Today- we enjoyed a nice dinner date and good experience. The staff were great and attentive. Food- we ordered 2 combos with Dr Pepper, which did not go empty. There was so much food with the daily special including 4 entrees- kung bao chicken (delicious), orange chicken (tasty), Mongolian beef (savory) and jalapeño chicken (good) with yummy friend rice and OK lo mein. Good food, very laid back. Great service. The chicken with garlic sauce was really spicy and really good. The beef with broccoli was good as well. Got the #2 combo that includes a good egg roll. Also ordered crab rangoon. Thin wonton, crunchy and good. You get a lot if extra sauce and hot mustard. Sorry no dinner food pictures but food was piled on the plate with rice. Good portions. Excellent food. I had the Egg Foo Yun, not since I lived in Oregon have I had such excellent Chinese Food. Our waitress was lovely and friendly! I loved the typical Chinese deco. Ambiance is good. Just had lunch with friends at Wok 'n World. It is always enjoyable to eat there; the staff is so friendly. Everyone liked what they ordered and got more to take home. Actually, we all ended up with at least two extra meals since they are generous with their food so we had leftovers to take away. I had the combo with lemon chicken for the entrée. One friend got the same with orange chicken. The second friend got sweet-and-sour soup along with lettuce wraps. One friend always orders a second meal to take home but this time we all did. Note, the lettuce wraps are not on their printed menu but they are on the website menu. There could be other items that are only on the online menu so check it out. It´s not the greatest Chinese food, but it´s good, and I´d say the best in LC. Some people hate it and love Golden Star or Chinese Gourmet in the mall (which is disgusting). I worry about this place because of their extensive menu... which includes pizza and pasta... But whether or not you get decent food, I guess, depends on what you get. I usually get Sweet and Sour Pork, Fried Rice, Vegetable Chow Mein, and Hot and Sour Soup. The SnS is very good, the FR is good to ok, the Chow Mein is ok, and the HnS Soup is very good. We decided to try this place on a whim a couple of days ago. We were very pleasantly surprised. As both my husband and myself were looking for gluten free vegan there are not really a whole lot of options here in Las Cruces. I checked the menu online before we went and saw they do have a dedicated GF menu AND a dedicated vegan/vegetarian menu. Atmosphere is dated and could use a refresh, but I'm not holding that against them since they are getting 5 stars from us across the board in every other category, which are the ones that really count. Not only were there plenty of options for us to choose from despite our narrow dietary restrictions, the staff was extremely accommodating in presenting options and making suggestions to us once they understood our restrictions. It was lunchtime and we each ordered a combo plate with rice noodles and we got an order of fried rice to share with that. The portions were very generous, and the food was delicious! Service was friendly and fast. We enjoyed it so much that when the owner came over to check on us and we were chatting with him, we placed an additional entire take-out order based on his recommendations and the recommendations of our server. This was great as I needed a break from cooking this week and I saw an opportunity. We had some of our take-out yesterday and again we were not disappointed. We were so pleased to have discovered a place that we can eat within our dietary restrictions and really enjoy the food. My favorite was the black bean tofu, but also I very much enjoyed the orange tofu, the tofu broccoli, the mixed sauteed vegetables and the veggie lo mein. The owner is also recommending the curried tofu to us but we have not tried it yet, although we plan to. Overall, I am very happy to be able to give this restaurant my stamp of approval. I wanna preface this review with a couple of facts, Both my wife and I served several years in the food industry, So we try to be really lenient with staff/food etc... because we understand food industry is tough. But I went here with the wife on a recommendation from one of her co workers. After the trip I came here to warn others of my experience, and if you want a better restaurant, Golden Star is a much better pick in town. The one positive I've got is the crab Rangoon was really good, but from here out not so much. I had initially arrived before my wife to place the order, it felt like the waitress was actively ignoring me, up until my wife sat down, despite me asking to place the order early to have it ready for her lunch break. The tap water arrived and I wouldn't have taken more then a mouthful, it tasted almost stale and neither me nor my wife even began to drink our glasses. Luckily they had tea instead. So we placed our order. It arrived quick enough. But thats when the problems started. I had ordered a combo with Chicken chop suey, lo mein, and some sweet and sour pork. First, the entire dish was covered in shitake mushrooms. Nowhere on the menu did it indicate this info. The mushrooms had even been mixed in with the lo mein chop suey and even on the pork. The dish completely inedible to me, I was willing though to just send it back and sit while my wife finished hers. I had set the plate on the edge of the table to indicate to the waitress I wasn't super happy, but then she proceeded to chat up some of her "Regulars" (I imagine based totally on how long she talked with them all while waving me off). I kept trying to get her attention when the gal cleaning up the tables had to get our waitress for me. I proceeded to let her know the mushrooms just were making it taste awful and I didn't want any of it. She then says "You should have asked what was in it if you didn't like mushrooms". Which then I proceeded to ask "Why is this info not on the menu?" Most other restaurants include this info, as to help with you know... allergies, foods people to don't like. She says "Oh they give me a bunch of cards that tells me whats in everything, you should've asked." My wife at this point has kinda reached her limit at this point, and just asks for the check. Because we were still planning covering the cost of the eaten food. We brought back the ticket and the whole meal was charged out, even though I didn't eat any of mine because it was awful. We let the (I'm gonna assume) Manager on duty know, but she gave a very similar "You shoulda asked" like the waitress. Well at this point if you've read this review, if you're asking me, Avoid this place like the plague. I RARELY post reviews and only when I feel especially screwed over by a store/business will I post. But in this instance, if I can save 1 person a bad meal, go find another restaurant. I think it's important as so many restaurants in Las Cruces are suffering during the Covid-19 quarantine to remind you of what's open and which little mom and pop gems need your support. Wok n World is one of those places. Plus THEY DELIVER. Honestly, my favorite thing about this place is the hot and sour soup. It's spot on 99.9% of the time. Steamed dumplings are a close second. I liked their steamed better than their fried. Check out their special meals that come with an egg roll and soup. It's not authentic Chinese food, it's been Americanized a bit. I have been looking for some good Chinese here in Las Cruces. We tried this for dinner. The staff was awesome and the restaurant was nice and clean. I hate to say I was not impressed with the food. I really wanted to enjoy it but I can honestly say we did not. The sesame chicken was almost all breading and the sauce had no spice to it and not great flavor. We have been coming here for 6 years. Spotty service with takeout. Today we ordered two #3 combos; first was Chicken Szechuan with hot vegetable delight. Second was also #3 combo with moo goo gai pan and sautéed mixed vegetables. There was no discernable Chicken Szechuan. It was almost all rice. The moo goo gai pan, if it indeed was there, may have been a dab buried under the lo mein. I'm attaching pictures we sent. The owner said our order was as requested. Do not do carry out. It is definitely sub par with what you get when you eat in and not as pictured. After 6 years as a loyal customer we will NOT be back. So sad. read more

The sauce wasnt sweet much but I guess thats good because its less fattening. A lot of veggies came with it. I ordered beef and broccoli with lo mein and an egg roll. The sauce the beef was in tasted like beef gravy from a jar. The noodles were linguine pasta that tasted like flour. Soy sauce didn't help at all. I don't know what was in the egg roll. The only plus was the server, which was very sweet and efficient. I've heard mixed reviews about this place and will always choose locally owned, but today, I should have gone one business over and gotten a better meal at Sonic. read more

From what I was told, Wok'n World was the go to for Chinese food. My husband and I decided to try it out. The sesame chicken was a ball of breading with small pieces of chicken in it. The chicken that was in the breading was overcooked and dry. When I said something to the owner, he dismissed my concerns. That was the first and the last time we went to this restaurant. Do yourself a favor and go to Panda Express, or get your Chinese food from the freezer section of the grocery store. Both choices are better. read more

I want to start off by saying I really hate giving a bad review. The food here is subpar at best. I don't know if they were having an off night or maybe they have a new chef in back but the only good part of my meal was the fortune cookie that they did not make. The chow fen tasted like literal garbage that was sitting out in a New York alley for a week. The spicy butter squid tasted off and FYI it's not an entree, it's an expensive appetizer with zero seasoning. While I did like the thinness of the egg roll wrapper, they tasted like they were previously frozen and maybe went bad at one point. The egg drop soup had a surprising addition of some cabbage that I did like but there was so much cornstarch added to it it turned out to be a globby mess. Again, they may have been just having an off night by the number of great reviews they have.... Or maybe Las Cruces should stick to Tex Mex and not try to do Chinese. read more

Was going to give this place one star but the staff over there somehow saved the overall experience. One of the worst Chinese food I've had in my life, and I DO NOT recommend anyone to go there at all. The lo-mein these tastes like days-old with expired cooking oil. So okay, they have great food but you gotta get a little crazy! This is not China Buffet America- this is "We actually use spices and make fresh food. I got Buddha Jumps the Wall one night - it was slow cooked and falling off the bone tender beef with napa cabbage and green onion. Another night, we got the garlic squid dish cooked with jalapeños and over fresh green cabbage. It was dynamic. The Cantonese duck is spectacular. They have pork buns! Spring rolls and sesame balls! Stopped in at Wok n World as the pandemic is on the wane. I found the place fairly comfortable as before and the service was fine. The reason for my downgrade is the food....not good! I ordered the Hunan Beef and the Moo Goo Gai Pan with lo mein and an egg roll. The egg roll was ok. Actually it was the best part of the meal. The sweet n sour sauce I used with it was runny and almost tasteless. The lo mein was mediocre. The addition of soy sauce at the table made it palatable. Despite a szechuan chile pepper found in the Hunan Beef the entire meal had no heat...no kick. The chicken was diced so finely that it was hard to tell if the Moo Goo Gai Pan had any chicken in it at all. It actually did. The whole meal was smothered in a tasteless chicken gravy that appeared made from a gravy packet from a cheap grocery. Consequently, the only flavor present was the overwhelming pasty flavorless gravy. This was a poor excuse for a Chinese meal. The Hunan Beef was much the same. It too was swimming in a bad tasting beef gravy that came right from a can or gravy packet. The entire meal was a goopy mess. While the broccoli was firm you could not taste anything but the canned gravy. Really poor. There was little beef in this meal. I finished this meal with great disappointment. Describing this food as Chinese is to do great discredit to Chinese cuisine. I will not return. What to expect if you go: A fairly comfortable and clean place with fairly good and pleasant service, reasonable prices, a huge menu, but food that is, plainly speaking, not good. If this is your introduction to Chinese cuisine you may never want to have any more. I give the total dining experience two-and-a-half stars but the food itself a two star rating meaning well below average. But, if you want food swimming in a tasteless packet or canned gravy you can have it here. read more

Had delivery, and it was fast! Small order for one, kinda pricey but oh so worth it. Love the portion sizes, which explains the price. I have enough for at least 2 full meals. Delivery person was such a nice guy! Food was hot, and filled the containers to the brim, almost bursting. And tasty! Reading the other reviews, maybe I drew the good luck on the cook, because I did not have a problem with the way the food tasted. Their egg rolls are pretty fair, love the won tons, and the rice was the best I've tasted in a while. I love ordering from here and will definitely continue. The girl who took the order was distracted, so they may need more front area help to avoid loss of courtesy and manners. read more

Geez what happened? We were in las cruces last year for a month and this was our go to for Chinese. Had it recently and everything was tasteless from the egg rolls to the entrees.
