I was looking for a place in North York that sold cakes of Dufflet type quality, and I came across this. I got a Chocolate Meringue and Mocha cake, and it was delicious. I had ordered it on the phone, and when I showed up there, I was pleased that everything was written in their book and it was ready. Oh man, when I walked in there, I had to focus and restrain myself of looking at all their pastries. Yum. Creamy. Chocolatey. Their tiramisu cups looked amazing. the cake itself was $35. I was expecting more for a large 10+ piece cake. They personalized it, but not ont he cake itself, but a ribbon, with chocolate writing. Oh well. The cake it self was amazing and creamy. This is my new cake and dessert to go to someone's house getting place. read more

Chocolada-I never write reviews but this one took the cake! Do NOT order custom cakes here. Lana got the order wrong and when I complained she had the audacity to tell me that I made the mistake when I clearly specified what I wanted and in simple terms. No apologies whatsoever, no manners, extremely rude in the end I had to remind her that I am a paying customer. She was insinuating that I did not give sufficient notice for the "custom" cake then why did she took and fulfill the oder in the first place? Their custom cake involves changing the colour of the icing and putting cheap looking toys on top of the cake and that cost me $25. I was extremely disappointed and upset because the cake was for my child's birthday. So be warned and save yourself from all the hassle and worst customer experience. read more

I have been going to Chocolada for several years now and it has slowly become number one on my favourite bakery's list. As a wedding planner, I come into contact with bakeries far more often than I should. Wedding cakes are traditionally bland and too sweet, and are prettier on the outside than on the inside. Chocolada, however, changes all that. If you were to walk in, close your eyes, and point at random cake displayed, you won't go wrong. The tastes are rich and savoury, with lingering aftertastes and delicious notes and undertones of flavours. My all-time favourite would have to be the chocolate cappucino cup. Just the right size to satisfy my sweet tooth. The service is the best out of the Russian community, but below the Canadian standard, but their creations are worth the small inconveniences and that's what the stars are for. At our office, we order their cakes monthly to commemorate the individuals born during that month. I was told we tried another vendor, but then quickly came back to Chocolada, they were just that good! read more

This a quaint little Russian pastry shop. The pros would be the quality of the pastries. They are a little pricier than the bulk sales at grocery stores, but they are made out food based ingredients rather than synthesized out of sponges in a lab. The cons would probably include be the service, which is authentically Russian. And as authentically Russian service goes: "You are here to buy. We are here to sell. Who cares about the weather?". People often make the mistake of thinking they are rude. A more correct term would - blunt. If you go to enough Russian places you eventually learn to ignore it. read more

I have been coming here for over 5 years, always buy what they have on shelf (always fresh) or ask the staff to customize a certain cake for me, they usually need a 12 hour heads up and alway made orders perfect. Never ones have I been disappointed in their quality of cakes. bakery is Russian speaking while in the beginning they did not have a list of what the cake is made from until 3 years ago in English and that made my day better. Instead of asking each member what in the cake, I can look ok the paper on the side wall and understand. You won't see most of these cakes in your regular bakery. Prices are fair, all the cakes have a rich taste, they have another section where you can have a seat, have a drink and try their desserts. I always come back to this bakery. read more

Nice, average sized bakery with a small seating area. they have a variety of cakes for birthdays, small single-sized cakes, and a cute variety of honey from different locations such as New Zealand and so forth. Environment is decently clean with many staffs to greet and assist you when needed. as for the flavours, I four items, including the Napoleon and I have to say, I like it because it's not overly sweet yet savoury and good :) although this location is hidden in the far back corner of the plaza, I believe I'll be coming back :) read more

Ordered a birthday cake for my wife. She is very particular about her cake. She likes dark chocolate and coffee so the staff helped me with lots of choices . We finally narrowed down to one amazing cake ! Staff is very helpful and polite. Bakery is little expensive but totally worth spending little extra for such great taste! read more

The reason I am giving them only one star is for their really bad customer. Every time I go there I regret it because the way they treat their customers is unprofessional and unpleasant. For instance they always serve Russian customers first regardless of how long you ve been waiting. You have to beg them to take your order and there is alway no thank you at the end... so don't expect to be treated with respect at this place read more

I had never ordered from Chocolada before so I asked the girl who answered the phone, which cake was their best seller. Based on her recommendation I ordered the Napoleon cake. What a disappointment. There was hardly any custard, just dry flakey layers that fell apart when we tried to cut it with a knife. I was embarrassed to serve it. One of my favourite places to order cakes. I always have a pleasant experience and their cakes are delicious. I would suggest napoleon or tiramisu. Advisable to call beforehand and order a cake (maybe give at least 24 hours in advance) as there are not many large sized cakes on demand. read more

I only come here for the Napoleon, which is a classic, and the best I can find in the area. I tried the mango and raspberry mousse today and I did not like! Even though I always like mango mousse... it just didn't cut it for me. I find the chocolate pastry swirl in the mango mousse makes it even worse. The lemon merengue pastry, rum ball and eclairs are also good. I feel like this place needs new pastries. I haven't tried most of the cakes. Chocolada conveniently sells coffee and tea as well, which I haven't tried. Also, they sell honey and boxed chocolates. read more

Today we bought a cake Amaretto Mocha. When we cut the cake we realized that vanilla sponge cake was burned out initially and turned inside out to hide that. We should cut that burned part from each piece of the cake before serving. We would like to tell a baker who made this cake to be responsible for the job he is doing. Very disappointing. read more

WOW what a disappointment. Ive always recommended this place to people for excellent pastry. Im sure their individual portions are great, but this is my first time experiencing their full sized cake. I grew up with my love of Schmetanik, or also known as black and white cake (it has a chocolate layer on top, with many layers in between). I love it. However, the full sized cake was very dry and the layers were so thick! Usually they're very thin. Definitely was over baked. It's more so the chocolate cake base that was super dry. Whats going on? The cakes here are unbelievable. European...real cream...real chocolate...no North American icing. Try the Queen Bee cake, my favourite mix of honey sponge layers and sour cream filling. I usually get the custom round birthday cakes, I have tried almost all of them in terms of the flavors they offer, and rest assure they are the best uptown and downtown, the napoleon pastry is super delicious, this place has been in business so long, yes the customer service is hit and miss, but they are so busy I don't think they care about customer service. read more
