I never met the psychiatrist so I will have to guess whether the issue is anxiety or depression based off the prescription. I recommend the mental health unit for a traumatized child rather than an adolescent. The therapist was patient, but even though the kid realized that he answered a leading question about suicidal ideation, now it is part of his diagnosis history. They dispense melatonin to compensate for the echoing [poor acoustics] and screaming. With 18 beds, this is the smallest local facility so it took almost two overnights at the emergency room before he was admitted.

    Going home.

Another day, another choc specialist appointment. Today we were seen by the genetics department who are from a different clinic but see kids at choc. We saw Dr Zadeh who was wonderful, excellent bedside manner and overall very pleasant and easy to talk to. Highly recommend the genetics department for any special needs and testing your kid may need.

The Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) - now Rady Children's Health - beats out Loma Linda University Children's Hospital (LLUCH) IMO. I've been to both hospitals as a visitor but I was most impressed with my recent visit to CHOC. They have a large campus and many buildings. Checking in as a visitor was easy: Simply provide your driver's license and they will print out a badge for you to wear. The hospital was clean and brightly lit. Lots of fun colors and they even have themed days for the patients (e.g., Star Wars Day, Stitch Day, etc.). The room amenities were plenty. But what always stands out with children's hospitals are the caring and amazing staff. They go above and beyond to make sure the patient is comfortable. It's easy to put trust into CHOC's care because I've seen how they have treated their patients. Despite the circumstances, this is a great place to take children to when needing urgent or emergency care.

This Hospital is outstanding with very caring nurses making their rounds checking on their patients & the Doctors who wear their heart on their sleeve caring & catering to these Children in need. I had the privilege to fly on the CHOC Helicopter assisting these phenomenal staff and it made me want to be a better PA-C. God Bless You All in all you do & Thank you for your amazing service.

Had to visit CHOC recently for my son as I thought he fractured a bone-- long story short, he didn't, but our experience there was pretty good. I made small talk with some of the nurses who told me they weren't as busy as they usually are which made me question why it took us 2 hours to be sent to a room and then another 1hr and before the Dr showed up... but regardless, these things take time and I am grateful for the care we did receive. Levy up front was taking vitals and was very nice and personable towards the kids. Carlos was our nurse once we got a room in the back and he was great. We saw Dr. Paul (I think that's how you spell her name) and she was good. Lastly, Jacob took XRays of my son and was talking my son and I through it all so everyone felt comfortable. All in all, it was a positive visit.

It was a busy Friday night, yet the staff treated my father with urgency, dignity, and genuine compassion. What could have been a chaotic and impersonal experience instead felt human and attentive. After we arrived, the ER team worked tirelessly -- not just medically, but administratively -- coordinating with insurance, social workers, and case management. When my father became stuck in the ER due to complications with his prior facility refusing readmission, the UCLA team did not give up on him. They continued advocating, communicating, and ultimately helped secure placement in a better facility after nearly a week in limbo. That level of follow-through meant everything to our family. I especially want to recognize Nurse Claire in the ER. Her kindness and humanity were extraordinary. She gave my father blankets, made sure he was comfortable, and even offered me blankets, food, and water during a long and emotional night. She cleaned my father up with such care and dignity. After 10 hours of uncertainty, she brought calm, reassurance, and genuine bedside compassion that I will never forget. I also want to thank Dr. Carson Dangberg for advocating for my father during a very unfortunate situation. His professionalism and willingness to step in made a real difference. In one of the hardest moments for our family, this ER team reminded us that healthcare can still be compassionate and patient-centered. We are deeply grateful.

Had woke at 1AM with chest pressure(not pain), horrible nausea that was not relieved by my zofran at home. And just felt awful in general. Met with doctor and explained I had a history of tachycardia but it didn't feel like that was more like a heaviness and said nausea is very bad. Said I had a history of GERD. Also said I have been fighting a case of SIBO also. Said in addition I have lung disease. Tests were then performed (blood work) and chest xray to rule out any heart issues. Perfectly needed. Was sent to wait for results. Waited several hours. No one came to start an IV for hydration or any pain meds or GERD meds. One would think if you mentioned you woke at 1am and it's hours after and you've been nauseated, you MIGHT be dehydrated. I kept watching people being put on IV's and nothing yet for me. My test results came back (saw them on my chart) indicating no heart involvement. So still no move to address my nausea. I had been trying not to vomit for 6 hours. Then a nurse came out and said I was being discharged. I then said I have received nothing for my nausea! She said do you want to talk to the doctor? well duh yeah don't they come and say what the diagnosis is upon discharge? So she sent a message to him. An hour passed and I threw up bile in the bathroom and felt a little better. I told nurse I may just leave as I guess I'm not going to get any meds. she called the doctor and he came and said I didn't have a heart attack. I repeated I didn't get anything for my nausea. He says he will send a prescription to pharmacy for Zofran. I told him at check in I had them at home and they didn't work this time. At that point they wanted me to wait yet again going on my 7th hour there but I left. I could not believe this. So weird. I should have gone to my primary doctor but at 5 am his office isn't open. anyway I'm never going there again.

Like any major acquisition, there are growing pains, but the care at the bedside remains excellent. I arrived at the ER in a way I never thought possible. After a 17-hour fast and a severe allergic reaction to medication, my body shut down and I lost consciousness while driving on the freeway. Because my Tesla had Full Self-Driving engaged, the car's monitoring system detected I was unresponsive, slowed down, and safely pulled over to the shoulder--preventing a high-speed catastrophe. My wife was able to alert emergency services via Life360, and when they reached me, I was stabilized enough to stay in the vehicle as it autonomously completed the trip to the hospital. From the moment I "arrived" at the ER and walked in, I was in great hands. I was admitted overnight due to dangerously high troponin levels. Throughout the stay, the nurses and doctors checked on me frequently, kept me comfortable, and monitored my blood work until my levels returned to a safe range. I was discharged within 24 hours feeling alive and well. Huge thanks to the ER staff for their professionalism and care, to my wife for her quick thinking, and to the engineers at Tesla for building technology that literally saves lives when the driver cannot. If you find yourself in an emergency, know that the team here will take great care of you.

My mother was scheduled to have surgery here, which is already a stressful and vulnerable time for any family. Throughout our interaction, she laughing, smirking, and acting with a condescending patronizing attitude while treating my family with utter disrespect. To make matters worse, she showed zero self-awareness and only offered a defensive apology after I directly confronted her about her behavior. The treatment we received from her was so distressing that we ultimately decided to cancel my mom's surgery at this facility. It is incredibly frustrating because the rest of the employees and the doctor were absolutely wonderful, respectful, and professional. It is a shame that one immature staff member's atrocious attitude completely reflects poorly on the rest of a good team. If you are coming here for care, hopefully you do not get assigned to her. I had blood pressure of 224/94, and I called 911 because of chest pain and feeling very tired. I have a history of cardiac issues and had already had a heart attack 20 years ago. I was concerned that I might be having another heart attack, so I went to Garden Grove medical center. I never saw a doctor once admitted to my room! Plenty of "staff" but no doctor! They ran some tests but never told me that they do not have access to the equipment needed to perform cardiac catheterization to look at possible damage to my heart or even say for sure if I had already had a heart attack. However, they knew my troponin was through the roof!! They let me lay in that hospital for 3 days without a way to help me. While there, I shared a room with another patient who required dialysis. They gave that patient dialysis bedside, and they had a tube on the floor that was letting blood waste go down the drain into the shower we both shared. This patient next to me was terribly ill and was coughing non-stop and then on the 3rd day suddenly a paper appeared on the wall, and my family was now required to wear a gown, mask and gloves even though this was never mentioned before and I asked to be moved but they refused! I still don't know what he had but obviously it was very contagious and could have complicated my condition even further. My fiancé came and did basically a jail break because I was leaving AMA- Against medical advice. They would not let me leave! It took 3 hours for this staff member to tell us that she could not find a place with a bed for me anywhere near by and that I needed to stay there. We fought back and said no way! I signed their documents to leave AMA, and we were able to go to my brother's house and call 911 from there. I was taken to Whittier PIH and there they have an outstanding cardiac care unit. It was determined within an hour of my arrival at Whittier PIH that I had one main artery in my heart that was 99% blocked and two others that were at 50%. Garden Grove Medical Center couldn't tell me that after 3 days!!!! If I would have laid in that bed for any more time and I would have lost my life. Thankfully we got out of there and to a place where I could get the care I needed. It scares me for myself and for others that might experience something similar to this. These people are only too happy to bill our insurance and take our money, but they don't want to care for us! I still can't believe they made us wait 3 hours when we wanted to leave to see if they could locate a bed somewhere else which didn't happen! It should be shut down! Do they film horror movies here? Follow-up to hospital response: In response to your reply on Yelp.... It is impossible to get anyone to address the problem at your facility. They try to tell me that my husband with dementia isn't even there and don't know his location which is an outright lie! Your staff just has no compassion and should not be in the medical field at all. I am losing my husband to dementia. The staff really has no clue how difficult it is trying to care for someone you love, while watching them as they lose their cognitive abilities. I am all alone with no family to help out and your staff is fighting against me every step of the way. They are so unprofessional, refuse to communicate with me. They just want to deny and argue and now they think it is okay to deny him husband any contact with people he knows and is familiar with when he is already having trouble with confusion and remembering things. This is harmful and NOT helpful to his well being or what is left of it. The staff seriously needs training about HIPPA. HIPPA does not prevent me from speaking with my own husband. They are trying to use that to justify their actions. After multiple call attempts trying to speak with someone and being hung up on I finally went down to speak with your staff directly and was met at the door by two very nasty, hostile security guards with attitudes. The police are helpless. Your staff changed his medications without speaking with me, or his own PCP or neurologist who has been following him closely and treating him for over 5 years. This change of medications has caused his condition to worsen and no one at your facility will even listen. They all think they know better than his own doctors. He has been very combative and aggressive after being in your hospital for 3 weeks and was taken back there against my wishes. Your staff's inhumane treatment of using soft restraints on him is not recommended for dementia/Alzheimer patients. I love my husband very much and have so little time left to spend with him. Your staff is robbing us of that time together. They have lied to me, been very unkind, uncooperative and do not communicate at all. I suspect they are all doing this out of retallation for reporting possible insurance fraud to the insurance company. Your own weekend ER doctor admitted directly to me that some of the tests your staff performs are not necessary because the patient has symtoms but rather are routinely done in order to "get the insurance to cover the confinement". Hopefully you will address these issues as you indicate in your Yelp response to me. You have been holding my husband for nearly a week without any justification. This has caused his long term treament to be delayed twice now because he was locked up in your "Frankenstein Lab". He doesn't have enough life left to recover from the games your staff his playing with him. Someday they will have to answer to God for their unethical treatment to my husband.
