Lois--I had the same exact experience with Chipio except the woman that did the repair did not leave any "gunk" on windshield. But I cannot answer your question about whether or not the repair was necessary...I am wondering the same thing because my "chip" was also pinsize. I also have allstate who covered the claim but stated the same thing about them not being one of their prefferred providers, which wasn't a concern to me. I don't know if these tiny chips from rocks need repair...I would not have had the work done if the insurance didn't cover it. They told me the same thing about the possibility it could get bigger and yadda yadda yadda. Anyone else know if these pinsize chips really need to be fixed? read more

This company is a scam.I briefly worked for Chipio winshield repair before realizing this.I was promised a management job and scammed to sell windshield replacement at the pumps of Sams Clubs.I emailed Abraham and stated that I would not come back to work due to being scammed by him and that i wanted my paycheck. Here we are over a year later and I still never received my paycheck from money owed for days worked.This company hides behind Sams Clubs name and they are anything but professional.Having been a former employee of SafeLite Auto Glass I would highly recommend you call them first and have professionally trained employees do the quality work you are looking for. I ran into the Chipio people at the Chevron on Lakewood and Del Amo. A guy dressed pretty nicely in a black shirt and black pants came up to my car with a window cleaner and started cleaning my window as I was pumping my gas. I asked him if he worked at Chevron and he stated he was contracted through them. Then as he was cleaning the passenger side of the window, he called me over to point out a chip in my window. I told him it wasn't a big deal as it was the size of pin. He said he could repair them right now at no cost to me if I am fully insured. I was about to brush him off when he told me they could get bigger and expand because of the heat. Can they? I have no idea. I never claim to be the most savvy of consumers but I try to stay away from stuff that seems like a scam. I'm not sure how I feel about this encounter today. He called over a female tech who was about to start working on the windshield but I stopped her and told the guy I wanted confirmation from Allstate that the repair would be covered. So he called and waited. Apparently he had dialed the wrong number so he called again and this time got an Allstate guy from the repairs department on the phone. I asked him if he gets calls like this often (I meant, do people call him from the gas station about repairing a crack in the windshield after talking to sales people but I didn't specify) and he said yes. I asked him if windshield repairs were common and he said yes. So I thought oh, ok. Then he asked me if I had been injured when the windshield cracked. I was like.. uh no. I should have mentioned that the crack was barely visible. I don't know why I didn't. Then he asked me if I knew when I had gotten the crack. I told him probably while I was driving on the freeway. Then he let me know that Allstate does cover windshield repairs but Chipio is not on their list of approved companies so any warranties would be through Chipio not Allstate. I told him that's fine. The girl finished the repair but whatever she used left gunk all around the "crack". I asked the guy to clean it off but he couldn't get it all off. Sigh. He gave me a copy of the receipt showing that it cost me $0 but there would be a claim filed and billed to my insurance company for $60. I understand it is a sale job so I wonder if the tiny little crack I had even needed repair. I feel like I was kind of dumbstruck by this unexpected situation, if I could go back I wouldn't get the repair done, it just seems unnecessary and almost fraudulent. I saw how the scam went down. The Chipio Predators claim to be there (at the Arco Gas station on Rodeo and LaBrea in my case) under the guise of cleaning your windows for "customer appreciation day". Even though I told them "NO THANK YOU" they continued "wiping" my windows and fast-talking me (which is why I didn't want them near my car in the first place). I knew about one chip in my window which already had sealant on it, but then all of a sudden out of nowhere 3 other small "chips" appeared. I could here something hard hitting my window as they wiped it! They are vultures solely out to suck your car insurance DRY! STAY AWAY! I even called the police on them. I spoke to every agency I could about this SCAM COMPANY and I better not EVER SEE THEM AGAIN or else I will be right alongside of them telling people not to let them touch a speck of DUST on their car! Chipio Windshield Repair at Sam's Club. We were refueling our Beemer at our local Sam's Club gas pump when the same thing, a guy washed our windshield. I know we had two chips in the class and had been thinking of having a chip repair done. So we drove over to Chipio's windshield repair stand set up in the Sam's Club parking lot. I checked out the repairs person's uniform and ID bag, the uniform was a Sam's Club uniform and the bag had Sam's Club logo on it. I felt comfortable at this point that they were approved by Sam's and the receipt has Sam's Club on it. The repair guy did what appeared to be a good repair. But, by the third day the resin had clouded and some had fallen out. Called Cheepo (sorry I meant Chipio) repair. To keep a long story short, repair was completed on December 2, 2012 at the Sam's Club, since the third day after the repair I have calling Cheepo (Chipoi) repair, now for three months with so many reasons why they can't fix it at the Sam's club that I am tiring of calling Cheepo. My next stop is going to be Sam's Club. Although, I anticipating being informed by a Sam's manager to the fact Cheepo is an outside contractor and there is nothing Sam's can do. They approached me at the shell by CSULB got the crack fixed for $40. Few months later the crack started getting bigger again, I still had the receipt and they give you a warranty. So I called their customer service not really responsive. Then I called Abraham (the guy who fixed my window, I had his phone # on the receipt) he took responsibility in his work, he texted me over 10 times (we had to reschedule the appointment due to Christmas) and finally he came by my house to fix the windshield, of course it was at zero cost due to the warranty. We chatted about school (he graduated from CSULB) the repair was quick and I have no doubt it will be easy to contact him if anything happens to my windshield again. I think some employees at this company are better than the others, few bad apples making the others look bad too. For those of you reading this trying to do some research for this company. I used to be employed by them until I figured out how shady the company was. I worked Monday through Friday 7am to 5pm. Everyday we would come in and be told that we would be sent to a different gas station or car wash. For the first week or so I had a partner that I went out with he showed me the ropes and told me the spiel that I was supposed to give. It goes something like this. Me: Hey, how are you today? Person: "Good!" , "Good! You?" Me: I'm excellent! Hey! Just wanted to let you know that the Gas Station hired us today for customer appreciation day to come out here and give everyone a complimentary windshield wash! At this point they will either let you do it, or say no. Then once you begin washing, this is just bs so that you can clean the windshield to look for nicks or cracks. The experts can tell if you have a crack before they even approach you. Once you have found the crack you beckon the driver and say "Ouch! Did you see this nick/crack in your windshield?!" and persist at about how severe and unsafe the damage can get before the entire thing will have to be replaced. Basically this is a very "shady" business. When you file the claim it is "at no cost to you" unless you have a company that uses a "Vanishing Deductible" I worked in texas so it was a "No-Fault Claim" but it is a claim none the less. You will lose the Vanishing Deductible and that person who did the repair has just gotten a commission off of you. Congratulations. DON'T ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN TO YOU. CHIPIO IS VERY SHADY! read more

Ok, I strongly regret even talking to the guy at the gas station in Murrieta. He said he would fix the chip in my window for 60 bucks and because I have geico insurance it would only cost me 40 bucks out of pocket and my insurance would reimburse me. I agreed, so he started working on it, as I came out of gas station he was using a dremel on my windshield in different spots on my window other than what was agreed. I stopped him and ask y he was putting more holes in my window, and he said there was more cracks/ chips. I wondered and asked him how he could know such a thing as my window was filthy and he didn't even clean it before starting the work. At this point I was irritated and upset. He finally finished, and directed me to side of building where the sun would help dry it quicker. Then he has a girl come remove the plastic thing off the said chipped area. And they say I'm good to go. Did I mention they left a bunch of gunk all over my windshield? Ummm ya they did. As I got home, I cleaned it off and noticed the chip was not fixed, in fact was now a hole as opposed to the original tiny chip. So I called the # on receipt complaining of the service( or I should say lack of )....... I told them they made my window worse. A day or two later the guys sales manager came to my house to correct the problem. She fixed it herself and was very apologetic and I believe she had good intentions of fixing issue. She said she would mail me a gift card for the inconvenience to go out to eat somewhere. Well it is almost a month later and still have not received that. On top of that, my insurance company tells me they cannot reimburse me the 40 dollars due to the fact, there wasn't a method of payment on invoice I faced them..... So with all this, I called company again and told them that I am still being inconvienenced and they have sales manager get in touch with me again, and she tells me they will just refund me my money, yet I have to drive all the way to Riverside to pick it up. I live in Temecula!..... So I guess I can drive all the way there to get my money back and in turn spend a good 20 to 30 bucks on gas and the time to sit in traffic to get my money back lol. In other words, I'm screwed and I will strongly reccomend anyone and everyone never to trust these people with their windshields. Get it done by professionals and if approached bythese people, back your car away quickly before your car is damaged by them, and you become as inconvienced as I am by a similar experience. read more

Chippio employee approached my teenage son at a 7-11 parking lot next door to a Shell Station in Pleasanton, CA. My son was driving my car. The employee told my son there was a chip in the windshield and that it was illegal to drive the car in that state. My son, fearful of driving with a chip (which by the way we never noticed), agreed to the repair. The charge was $85 and we argued with them about the way they conducted business. They reduced the price to $20, which my husband paid, but they would not give a receipt because of the reduced price. The Chipio guys used to come out to the Air Force base (Vandenberg). You dont get on post with out passing some strict checks and rules of conduct. If that guy really was a Chipio person I doubt he still has a job anymore - they dont tolerate that stuff read more

I hate the way my windshield now looks after having Chipio do a windshield chip repair on my car. I was NOT satisfied with the technician.He did not tell me that he would be drilling the chip to make it larger and that the sealant they used would not dry clear. read more
