When they say fried rice you may ge the impression at this price they mean fried rice that isn't the food of a N. Korean peasant, but there is no egg or vegetable except the 3 peas I found in it prompting it to go in the trash and on with a burger at sonic. They mean they cook rice in bullion anns wok it a minute with a douse of oil. read more

Me and my wife went here all the time when stationed near by. By far the best Chinese food in Alamo and I'm looking through some of the reviews before me and gotta say I've seen this lady deal with some of the most rude people but when given common respect has the sweetest smile and gives the best portions and service around if you find yourself in the area try the spicy chicken do yourself the favor and don't be rude. read more

Always fresh and very generous servings I always love getting food from this place. The food is always fresh and the serving sizes are so great. I have literally bought a two entree plate that had enough food to feed me, my husband, and still had some rice or noodles left over. Lot of food for affordable price especially since I don't ever finish a box in one sitting. I paid a total of $12.95 for the whole meal (I didn't buy egg rolls or drinks with the boxes). Mall food, but surprisingly good. I come here two or three times a month. Options usually include noodles, rice, bourbon chicken, orange chicken, sweet & sour chicken, beef & broccoli, coconut shrimp, and various combination of spicy pork and spicy chicken. I don't eat spicy foods so I don't know if those are good or not. Bourbon chicken and the shrimp are my favorite entrees. Both boxes had "orange chicken" and "sweet & sour chicken." One box was just lo mein noodles and the other box I was able to do a 50/50 mix of rice and vegetable phun noodles. Lot of flavor in all of the food. Orange chicken was particularly delicious. Bourbon chicken is usually a good option. Sometimes they run out of an entree or more than one and this actually happened today (pretty much always busy 5:00 - 6:00), but they don't take long to refill. For the closures and whatnot nowadays worst time to go is between 5:15 and 5:45. Oddly specific time but for whatever reason this tends to be the busiest from what I've seen. After 6:00 is usually a short wait, between 1:00 and 4:00 I pretty much never wait in line, and lunch times can be extremely hectic. Not sure about other times of the day. Chinex is closed either Sunday or Monday despite what google says but I can't go those days anyways so I have no idea. Otherwise, it's subject to mall times. read more

Chinese Express (Chinex for short) is a basic Chinese takeaway. It offers 8 entrees, egg rolls, and steamed or fried rice. The bourbon chicken is especially good and is not breaded. The breaded items are very lightly breaded and not soaked in sauce; the sesame chicken is a good choice. Seating is available as part of the food court area in front of the restaurant. Overall Smiley's Cafe, a few doors down the mall, is the better choice, with a much wider variety of items, and it is an all-you-can-eat buffet. Chinex is about a dollar cheaper for a meal, and although it has a limited selection, there are several items not found at Smiley's. read more

We love chinex its inexpensive good food you get a box full of food that won't leave you wanting more I can never eat all of it they are not greedy with the servings they give. When fresh the food is unbelievably good. When old, very very bad and disappointing. I'd recommend only going when what you are ordering is out, so they have to prepare it for you, or choose another buffet in town. Additionally please know that the bourbon chicken of old is no longer what it used to be. It once was a dish of delicious grilled/seared chicken thighs, swimming in a pool of bourbon sauce. Now you get deep fried chicken thigh pieces that are dry and tasteless. NOT what they used to be at all. read more

Food is amazing when fresh service is short and barely a smile from the owner depending on what day you catch her. They list cheese wontons and they are amazing I order them every single time I get food and alwaus alwaus but maybe twice since the begining of 2017 have I been successful in getting any. The lady rolls her eyes and puffs off and comes back say no no we no have any for you and just stares at me like what you going to do. Just mean as shit. If you never have them take them off your menu unless its just me you choose to tell no because when the man is up front he makes them for me. Wth.
