Worst Chipotle in San Diego hands down. We stopped coming to this location because of the service, and food conditions. Went back tonight because it's been a while. No change. There's literally food everywhere. Floors, food prep counter, grill area, and even on the counter by the drink dispenser. 7:30 pm and they are out of rice (likely because they don't want to make more tonight). Watched the guy scrape meat out of one of the well trays, while all the water off the bottom dripped in the cheese. 6 bottles of sauce on the shelf. Dirty as hell, and not one with a top. Napkins empty, no sugar for tea... the list goes on and on. It's clear that management is not paying attention to employees that don't care. I'll be calling the health dept on Monday if I live that long. read more

Always great service here and good portions. They have the Al Pastor back right now and that's always flavorful. My go to is usually double steak salad I like to keep it low carb and this is one of those places you can do that without breaking the bank. I'm leaving the review because I agree with so many others who have posted that this location is such a problem! I've lived nearby since 2019 and any time I've tried to give it another chance im soooooo disappointed (6 years) !! Drive through, in store pick up, delivery, in store order it literally doesn't matter. It's bad every time. Missing paid additions like others have said or the embarrassing portion sizes. I've seen an employee scrape burned to the pan rice out and put it in my bowl. There is always food running low and the cooks should get paid more or they need to hire another because nowhere else do I ever go and all food is low. Again go to any other location or the pick up sticks or McDonald because it's been so bad here every time for years. Online order First and foremost I would like to start off with my complaint with the manager along with many other concerns.The manager was informed on the problem,my food had hair in it along with the order being incorrect. I'm sorry but everyone who is running this Chipotle is smoking cr*ck. This is the only reasonable explanation as to why the service is so awful. I don't even write reviews but the way this store is ran is so embarrassing I have to laugh (and share my thoughts). I live down the street and have given this chipotle so many chances thinking "maybe next time it'll be better and they'll have stuff in stock" and it's just bad every time. The one time I wanted a salad, they were out of lettuce. When I wanted a burrito, they were out of tortillas. When I wanted a bowl, they didn't have white rice, beans, or guac. And if you want chicken, be prepared to sit and wait 20 mins :) today they didn't even have chips. Do they only get food shipments once a month? Is there a monkey in the back room pressing random buttons on the computer? Today there was one girl running the whole show (taking orders, making bowls, ringing people up) while her other 3-4 coworkers were doing who knows what. Shout out to her, she should have sent everyone else home. If corporate is reading this, please close down this chipotle! It's giving La Mesa a bad rep at this point. Repulsive. Food prep areas are a disgrace and a serious health hazard. Food is not handled in a hygienic manner. Staff could care less when told they are handling food this way. Let's just say chipotle is not beating the dirtiness allegations. It's a shame as this location was amazing a few years back, but now the food area is dirty, the floors are dirty, the chips are stale...haven't tasted the rest of the food yet so I can't report on that, but as it was almost empty and the tubs of food were all down to the last scrapings, I'm not feeling too confident. Sometimes good customer service can save a bad time, but all I got was a girl popping the gum in her mouth while I waited for her to take my order, or at least acknowledge my existence. I always get a bowl with white rice, black beans, carnitas, guacamole, cheese, sour cream, and some lettuce. Never disappoints and always hits the spot. Only criticism would be that the portions are inconsistent. Some days you get hooked up and some days it's like you ordered the skinny version of the bowl. When they finally refilled it, they refused to add the rest of the bean portion because "the meat was already on there". All the tables were disgusting, we had to ask someone to wipe down a table, and she seemed like it was such an inconvenience. Also, didn't wipe down any other tables.. then someone started sweeping the floor and kept pushing and pulling the chairs that made a horrific noise on the cement floor. Had such a bad experience with this location for an online order. I had ordered two bowls with a side of chips and guac. Both bowls also included guac. Despite ordering a head of time, they still took 20 minutes to complete the order after the estimated time it should've been done. Normally this isn't too much if a big deal for me, I get things do happen. Luckily, I wasn't in a rush, so I didn't mind waiting that much. When I arrived home, i was really disappointed. Neither of the bowls had guac! As for the chips&guac they had replaced the guac with queso. I would've understood if they were just out of guac but I was never told whether or not they ran out of it. They had 20 minutes extra to tell me that they ran out of this item. Again, I would've been fine with it! Things happen and I understand there have been supply chain issues everywhere. I have never been to a chipotle that smelled of sewage until today. Horrible smell and it permeates the whole place. I ordered my food online and waited. When my app told me it was ready I hopped into the "chipotlane" and waited there. No one even came to the window to help me. I went in and that's when the smell hit me. That place reeks!! I placed a Chipotle app order for delivery at 11:58am today for a whopping total of $51. The actual order itself not including any delivery fees was $38 for 2 bowls and a large order of chips and guacamole. The delivery went smoothly and actually arrived before the scheduled delivery time. The actual food was absolutely ridiculous. Both bowls were ordered with fajita veggies and one even asked for an extra amount. Both bowls came with ONLY massive amounts of rice, a few fatty chunks of meat, and lettuce, no fajita veggies what so ever. Not to mention the large guacamole is very very old. Very brown, and smells old, along with tasting sour. This is beyond ridiculous for $38. I have tried to reach over the phone and it was never answered. I also input complaints through their online service robot "pepper". Hoping I can get a refund for the price I paid for the food. Unacceptable. read more

They screw up burritos, they don't roll them up fully so they come apart when I get home, the are always out of something whether it's meat, rice, sauces, etc. the customer service is horrible. Way to go Chipotle! The new Queso is awesome. Comes in 2 sizes. It is hot, cheesy and the perfect amount of spicy heat. I like to get the fresh made guacamole and double dip. My all time fav is the 3 taco combo. You can order flour or corn tortillas or crispy shells. Barbacoa here is the best-they give you ample helpings on the burrito bowl. I've been to other locations and it's not as good but the La Mesa location is great! Plenty of parking outside including handicapped parking. Chipotle does catering too! read more

First time visiting this location and this is not chipotle. First thing I noticed was how sloppy the food line was and dirty. The girl making my bowl put very little toppings in my bowl. I decided to let it slide. I got home and the chicken Al pastor did not taste like the Al pastor I had at other locations. My guacamole had a sticker in it. I decided to go back and get my refund because this was the worst bowl I've ever had the food was not fresh and it was cold. I spoke to a "manager" I showed her the sticker in the guacamole her response was "nice". I also let her know they aren't making the al pastor correctly it tastes way different from other stores.
