I remember this place being on the news two years ago for getting people sick, but I happened to be driving down Fletcher thinking what I wanted for dinner - and Chipotle came up on top. I figured, they've probably stepped up their operations by now, huh...and besides it's been about four years since I've had their burrito bowl. So I go in and order the carnitas burrito bowl. I see staff wearing these clear, thin plastic gloves. That's a relief. And the food tasted just how I remember it. It really doesn't look that appetizing once you mix everything up in the bowl, but it sure is yummy. Some manager-looking guy with a clipboard kept checking up on his workers, filling out his chart of to-do's and what not. One employee even asked me how the food was. I absolutely love chipotle and this is the closest store near my house. Unfortunately, this particular location on Fletcher Parkway has caused me a few problems. We like to order online so we can grab the food and go. What we didn't know was that ordering online would take over 45 minutes for the food to be ready. There were a dozen other people also waiting for their mobile orders and the food was taking forever. We ordered online again to give it a second chance but it was the same. I ordered again today and I waited 20 minutes for the food and the food tasted bad. It didn't have any flavor at all. Their food is always cold and sometimes they forget ingredients that you ordered. There's been times when my bowl is only half filled. Also, there's always a horrible smell which is very unappetizing. I think that the staff just doesn't care anymore. This is the only Chipotle I ever get to visit because of its close proximity to SDSU and BevMo, but I do wish they had some more locations more south. Lets' admit it, Chipotle isn't 100% real authentic Mexican food, however it does taste more fresher and I would bet my money that the kitchen is much cleaner than any other taco shop in the world. I guess it helps that all of the food is made right in front of you just like a Subway is too. In my humble opinion, Chipotle's food is far better tasting than any other generic Mexican fast food place such as Taco Bell or Del Taco, and even beats the majority of taco shops food across San Diego County. I've learned my lesson to never order carnitas from a taco shop again, but I somehow trust the carnitas at Chipotle. The same can be said about their barbacoa. It's shocking, but I never bothered to order their carne asada but I've ordered the tacos, burritos and salad on the menu. I always seem rushed though when I'm ordering and I have to repeat what I want on my food since the employees are bouncing around in their heads, but I don't blame them, it's a fast food joint. read more

First thing I noticed is that the hired help has completely changed over and it's all guys. Second thing, I was ignored for over 5 min. while standing at the front of the line even though there were two people serving on the other side and one was helping one customer. Rude. Third, this group serves smaller portions than the prior servers - the customer in front of me kept asking the guy to please give her a little more. Fourth, the floor had food and trash all over it. The food was clearly where anyone could step and slip. The place was not as clean as it used to be. The manager of this Chipotle is the real MVP. I am a regular here because I work down the street so I typically place my order online and then come pick it up. She usually recognizes me right as I walk through the door and goes to grab my order for me but today I didn't even walk through the front doors yet, she just saw my car pulling in and went and got my food and I didn't have to say a word it was already there on the end of the bar all ready for me! I love Chipotle, but this is the worst location I have ever been to. Chipotle generally provides excellent customer service and they can whip up a burrito in no time. But the service at this location is just mediocre. The staff members aren't as interactive with the guests, and they take their time and socialize with one another more I'm used to at Chipotle. Jacob and Jacob...what a duo. They make the Chipotle experience one that's fun and doesn't seem like such a chore. Nobody likes waiting in line, but I will always be willing to wait in a line for Jacob and Jacob. There is one person in particular that works at this location who makes the experience so stressful by yelling at workers and boarderline yelling at the customers to hurry them up. When I see her, I typically go to the taco shop across the street because I don't want to be stressed out while I'm trying to get my meal. With that being said, Jacob x2 make it actually fun to go in. I love that they remember me from prior times but also give information on new promotions that I wouldn't have known about otherwise. They are a great asset to the team and I would highly recommend anyone reading this to go get a perfectly wrapped burrito or quality bowl, made exactly the way you want from team Jacobs. read more

Chipotle here we go. Get ready. To be 100% honest the food is pretty good. I was working at one of these locations and after my termination, they still owe me a couple hours and made it now impossible to get in contact with HR. So maybe they'll try contacting me soon. I'll be visiting all their locations and and I'll do a review 100% honest since i know exactly what to pay attention to. And i do have lots of respect to the guy that answers all reviews. He cares. The managers at the locations don't care or even bother looking at your reviews people just FYI So #1 don't order any food in their early hours people. You'll be served left overs from the previous day. That's a fact. Look at the chicken before you order it. It has to be light in color with their red adobo. If it has blackness. It's old children. Keep an eye on their beans. If it's soupy. Most likely old beans. During this visit looking at their steak it looks good a little dry. Supposed to be medium rare they say. That's a fall. If it ain't pink in the middle is over cooked. They should stop saying it's medium rare. Its well done 100% of the time. Check for yourself. Taste good but not what they advertise. Same with carne asada. And it doesn't taste like fresh squeezed lime. They use Bottle citrus you can see the cook from the line using the bottle.. also not using any portioning spoons i doubt these kids have enough experience to be able to just eye ball it. But it's still not bad in flavor just inconsistent. You hear the timer go off in your visit? Yeah it was ringingfor almost 2 min. That's the top of the hour change your gloves way your hands timer. You can hear them call it out when they turn the timer off. I see one person actually stopped and went to wash their hands. Not even the manager. Wow ok with Covid and all? Interesting.. The staff is nice here. Theres like 12 people making burritos only one guy cooking and they're just shouting out food at him. That's wrong. We've eaten there several times because the location is convenient for us and the service is fast, and the food ok. Last night was my last time there. I got the Burrito Bowl with a little rice and pinto beans. They would only give me one spoon full of chicken. I also had some sautéed onion and peppers, hot salsa and lettuce. I should have passed on the lettuce because it did not look fresh. All this made for a small burrito bowl unlike the ones shown in the photos. If it had only been that I would have been ok with that, but within an hour or so of my meal I did not feel so well and I am still feeling the effects this morning as I write this. To be precise my insides feel like they're in an uproar. I did notice that when we went in yesterday about 4:30 the place was empty and this is a location with a large dining room, so I don't know how long the food had been sitting out. I also noticed none of the food was actually hot, just barely warm. Wonder why they have the word "Grill" in their name. Have never seen anything get grilled there. Chipotle and I go way back.... it's my go to fast food. I've been to many all over the country but this location is different. The employees are always friendly.... but on 2 different occasions I saw food health problems. First time: our cashier rang up a customer then immediately started helping us. I had to ask her to wash them before serving us. Second time an employee who seemed to be on a break was hanging out in the kitchen (for everyone to see) eating her chips (while touching her hair/face) OUT OF A BIG TRAY CUSTOMERS ARE ALSO BEING SERVED FROM. This Chipotle has seen a massive improvement in staffing and enthusiasm. The 4 main women who work around lunch time are extremely upbeat and always start my order off with a smile. I come here on a 3 times a week or more basis and can say I never have an issue here. The rice is always fresh along with the sofritas and beans. The mild salsa and lettuce are always crisp and cold and fresh. Since I come in here so often they have a sense of remembering my order and always greet me friendly. If you want some fresh and healthy Mexican food I definitely recomendable you come here to try some! read more
