(10/31/11) I bought their LivingSocial deal of 90-minute aromatherapy and deep-heat massage and I wasn't disappointed. I'm a college student so being able to snag such a good deal online makes my day and having a great experience cashing it in makes my week! The location: I've never been to their previous place (Aurina told me they were in the plaza behind the El Torito on Van Nuys and Ventura) although I've driven past it at least a thousand times, but I am familiar with the area they were in and this new place that they're at is quite a few steps up! As soon as I pulled in to their new place I was taken aback by the beauty of the building. It doesn't look like most medical businesses. It's beautifully landscaped and makes you feel like you're visiting your rich Aunt Judy lol (they have a cobblestone driveway and parking area!). The fountain at the entrance is a really nice touch. It fills the lobby with a nice rhythmic sound that can set even the crankiest scrooge in a tranquil mood rather quickly. After a quick ride up their gorgeous elevator you get to their floor and have to walk all the way down to the end of the hall to their door. The office: As soon as I walked in I was greeted with smiles and asked to fill out my basic info. That took all of like 2 minutes after which I was shown to my room and given instructions to disrobe and tuck myself in under the sheets and blanket. I was the first appointment of the day and expected I'd be walking in to a cold office but they must've come in earlier and started the heat right away. That was very much appreciated by me because that morning was a rather chilly one. The office itself was very elegantly laid out. The color scheme was gorgeous and their couch was really comfortable. The last place I went to for a massage was in a shopping center so this place really made a great impression. The massage: When I was done filling out paperwork I was shown to my room by my therapist. Afterwards Aurina came in, introduced herself to me again and asked me if there were any trouble areas I'd like her to focus on. I explained to her the exact areas where I sometimes hurt and she said she's take care of it. Before beginning she went an extra step and warmed up the lotion she'd be using on me. Again, very much appreciated. Aurina had a firm touch and made most of my knots disappear painlessly. She was a really pleasant lady and made my experience a very pleasant one. Overall I really had a great experience. I was impressed by the building and the fact that the staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. I will definitely be back whether I get a deal or not, it just may take me a bit longer because I plan on sending my mom here before me. read more

Luckily, I dont have back problems too often, but when I do, Dr. Z is the first person I go to. Being in the health care field myself, I know what a good practitioner is. Dr. Z is very well-versed in her field. She has a great chair-side manner, and works wonders with what she does. Her masseuse on staff is also great. Absolute success. I've been suffering from migraine headaches for over 20 yrs. My insurance only covers a certain number of prescription meds per month (9 pills!), and for years, I barely make it through each month and RUSH to the pharmacy to refill my Imitrex on the first possible day. Frequently, severe neck pain accompanies the migraine. I also suffer from chronic lower back pain that radiates down my leg. After a particularly rough summer of seeing a number of specialist physicians for various unrelated medical problems (sigh) and out of sheer desperation, I walked into Dana Zappala's office in September. After seeing her faithfully for two months I can honestly say that I went from 2 or more migraines per week to MAYBE 2 per month! It is amazing. And the neck pain is completely gone. It is December 6th and I still have 4 pills left from the 9 pills I got refilled on September 2nd! I have been to several chiropractors through the years - they all take xrays, do ultrasound, offer massage therapy, do adjustments and promise to take my pain away. This is the closest I have ever been to pain free. Dr. Zappala is very professional and takes her job very seriously. She (gasp) takes copious notes and asks questions. In fact, she took more notes and asked more questions than ALL of the specialists I saw last summer put together. Don't let her small stature fool you - she is physically strong and has a strong personality - she is no pushover. She makes dietary and supplement suggestions - some advice I take, some I don't, but I don't ever feel as though she is pushing anything on me. Frankly, I've had ENOUGH of complacent, apathetic physicians who do nothing and expect to be paid handsomely. At least she seems to care about what she does. Dana Zappala gets results. Other Details: The offices are very relaxing, decorated comfortably and warmly and the staff are very nice. They all seem to genuinely like each other. Dr. Zappala was instrumental in my recovery from whiplash several years ago. Since then she has been my regular chiropractor, though I admit I don't get in often enough for adjustments! I always leave my appointment feeling clear-headed and comfortable. I especially appreciate that she has a gentle approach to neck adjustments, and also that there is no "formula" but each session seems unique to my needs on that day. Very grateful! read more

The only thing I liked about this chiropractor was the Dr, my back felt better after the adjustment BUT to get a massage it's impossible if you work a 9-5 because the massage therapist leaves at 4 or 430 so I made my apt for a Saturday I ended up not being able to make my apt so I called that morning @8 9 10 1045 even right at my apt time and a little after and the next day and the next finally Tuesday I text the number and said hello did any one get my messages I agreed to pay the fee for missing my massage and i said when can we reschedule for the massage dr never responded back I even drove on over to apologize and reschedule they were closed both days that I drove over there I finally gave up and Il find a place that is actually open with better customer service but thank you for he amazing adjustment! And on top of this my first apt that I made I was 2 minutes late I text to let them know and they said they had already left they had a mix up with my apt and they thought I was 330 not 430 well you should call your Apts 15 min after they are late to make sure they knew about their apt or didn't for get about it then you would have known your office scheduled me wrong bad service ! read more

I started seeing Dr. Zappala a few years ago after being attacked by a German Shepherd, having my hand ripped open, and receiving MD and physical therapy care that seemed to be hurting rather than helping me. I prefer healers who use kinesis and Dr. Zappala takes kinesis to new levels that have helped me open and release emotional issues I've carried through my life, and release them in a subtle, safe healing environment where I often feel I'm getting way more than I expected on psychological as well as physical levels. At the start, she diagnosed things the MDs didn't find and she has helped me regain most of the use of a nerve damaged finger and to heal my back and neck from hitting the pavement during the dog attack. Her use of kinesis is fabulous, the staff have always made getting ice/heat then ultrasound fun, are kind and supportive and I highly recommend coming here for healing on any level. read more
