    Crab Rangoon!
    Christian K.

I feel icky. In the midst of a half day, I decided to find something that was not Burger King or Taco Bell for an early dinner. Pockets of Florissant can have some pretty unique places, but I was kind of on the edge of Ferguson where little interesting exists. Therefore, I chose an old family favorite, Chin's Wok. Now some of you have heard me rant about my Chinese snobbery. With that being said, today was not a good day for Chin's Wok. Normally, I enjoy what I have enough, but my stomach ain't too pleased with the meal today. On the positive side, CW is fairly inexpensive. I ordered the Sesame Chicken with pork fried rice and two crab rangoon for about seven dollars after tax. Also, the portions are significant. I'm still staring at what I couldn't fit in my tummy! Finally, I will give it up for the crab rangoon. A lot of these places really jip you on the filling, but the cream cheese was flowing from these babies! On to the downside. The quality of the chicken was just not there. For this price, I don't expect my fowl to be free range and read a bedtime story every night before sleep, but I had a hard time differentiating between the breading and the chicken. Also, the fried rice was pretty flavorless. Determined to finish my meal, I am now feeling pretty gross. I guess that I shouldn't be surprised that I didn't find the best Chinese in my home town of Florissant, MO, but I would have like just a little better.

Food poisoning. We used to like this place, but they serve spoiled steak occasionally (apparently) so eat at your own risk.

The food came out fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. The popcorn chicken was crispy and perfectly seasoned, the stir-fry was delicious, and the sizzling pepper beef was easily one of the highlights -- incredibly flavorful and cooked perfectly. The portions were generous, everything tasted fresh, and there wasn't a single disappointing dish on the table. This was our first time trying ChiliSpot and it absolutely lived up to the recommendation. One of those places where you're already looking at the menu deciding what you want to try next time before you've even finished your meal. Fantastic food, great experience, and an easy 5 stars. We'll absolutely be back!

For two people, this is my go to order:…read more *Deep fried handmade tofu with special sauce (17.95) *Sautéed lamb with cumin (19.95) *Storm fish fillet (19.95) The lamb has enough of the "wetness" and vegetables to eat and mix with the rice. The lamb pieces used to be small but they are huge now! Appreciate the owners taking the feedback. I think they make the tofu in house. They are huge thick soft pieces with enough crispness on the outside. It's a good introduction to how seriously Chinese people take tofu and how in other countries they have a huge variety of tofu, vs the select few we have in the U.S. And I used to be partial to the spicy fried fish at cate zone, but chilispot has upgrade this dish a lot. It's perfectly crispy and hot!!! Even if you don't like fish, it's a great dish and also makes for great leftovers. I know the fried chicken is popular but I find the chicken pieces are too small. Even with two heavy eaters, we still have leftovers for another meal

However, I remember it as being a decent place to dine with a good amount of selection and fair prices. Upon entering, I was quite surprised to see that their pricing was still reasonable, however I didn't understand the upcharge for Sunday vs. the weekly buffet price as nothing on that Sunday buffet reflected an upcharge type dish in the slightest. Upon my first trip up to the buffet, I was a bit surprised to see that literally not one item on that buffet had changed in the past 7 years. I guess any kind of variety is out with this place or they don't know how to prepare anything else. At 11 am with a very light crowd present, all of the food was cold, completely unacceptatble having only opened at 10:30 am! Honestly I think the General Tso was the only item I had that was luke warm besides my bowl of soup. Many of the buffet dishes appeared to be leftover from the previous evening - - a good cook can tell what's fresh vs. leftover. The crab ragoons were tough and chewy a telltale sign of having been reheated. The egg rolls appeared to be refried as they were exceptionally dark brown in color. Literally no one was touching them either. The "fresh" seasoned green beans were all shriveled up. The lo mein noodles were swollen, having clearly soaked up all the juices/sauce from being stored and re-served. I think you get the picture here. I guess one might get food that is fresh and warm after all the leftovers have been eaten up by the victims dining at opening time. Good luck with your experience. Also, this place is exceptionally dirty and ran down with black mold on the walls and ceiling. It desperately needs a coat of paint, some new ceiling tiles, flooring, and lighting upgrades. . . fairly inexpensive upgrades and things you think would have changed somewhere along the way in the past 7 years since my last visit.

I think sometime in the near future, I'll try dining in. I frequently change my entree, but I always get one egg roll and an order of crab rangoon. The egg roll is larger than most Chinese restaurants. I like that it's super crispy and the inside is packed full. The crab rangoon comes with four pieces and they'll ask you if you want a side of sweet & sour sauce. If you say yes, you'll get a small cup of the red sauce like when you order Sweet & Sour Pork or Chicken. They don't give you those small packets like other restaurants. My usual go to entrees are always Beef and Broccoli or General Tso's Chicken. Both of them are very good. I do the B&B when I'm trying to eat healthy Chinese. The beef is tender and the broccoli is soft, but still has a little snap to it. When enjoying the Beef and Broccoli, I have white rice. The General Tso's Chicken has a lite crispy coating and the sauce blends perfectly with fried rice, instead of white rice. Service is over the top friendly.
