I needed a couple of residential chairs recovered. The shop was unorganized but filled with people working diligently and precisely on each item they were tending to. I dropped off 2 mid century chairs, picked out my fabric, was given a fair price and was told I could pick them up in a week. 3 days later, I received a text that they were ready. Do not judge a book by its cover and trust their process.

Mo, one of the Kings @Kings customs, granted me an introduction to his buddy at PG Upholstery in Haltom City. I got in contact with Pedro, showed up @7am. He gave it a good once over, said he'd have it looking better than new. ( they all say that). Before my Uber showed up, my seat was being pulled out. My babyyyyy! Other shops wanted quite a bit, telling me they would need to either cover the seat entirely, or even both front seats to get a match. Needless to say $$$$$$$$. PG said the car needs to remain as stock as possible, thst it just needed the side bolster replaced and they could match it pretty close to oem saving my cars authenticity, and me money. 5 hours later I got the text, Bathsheba was out of cosmetic surgery. I showed up with super high expectations given he has some pretty rare vintage metal in his shop. The pics don't lie. His guys stitch work is better than Infiniti puts out. The match is spot on, at a fraction of the gouging the other 3 shops planned. I knew this was possible and PG confirmed it. Shop around. Then when you're ready to get your car new threads, head over to PG. No gouging, no upsale, just hard, honest work for very little of your hard earned cash. I was helped by Javier who told me to stop by a different day and that Pedro Gomez (the owner) would be there to give me a quote. I did show up the next day, as directed, but Pedro was nowhere to be found. A young man greeted me and told me that Pedro wasn't there and that he was the only person that could give me a quote. Ok, I was disappointed and left a negative review about my experience. Turns out I was then contacted by Javier who told me the reason Pedro wasn't there was because of a family emergency. I completely understood the situation and deleted my review. Javier then set up an appointment for me to see Pedro on 5 August, Pedro and I agreed on a reasonable price, fabric, etc etc, I paid a deposit, and I dropped off my seats. I was asked how soon I needed them completed by and I said I wasn't in much of a hurry but didn't have months to play with (within reasonable time). While they were disassembling the seats it was found the frames were very rusty. Pedro sent me pictures and asked me to call him about this (which I did) to give me the option to restore them or they would restore them for a price. I chose to do it myself during my two days off from work and brought them right back to him (14 August). Pedro said he would go ahead and start remaking the foam bottom and back and that he would call me to stop by and check them out to make sure I was ok with them (comfort wise). August 25 came and I never heard back from him so I texted him to see how things were going and if I could stop by to look at them before he installed the vinyl fabric to what he replied "that the seats were a lot of work, and that he would try to have them foamed by the current week or the next week, and that he didn't like being pressured". I didn't hear back from him so on 30 August (the day before I had to get back to work for a week) I asked him again if I could stop by to check them out. We ended up talking on the phone and Pedro was very annoyed (I guess to answer to a customer on the Saturday before Labor Day) and felt the need to call me "pushy" and that I needed to trust people more, blah blah blah. I ended up picking up my stuff and cancelling the job and told him I was going to pick up my (disassembled) seats after returning from work. He then texted me telling me that "I was in good hands" and that if I was ok with it he would have them ready in a couple of days. The damage was already done and I declined. He was kind enough to refund my deposit, thanks for that. They do good looking quality work at this place but that does not mean they can treat customers this way. I would not do business with again.

The seat cushions on the sofa where our butts are planted for TV viewing had become less than…read morecomfortable. The cushions had always been a little on the soft side, but over time had become painfully so (at least for me). The sofa is less than five years old and the fabric is still almost like new (surprisingly), so all I needed were the actual cushions put into the same fabric. And, fortunately, the fabric is in the form of a zippered cover so stuffing a new cushion inside would be an easy enough (and inexpensive) upgrade. I found Special Effects via another site where they had all good reviews. I gave them a call, found that they do make sofa cushions, and made the (long) drive down there with my cushions. They aren't located in the grooviest part of town and trying to get to them from the freeway was somewhat of a challenge since I am not familiar with that area, but (eventually) I got there. I worked with the owner who suggested a grade of foam he thought I'd be happy with (based on my comments about not wanting something too soft) and he wrote up a work order for foam and down cushions. I asked about turnaround time and he said it should be about a week, maybe less. Great! A week later, when I had not heard from them, I called to get the status and he said that he was waiting for a shipment of foam and was expecting it in a few days. OK.... After another week of silence, I called back and spoke with someone else (who turned out to be the owner's wife) to find out about the cushions. She was unable to find the work order and asked me to describe the cushions (apparently her husband had to leave town for a family emergency so he wasn't there). Uh-oh. I was starting to get worried now. Anyway, to make a long story short, she knew the cushions I described and asked what type of replacement cushions were supposed to be made. After I told her, she said they would be ready in an hour! Huh?? Anyway, I drove back down there the next morning and picked them up, brought them home, and put them on the sofa. These cushions are fabulous! They are so comfortable and our sofa is like new. So I guess this is an 'all's well that ends well' kind of deal. I have a feeling that the misplaced paperwork for my order was an anomaly, but it did contribute to the delay of my job and added to my stress level a bit (since the fabric on the cushions matches another piece in the furniture set). I'd give them a '5' if it was for the work alone, but I have to deduct a point for the snafu. Would I use them again? Probably. They do nice work (I did see some larger jobs at their facility they had done). I drove my cushions down there because they fit in my car, but they do offer pick up service for those larger upholstery jobs. They also custom make furniture.
