Visited their website to get a windshield replacement quote for my 1990 Honda. Got a quote, scheduled a mobile appointment for 3 days later (March 12) and even paid in advance. Got an email asking me to confirm. I did. Got a text later asking me to confirm. I did. The night before my appointment, I got a call from them. The lady told me, "We cannot find the glass, and also none of my techs know how to work on this older vehicle. So we're not going to be able to do the replacement." I didn't know how to respond. The premise was so ludicrous, it totally felt like a prank call. It would be funny if it wasn't so frustrating. If anything, wouldn't a windshield replacement be WAY easier on a 1990 car than with a modern car? Lots of modern cars have special features that need the new windshield to be calibrated and so forth. Mine is just glass and sealant. No calibration needed. No integrated cameras or rain sensors or lane-departure warning sensors involved. Just glass and adhesive and basic tools. Totally simple and straightforward. But whatever. I went elsewhere and got it done properly. When I arrived at the other shop (who magically had my glass in stock), I told them of my experience with Safelite. "Sounds like they just didn't want to be bothered," they told me. And yeah, that's exactly how I felt. Or, if I am to take them at their word, I guess that no one should even think of coming here if they have an older car, because Safelite in Fullerton claims that they just don't know how to replace a windshield on a car from 1990. I went with Safelite Repair, which is more expensive than most, to replace a shattered rear window on my 2012 E350 Mercedes-Benz, and what should have been a straightforward repair turned into a hazardous incident. I left my car at the repair shop in Fullerton for 4 hours, and when the technician(s) finished, I asked the staff if they had vacuumed my vehicle. They said they had, so I drove off without inspecting it, since I trust their word. I left my car in the garage for 48 hours, as requested, to avoid moisture or water getting into the back window. Two days later, I was preparing to pick up my granddaughter from school and decided to inspect the back seat to make sure it was safe. I was shocked to find chunks of glass in the back seat, on the floor, in the booster seat, and on the armrest. This wasn't just "two or three little pieces." It was 20+ pieces of glass, which were dangerous. Sharp glass in a child's booster seat? In the creases of the upholstery where little fingers dig? On the armrest she leans on? Totally Unacceptable. I spend an hour vacuuming and wiping down every surface with tape to remove shards of glass left behind (view video) by Safelite. After vacuuming my car, I called their customer service department on 10/23/2025 and spoke with a representative who transferred me to a Customer Service agent. I explained what happened and shared my concerns. The Customer Service Representative promised that a manager or regional manager would be calling me back within 24 hours. I did not receive a callback within 24 hours as promised, so I called two days later on 10/25. The same thing reoccurred. I spoke to a representative who transferred me to a Customer Service agent who said they would elevate my call and have a manager call me the next day, since it was close to 5 PM PST. I am still waiting for a Safelite manager to call back, having made the call on October 23. (14 days) as of today, November 7, 2925. Safelite Repair turned a rear window repair into a risk of child endangerment. I'm alerting my insurance company, AAA of Southern CA. I'm warning everyone: if you use them, please check their work before you leave--or better yet, go to a glass repair company that actually cares. Update on my post review: I finally got a call back from the Shop Manager who apologized after I explained what happened. He asked "what can we do to make it right?" NIGHTMARE! The technician this joke of a company sent out to me was EDWARD. As rude, ghetto, and unprofessional as it gets. Arrived hours late, started up the recalibration, and left before even fully starting up my repair. Only word I got was "I'm late for my other appointment. He was at my property for no longer than 20 minutes before fleeing my appointment. He seemed like he was drunk or on drugs. Did not feel safe whatsoever with him near my property or vehicle. He left my vehicle with collision failure alerts due to starting up recalibration and not following through with it. Horrendous company. NIGHTMARE!! I rarely leave bad reviews but I felt compelled to share our experience to hopefully save others the trouble. We brought my wife's Mercedes Benz C300 for a simple windshield replacement, and unfortunately it turned out to be a frustrating mess! Here's our nightmare of a story, our first visit and after being here for more than four hours. The Technician informed us that the windshield that was ordered had scratches so we had to come back again. Our second appointment where we were supposedly promised high priority but after six hours we told the windshield couldn't be calibrated. Apparently they didn't have the technology so we had to come back again for a third time. Now our third appointment, the windshield was replaced but we are now being told that we have to take the car to a Mercedes Benz service center for the calibration. Why weren't we told this on day one? We then take the car to a Mercedes Benz service center and we're told that the car's camera was damaged. This is a new car and the only person that worked on the windshield was Safelite. We went back to Safelite to express our concerns, we were met with excuses instead of solutions. Not only was the job poorly done but our car was damaged by them with no accountability. Coming here was a huge mistake and waste of our valuable time. The customer service was dismissive and unprofessional. We will have this escalated to a district manager, Better Business Bureau, and considering opening a small claims case. I dropped my car off at 9am and it should have been completed by 4 pm. Well at 7:15pm still not complete. I really wish I had read the recent reviews. And yes, that would have made a difference. Now I am sitting here waiting for my car on Friday night and we are missing our dinner reservations, as we were told they would have the car done by 6:30. So unfortunately life does have a tendency to throw me a lot of curve balls lately and cracking my brand new Cars windshield was one of them after having a really shitty week but thanks to my smart thinking and my belief that Insurance is there for a reason I had glass coverage which set me up from Allstate with Safelite, let me say hands-down. The best experience I've ever had replacing a windshield not only did they have the windshield ready to go when I showed up three hours earlier than my appointment they were willing to take me in earlier and they even finish my car an hour and a half before the stated time. The technician even came up to me before starting the repair just to confirm that the replacement was what I wanted to do and what to expect and was very courteous. Great waiting area comfortable set up my iPad. Did a couple conference calls and just did some work and had lunch DoorDash to me. Thanks again for your amazing work and taking care of my baby girl. You've been warned. Try somewhere else and save yourself the headache. I took my new vehicle for a simple windshield replacement, and unfortunately, it turned into a very frustrating mess. 1st Saturday appt, I was immediately informed that the windshield would be replaced with a generic one but the rain sensors would work and everything. I have a Mercedes, didn't care...I was not concerned and told them "no problem". They said they would need the whole day and to return at end of day to pick it up. We returned and had to wait still. The Technician said the windshield that that they had intended for me to have, had a scratch that would eventually crack and open....so he asked if we could return the following week and I would have top priority. I was appreciative and had no problem. 2nd Sat appt, Returned and since I was high priority, just thought I'd wait it out. I was told at 8 am that it would take 2 to 3 hours, only to be informed at 12:40 pm - 4 1/2 hours later that they were not able to calibrate the vehicle and I would need to return for a 3rd time. 3rd Saturday returning - I am told by Stella that she felt bad for me because I had been patient and waiting the past two visits, she was able to acquire a dealer quality windshield for me. The next step was for them to install the windshield and calibrate it. Windshield was installed but was told that they were not able to calibrate it and I would need to go to a Mercedes Benz dealership. So...a gruieling 4th week comes , on Friday, I take my vehicle to a service center and informed by the dealship inspector that my vehicle had suffered a camera internal failure caused by the Safelite technician who installed my windshield which was the reason why they were not able to calibrate it. Makes perfect sense now. I tried to make contact with Safelite to no avail. Called several times and left messages with the district manager on Friday 6/20/25. It is 6/25/25 and nothing from anyone at Safelite. I spoke to the technician, he said his name was Fernando. He was reluctant to give me his name. He was sadly dismissive and unprofessional. I tried to reason with him that I appreciated their efforts but they simply did not install the windshield correctly and in doing so, damaged my vehicle camera. The vehicle's software and parts are sophisticated to a level that maybe Safelite was ill prepared and trained for. I was hoping for some information or options...some solutions, something! Nope, instead I was greeted with denial from a man who was caught up in his ego and had an unwillingness to give me guidance of any kind. I tried very hard to speak to him with respect but expressed my frustration. Nothing helped. I felt completely hopeless and defeated. Safelite needs to do better with their Fullerton location on training their staff with newer vehicles, the work space to provide better support to the workers on site. Also, might as well improve on your beverage center. Coffee machine with no fresh water in it to get coffee...and please stop the Star Wars movie on repeat. I was nervous cause of the negative reviews, but I just had a great experience here. Made the appointment on the app, easy. Showed up and they started pretty shortly after my appointment time. Staff was super chill and friendly. My tech Rodolfo had some issues with my car's software not letting him in, but eventually he got it to work after a couple tricks. His communication was excellent and I watched him treat my car very carefully. I was worried about getting scuffs/scratches where the pry tools had to go. I have a lot of piano back interior that scratches easily and I'm picky, but everything was done with care. Extremely happy with their work. With the front windshield replacement and recalibration, even with the issues I was in and out in just over 3 hours. Not awful. I would come back here! read more

Safelite repair, Safelite replace... Sadly, this is the second time I needed a new windshield as so much crap gets kicked up from other cars when driving on the freeways of So Cal. But, this was my first time using Safelite as they are the preferred vendor for my insurance company. Everything was pretty much done online to get an appointment which I preferred. My windshield did not arrive before my original appointment time (about a week from making the appointment) so I had to wait an extra week but I got an OEM branded replacement and it's a supply chain issue so you can't blame Safelite. Safelite notified me via email the night before my appointment that they didn't have the windshield yet and automatically rebooked me for the same day and time a week later (when the received the part) which worked for me so again, kudos that the process was automated. My technician was Roman and he did a good job and kept me in the loop on what he was working on since I was waiting on site for the repair. I ask a lot of questions and Roman answered them for me. Especially questions about the recalibration of my 'Eye Sight' system. BTW, you will need to have 3/4 tank of gas or 65%+ charge on EVs as they need to test drive and get the diagnostic system to pass the recalibration and they never know how long that may take. Heard horror stories with Teslas taking 3 hours as the system would keep resetting mid-test. But, under 30 minutes is more standard for all cars. One tip if you are also going to wait for your car... bring coffee/food with you as I thought there would be a coffee shop or diner that I could walk to but they are in a very industrial area. My insurance company set up my appointment for me thru Safelite to get my recently cracked windshield fixed. I was able to get the appointment set up within a few days and the time was convenient with my work schedule. Check in was quick and easy and the service to get it done was only an hour. This isn't the first time that I have has this done and this was by far the best experience to date. Hopefully I won't need this done again anytime soon but if I do this will be where I come. Robert was great and explained everything afterwards and Fernando and Rudy gave great customer service when you walk in. A bonus is that they work directly with my insurance company so what would have been an expensive fix was a small deductible and no paperwork or hassle on my end. read more

I should have checked reviews prior to committing to a chip repair on my car. After reading through the reviews, I realized that many others have encountered the same problem as I did. I understand that repairing glass is very difficult, but the word "warranty" being used by the technician and on the Safelite website is extremely misleading. Did you know they don't actually "warranty" their work? What they mean is that they will "credit" you for the repair towards a new replacement. Yes, you heard me right, it's not a repair but a "credit." At the time of my appointment, the technician "guaranteed" me with "99%" certainty that the crack would not spread further and that it was essentially "fixed." However, two days after the repair, the crack started to grow again, so there goes that "guarantee" out the door. My issue is with the misleading language. Don't say "warranty," "don't worry, it is as good as new," or "it's basically impossible to get a rock to hit the same spot twice." This is obviously their way of getting you to buy their services. Had the technician been honest and upfront, saying, "Hey, this is not quite repairable, and I would advise you to replace it," I most likely would have gone a different route than using Safelite. But of course, they already knew that, so they "warranty" the repair work for you and essentially "steal" your money. My advice: Stay away from this place, and I hope you read this review before committing to the work, unlike myself. read more

I went to Safelite because I got a quote for $850, which was cheaper than other businesses in the area. I dropped my car off and everything seemed to be going great. When I picked the car up, they told me that they had installed the wrong windshield and I would have to come back another time to have the right one installed. I rescheduled for two weeks later. When I arrived, they said the price had changed to almost $1600. At this point, I had no choice but to pay the money and get the windshield replaced. Frustrating and Unreliable Experience I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Safelite Auto Glass has been incredibly frustrating. As of today, after over a week of back and forth, I still don't have my glass fixed. It all started when I scheduled a mobile appointment for Monday. I received multiple confirmation texts and emails over the weekend and again Monday morning. I waited at home all morning -- and no one showed up. When I finally called Safelite, they told me they didn't receive the part and rescheduled me for Friday. However, I never received any notice of this change -- no text, no email. They claimed they tried to call me, but I received nothing. Since I couldn't make it on Friday, they moved the appointment to Thursday, saying the part would be delivered by Wednesday. But then on Thursday, they told me the mobile technician was sick and couldn't make it. They offered to move the appointment again, or I could drive to their repair center -- which I did. The worst part? When I arrived at the repair shop, they told me the part still wasn't there. This was after I had specifically asked during the confirmation call whether the part was available and was told yes. At this point, I don't know what to believe. The lack of communication, accountability, and coordination between their departments is unacceptable. I've wasted time, rearranged my schedule multiple times, and still have no resolution. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise against using this company. You simply cannot trust their scheduling or their word. read more

Sure enough, the morning of my appointment, the technician calls me claiming my windshield "arrived damaged" so they couldn't do the install. Now I'm forced to reschedule -- but with the 4th of July coming up, that means waiting days. I work graveyards with strict days off, so this was the only day that worked for me. My girlfriend got a chip in her windshield and the next day we went in and dealt with Fernando the Manager. He walked us through the steps with insurance and took care of us on the same day. 30 min later it looked like there was never ever a chip but only a little scratch. They communicated through email and text confirmation. They also called the day prior to remind me to drop off the vehicle before 9:30am, not a specific time slot. Attn: RONNIE SIMPSON (District Manager) We had a windshield replacement service scheduled today between 12pm and 4pm. We stayed home the entire day waiting for the technician (I think it was Marco). He called around 9:30 am to say that due to possibility of rain he may not be able to make it. It did not rain here after 10am. No rain, we still waited..just after 3 pm we called the cell phone number he provided and there was no answer. We called back at 3:39 pm and Marco answered sounding like he really didn't want to show up but said he would be here after the job he was already on...mind you the service time window was just about over. Well surprise surprise, Marco did not show up. My husband called the Safelite number and was told by the "manager" that Marco went to our house and no one was home, LOL. Well obviously this was a lie and did not go over well with my husband who dropped an F bomb upsetting the "manager" who definitely sounded like he could handle 1 F bomb. "Manager" did not help the situation, then apologized saying "nevermind that was another person who wasn't home." This was after I got on the phone. I think manager was trying to save Marco. Manager gave me Ronnie Simpson's name as the district manager. Ronnie you gotta get on these guys or get some new guys because this was ridiculous. $1000 bucks pre paid for a new windshield and this is the kind of service you guys provide? Hands down one of the worst customer service experiences i have ever had. I was recommended to work with this location because of insurance. Set everything up online and the night before my appointment they called to let me know they did not have my windshield in stock. They told me they didn't have any appointments for a at home repair and that I am more then welcome to just come in. I let them know the whole reason I booked the appointment at home is because of my work schedule. The girl on the phone was extremely rude and told me to call back on Monday because it's Friday at 5pm and there's nothing she can do. I was never able to reschedule for them to come my residence so had to take time off from work to drop off the car. My wife walked in and the girl at the front desk didn't even look up and just said "$500". Told us the car would be done in 1.5-2 hrs and didn't get a call for 4hrs. Came to pick up the car and once again the girl at the front desk asked my wife for $500 when she already paid. There was a broken BMW part on the middle console and when we asked what it was she said it's nothing and seemed to not wanna talk to us cus it was close to closing time. Unprofessional, unreliable.. ! My husband scheduled appointments to replace his windshield time frame from 7am-11am. He was waiting whole morning and until 11am, no phone call, no text message to inform about late or no show at all. So he called and spoke to customer service, she said the technician not supposed to use the phone while working on the job so he cant call or text to give update when he will show up. (unbelievable unprofessional ) she said she will call him to let him know and he will contact my husband for update. After 1 hour and half, he called us, my husband asked if he can come at all or what is the lastest time he can come, he said he is working on a job and he has 3 more job to go before my husband appointments.
