-tasty and fresh, never greasy or soggy. So fast. So flavorful. Love the husband and wife duo that run this place. BUUT why are you closed every time I'm craving Chinese? I get it. Everyone deserves time off. You're a small family business. Work-life balance, as they say! But I want my (huge, perfectly crisp, bursting with deliciousness) egg rolls dammit! I've even got my parents who live in Arizona hooked on you like a drug. Only to be disappointed whenever they are in town-sure enough you are closed! It's becoming a running joke in my family. I'll call and get a busy signal on your single phone line as many times as it takes (11, to be exact tonight). Today, I hit rock bottom and ended up getting the most awful/greasy/disappointing almond boneless chicken and salty weird wonton soup from another establishment, like an addict who needs her fix). It's the first night of Hanukkah and last weekend before Christmas, so I'm not surprised at all that they were busy. But they were fast, friendly, and professional. They're not wasting anyone's time. They've got work to do! Ordered 3 dinner combos for a family of four and we ate half. Great portions! Everything was delicious and flavorful. They have mastered the strategic way of bagging to-go items. The sauces for the lemon chicken and shrimp egg foo young were in a typical "Chinese carryout" container, and then each placed in a plastic bag to protect from spillage. They used cardboard in between styrofoam containers. Well done! Definitely our go-to spot in Bloomfield. Nothing else locally compares. read more

I brought home a couple carry-out items. My wife looked at the menu with the prices listed. It seemed we were way-over charged. She called them to ask for clarification because the receipt was not itemized, nor did it indicate a separate credit-card charge. The guy that answered was parroting whatever he was being told to say by someone (wife?) in the background. The minute my wife started asking about the prices, which were much higher than what was on the menu, he did not let her ask a single additional question. He and the background person, together, were extremely rude, accusing my wife of "not listening" when, in fact, he was the one that did not let us say a single additional word. He had the audacity hang up on his "customer." NEVER AGAIN will we go back to this completely unprofessional business. It's too bad because their food was always good. read more

Thanks to one fellow Yelper I put this place in my collection of places to try and recently I was craving Chinese food so decided to try it out. Placed order online, the lady on the phone wasn't super friendly but the guy I spoke later and gave me my food was very nice. They are currently open for takeout only, you need to tell them what kind of car you are going to be coming in to pickup food and they will meet you at the door if you still have to pay or they will bring it to your car. You can't enter inside the place. We got cashew fried tofu with brown rice, general tso's chicken combination and vegetable dumplings. The portions were huge! We have 3 meals out of it (we had dinner version). Vegetable dumplings were delicious but a little pricey. They use soft tofu which I'm not used to but it was very good too. They put roasted cashews in a separate container so they couldn't get soggy. General Tso's chicken came with fried rice and egg roll which was bigger than normally but very good too. Everything was very good and not overly salty. We will definitely be ordering more from them. read more

I stopped by for a quick lunch since it's by my office and I'm so glad I did! The guy at the counter was very friendly and the food was ready within 20 minutes. I opted for the donuts, deep fried wontons, and house combo A (Szechuan chicken, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and an egg roll). The food was fresh and hits the spot for American Chinese food. I liked that the Szechuan chicken was actually spicy yet still flavorful. They also have my favorite type of sweet and sour sauce (the one with red pepper flakes) so I will definitely be back for that! The people who work there are very nice and you can tell they insist on making it correctly. They take your order and call you when to come pick it up. The steak and cheese egg rolls here are magical! They are a must-order food every time we come here. They are sold with fries and are unbelievably delicious. Every time we order from this restaurant I am afraid I am going to be disappointed, but to my dismay, they amaze me every time! They offer unique food and classic dishes. The Singapore noodles are amazing. We got them with beef. The meat was tender and the curry offered a spicy zing. The rib appetizer makes a wonderful saucy meal. The Kung Pao chicken was not what we expected, but to our delight, it was delicious. The chicken was tender, and the sauce mixed very well with the rice. The rangoons are crispy and well filled. The portions are large and can feed a family with only a few items. I also love the pan fried noodles and lo mein noodles. You cannot go wrong with any noodle dishes here. If you are lucky, you will come on a day when they have made their famous ice cream. The green tea is good. The ube is amazing! A must try if it is available. The bao is also very good, a nice steamed sweet bun filled with flavorful pork. Looking at the menu, I would love to try to donuts, but we are usually stuffed from their hearty dinners. But I look forward to buying them next time. They pack the food up nicely! Right now, they are doing curb side delivery. We have sent quite a few people here, and they were not disappointed. Really solid Chinese food for Michigan. I moved from Boston and Philly where the Chinese food is excellent. I don't get "Americanized" Chinese food a lot but sometimes you just have the cravings for it. Whether it be pepper steak or almond chicken. I know it's new owners now? Super surprised that they recognized me and TOTALLY remembered how little kid on Christmas excited I was about the wings. I stood staring at the menu for a few minutes - realistically I couldn't order 10 entrees but making this important decision was just too much for my travel exhausted brain. I just asked her to surprise me. What did I end up getting? A bomb beef stir fry with ONLY my favorite veggies (carrots, broc, onions, mushrooms, bok choy, green beans), wings (with a side of curry sauce), house fried rice.
