Such a delightful surprise. As I walked in, the place was simple decorated, clean. I was seated immediately, the server was a young man, well mannered and friendly. The menu was easy to navigate. I ordered the pad Thai with tofu. It was delicate and scrumptious, perfect amount of heat and sauce. I enjoyed every bite of it. I also ordered spring rolls, which were served piping hot. I was stuck in Alamogordo for a month. I tried numerous places from Mexican to burgers to the winery. This semi sketchy looking place is my favorite restaurant in Alamogordo, nothing comes close for food and options. My coworker and I ate there four days a week and ate almost everything on the menu. This place is 100% family run with the mother and grandmother, cooking and younger siblings, waiting tables. The Pho is fantastic, the curries are fantastic, and the wait staff was awesome. I live in New York and eat this type of food all the time, it is possibly my favorite type of food. If this place was in my city, I would still eat there every week. I have been back to Alamogordo twice and find myself going back here like it's home. Like I said, doesn't look like much inside or outside, but the food is fantastic!!!! read more

I have never been to Bangkok Tokyo restaurant. A gentleman that was stuck here for 30 days in Almagordo ain't there & put it on Facebook and highly recommended it and I can see why . I highly recommend it as well. I've been living here for 20 years and I had never stopped at this restaurant. My waiter was outstanding with the service. The food was simply delicious. I highly recommend this place!!! if you haven't eaten there I highly suggest that you try it. I went for dinner. It was spectacular. They have lunch specials as well. the fried rice is spectacular. My wife and I, with our three kids (5yo, 2yo, and 5mo) traveled to Alamogordo on a Wednesday evening during Spring Break on our way back to Texas from Colorado. There were two or three other tables filled when we arrived. We were greeted and seated quickly. The restaurant was dated but pretty clean. The kids were starving, so we ordered the tempura shrimp. This came out first (and quickly). The shrimp were great, the sauce was a bit oil heavy. I ordered the pad kraw prow with beef (spice level 3 out of 10). Wife ordered pad see ew with chicken (spice level 3 out of 10). We both ordered a more mild spice level that we would normally so that we could share with the kids. Both dishes were far more spicy than we expected...not too spicy for us, but both of our older kids indicated it was too spicy for them. The pad kraw prow had a MUCH thicker sauce than I am used to. It wasn't bad, just different. The pad see ew that my wife is used to eating has broccoli and carrots; however, this version had green bell pepper instead of carrots. Again, not terrible, just different. The appetizer ($7+), two dinner dishes ($16+ each), and an extra bowl of rice (which we didn't get charged for ) plus a generous tip was $49.74 (we drank water) Thai food is one of our favorites...this didn't quite make it for us. Ordered take out while visiting in town at the National park. I ordered the veggie pad Thai, delicious. The sauce was different than I expected, but still good. Thai tea was overly sweet. My partner ordered the chicken and steak hibachi dinner and it was good. Included a choice of soup, he selected egg drop. All in all good food. Don't waste your money here. First of all the sign outside says it's a Chinese restaurant and there's no hot and sour soup, just the nasty Thai version of hot and sour soup. I don't like that type because it tastes like vinegar and tofu. Take the Chinese off the sign if you're not going to serve Chinese food. The yakitori? the chicken was questionable. It looked barely cooked. I didn't like it. I also didn't like the egg rolls. I told them I didn't like the food I took one bite of each food and they charged me full price anyway. The restaurant was clean I can't complain about that and the server was really nice. They should turn this into a Chinese restaurant or put more Chinese menu items on. Heard about this place and read its reviews. Most were negative but I was never one to take others word for it. First if all, I usually love what others don't like and I wont ever trust someone else's palette to determine what is delicious to me. My family and i came in twice during the same week, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both service times we were treated to respectful staff, great food (we ordered several appetizers, combo dishes and pho). The kitchen even made a special dish for me that wasn't on their menu. If you like Thai curry, this is the spot for you. We tried it because the reviews are pretty good and I couldn't agree more. The green curry is rich and creamy with just enough spice to satisfy your need for heat without overpowering the dish. The yellow curry is sweet and my husband thinks it's some of the best Thai curry he's had this side of the pacific. The place is an absolute hole, but don't let that fool you. Hole-in-the-walls are often deceptively rewarding and much easier to exceed expectations. this place absolutely fits that bill. We also ordered fries for the kids (because, kids) and they were ridiculously delicious too. Nothing special, just perfectly salted, hot and crispy crinkle cut fries. Everything we had was so delicious and satisfying, we will definitely be recommending it to our foodie friends passing through, and we'll be coming back whenever we're in town. my first experience with BANGKOK TOKYO was last month, September 2022, when overnighting at the adjacent White Sands Motel. All I wanted then, as well as the more recent 14OCT2022 (this time I was at the Classic Inn Mote) was to enjoy a great (tofu) vegetarian meal while relaxing in front of the television. During my first experience at this fine eatery, I initially was going to "eat in" but realized that exhaustion from cycling several hours earlier might leave me dragging even worse from the restauran, so I changed it "to go". I was not disappointed, and resolved to return here for my evening meal "to go" whenever I returned, which I did 14OCT2022. The service was excellent and fast. I noticed several other customers were getting even faster service because they had called ahead. in both cases, the meals are freshly prepared-- nothing was kept under hot lamps or in heated trays. I was fairly dehydrated, and took advantage of a carafe of iced water that had been cleared from a table. It was just as deliciously hydrating as if ordered just for me! I love this place! Especially since there spice level goes all the way up to 10! I typically get the Pad Khee Mao and get it at the hottest. Highly recommend it, but don't get it at the hottest if you don't like spicy food. Sushi is pretty good! The ambience is a little nicer than Asian Garden. I remember thinking Asian Garden was more laid back (as I watched a young lady take off her shoes and put her feet on the booth). Bangkok Tokyo is nicely decorated. Food is delicious, and the prices are decent. The portion sizes are big so share, share, share! Last time we went we ordered a bunch of sushi rolls and 1 order of Pad Knee Mao and shared everything. While this place may be lacking in ambiance, it has a certain dive vibe we dug. The service was great, they even made substitutions for me with my pho. We do however wish they had offered my husband a spice level choice with his curry as it was way too spicy for his liking. Talk about on point and unexpected surprises. This place has the best pad Thai that I've ever had before. Could compare to the pad Thai that I had in Bangkok couple of years again. Their spice level is not a joke. I had level 7 and it was on fire, so good! The Tom yum soup was huge, it was so tasty. The fried rice was so delicious that it made the best leftover ever! I had a chance to come back to town the second time for work and introduced my coworker to the pad see ew and she was in love with it. I'd recommend this place to anyone who pass through town. Finding good food in this state seems to be quite the task & with a name like Bangkok Tokyo I was hesitant to try but this place was the best out of all the options so we came in. The place looked dead, no one else was in but when you're hungry... whatever. So glad we came in! The food was fast obviously since we were the only ones for the first 20 minutes because then it filled up quickly. The food was delicious! Flavorful & with the right amount of heat. It was by far the best dishes we had in New Mexico. The noodles were amazing & the humble fried rice had us wanting more. The kid that waited on us was very polite and attentive but I felt a little bad for him because he was the only person waiting on all of the tables and he was obviously very hot but kept a smile on his face. Bangkok and Tokyo are two very different places with very different cuisines and in an area with very little Asian food, my friends and I were pretty skeptical about this place. However, after a long day of hiking at White Sands, we were all craving a nice bowl of pho and this restaurant was the only place in the area that had pho. Pho usually comes out pretty fast- but this place took a hot minute before the food came out. But it's okay!! It was definitely worth the wait!! The pho was pho-nomenal. The broth was so flavorful. I usually never finish the broth in noodle soups, but we drank every last bit of that broth. My friends got a pineapple fried rice to try as well and they really enjoyed that too. Was very confused when we first saw the businesses name but was extremely surprised at how good the food is here! Coming from a Vietnamese family born and raised, the beef pho tasted pretty authentic. The only thing I wished for was that garlic was left out of the broth, and then it would've been perfect. I also had the chicken pad thai. Best pad thai you will get here in Alamogordo hands down. The pad thai is a bit pricey IMO, its about $18 and some change for a plate. Tried pad thai at the food truck and thai cuisine, and no to disrespect their business but Bangkok Tokyo definitely has the best pad thai if that's what you're looking for. To begin its hard to find a decent restaurant in Alamogordo that is Asian food. My usual place Bamboo Garden was closed so we decided to check out Bangkok Tokyo and it was FABULOUS! David our waiter was polite, attentive to me and my mom and the other guests. He refilled our drinks w/o us waiting forever to even ask, he got our orders correct w/o writing anything down. Our food was super delicious! I had the Sweet n Sour stir fry and my mom had the Ginger plate. Our Egg Drop soup was 3.99 and HUGE!!!!
