    Iced strawberry matcha latte
    Carol Y.

Stopped by this small bakery with a friend for a much needed cold drink to cool down in the summer heat. There is very minimal seating (most of it is outside the cafe), so we ordered an iced latte and iced strawberry matcha latte to go. Our drinks tasted fine, but I wouldn't say it was the best iced latte or matcha I've ever had - couldn't really taste the strawberry flavour either. While we didn't order bingsu on this visit, I'm not sure if I would stop by for it here since it looked fairly expensive for the portion size.

Luna Bakery is a cozy little Korean cafe that sells dessert items on top of your standard coffee drinks. One of my favourites is the injeolmi rice cake - the soy bean powder has the most flavourful nutty taste and pairs so well with the freshly cooked rice cakes. I highly recommend grabbing a box when stopping by. Service is always quick and friendly, and there is plenty of seating in the upstairs area if you're wanting to enjoy your treats while dining or or just to sit and work.

A new take on Korean rice cake. Tried the earl grey and chestnut flavour . Also the pumpkin rice cake. They were all very good. The rice is chewy and fresh. The price is a bit high for what it is. The rice dacquoise was like a large macaron, I didn't find it that special . The cream was tasty true to the flavour. But felt like eating a big cookie with a cream filling

Best injeolmi bingsu in the city! The powder was fine dust and had a strong flavour. The ice was finely crushed and melt-blended with the powder. The rice cakes were properly chewy. Overall, an outstanding and easy must-try dish. Also had the chestnut rice dacquoise which was ok - inner filling could have had a tad more flavour, outer shell could be a tad less chewy. And got the lemon ginger green tea which was refreshing. There's space on the second floor for dine-in but also saw a lot of people doj g takeout. Service was friendly, quick and helpful. Prices are what prices are these days. Overall, would definitely come back for the injeolmi bingsu!

I've been a regular at Luna Bakery since they opened. It's a bit pricey, but the presentation and variety are impressive. I especially love their traditional donuts (개성 주악), which make perfect gifts and are not too sweet. They offer both Korean rice cakes and baked goods. The upstairs ambiance is nice and quiet, with some seating available. The workers are always cheerful and enthusiastic about explaining their products, and they often have samples available.

    Black sesame bingsoo

My friends and I were craving some bingsoo after dinner and decided to come try this place out. We were a larger group so we went upstairs to their second floor for seating. Luckily, they had one larger table that could seat up to 6. FYI - you have to place your order and pay downstairs at the counter. They'll give you a buzzer for you to retrieve your own order when it's ready. I ordered the black sesame bingsoo ($17.95) and thought it was rather mediocre for its price. The rice cakes had a pleasant chewy texture to them and the ice powder was nicely ground, however I found the overall black sesame flavour to be lacking. While the first few spoons from the top layer tasted good, the overall ratio of black sesame to ice felt inadequate and I would've liked a stronger black sesame presence throughout.

Luna Bakery located on Yonge St. near Churchill Ave in North York specializes in Korean traditional desserts, mainly rice cakes! They also have bingsu (shaved ice) as well as coffee/tea available as well. I believe they previously had a store in Markham, however they have relocated to the Willowdale area. The store opened recently and has been a huge hit. I went by Luna Bakery twice during the Easter long weekend. The store is bright where lots of natural light is able to shine through the windows. It is primarily take out only although there is a table with 2 chairs near the front of the store. The rice cakes are laid out on shelves where you can pick and choose which ones to get. First time, I visited Sat afternoon where most of their rice cakes were sold out. I did end up visiting a second time on a Monday right when they opened. The store was fairly quiet and the staff were still putting out the freshly made rice cakes for the day. I opted for a brown sugar snow-white rice cake as well as ordered a flat white. The rice cake was actually still warm in it's packaging which was a nice surprise. My coffee was made at a reasonable time and I did sit inside enjoying it for a bit. The bakery uses De Mello coffee beans (a local coffee roaster from Toronto). My flat white tasted great and was made well. The vibe of the bakery is welcoming and relaxing. The staff are extremely friendly! Definitely do check out Luna Bakery if you are around the area and are craving for some Korean traditional desserts. Definitely something unique in the neighbourhood!

After grabbing a bite next door, we dropped by Luna Bakery--a cozy Korean café that's easy to miss but worth the visit. Though it's on the smaller side, the café gives off the same charm as the quaint spots you'd find in Seoul, which really adds to the experience. Service was friendly and welcoming, making it a great place to settle in. I kept it simple with an iced latte, which was delicious and refreshing. They even have a second floor if you're looking to sit and unwind for a bit. Overall, it's a nice stopover with a cozy atmosphere and authentic café vibes!

Injeolmi latte with shot of espresso~

So excited that Luna Bakery had relocated to a more convenient location! I first heard about Luna Bakery years ago when I was looking for fresh sikhye (Korean Rice Punch.) Now they have added more to their drinks menu. The sesame latte was extremely fragrant! Pro tip: add a shot of espresso! Tried the purple rice cookie because I absolutely love purple rice. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect from the cookie but I certainly didn't think it would come with tiny chocolate chips. It has an interesting texture that is hard to describe. Definitely coming back to try the other cookies!

Korean baked goods and drinks. They have many non-coffee options to suit their hours as they are open until past 10pm, and walking traffic in the area is always busy. Self-serve structure where you order at the register, grab a pager, and pick up your food at the counter when your pager rings. The Injoelmi latte was most popular in online reviews so I had to try it! It has a very nutty flavour and was a great way to top off the night as it does not contain coffee. Not particularly sweet. The crumble pie and many of their pastries feature a chewy texture like mochi. Seating is available on the first floor inside and outdoor, as well as on the second floor. It does get quite warm as the room is small and the biggest table they have seats around 7-10 depending on how close your group is willing to squeeze in. Great hangout spot, and cozy for a short date. There's a washroom on the second floor as well.

This is a modern twist on the classic traditional Korean rice cakes. They also have other pastries as well which have Asian inspired flavours as well. The rice cakes are well flavoured and I love that they have fillings inside. Also they are just so aesthetically pleasing! The bingsoo in the summer really hits the spot and is a large portion, perfect for sharing. I will say that the prices are a bit high just under $5 for each rice cake. But great for a once in a while treat. The more traditional fare can be bought nearby at the Korean grocery stores for less. The space on the first floor is very cramped but they do have additional seating upstairs!

I am a big fan of rice cakes and this place makes great rice cakes as well as other Korean desserts. The texture of their rice cakes are very bouncy and fluffy. I tried their original with a honey centre and the strawberry. The strawberry tasted lightly of fresh strawberries as it is mixed into the rice cake batter, however I think with a strawberry jam centre it might be even more delicious. These rice cakes need to be eaten on the day of bc they will lose the bouncy moist texture by the next day. Even if you steam it the next day it won't be as good as the day it was made. The original with the honey centre is my favourite of the two. (Honey white rice cake $3.85, strawberry rice cake $4.25) I also recommend their Injeolmi Bingsu. Lots and lots of injeolmi powder as well as fresh chewy rice cakes on milky shaved ice is the most delicious summer treat. I will be back to try their red bean Bingsu next time. $15.95 The rice cookie (also with injeolmi) was crispy and fragrant with the flavour of rice and injeolmi and only slightly sweet, which is exactly what I like. $3.95 The last thing I tried was their red bean bun with injeolmi powder on top. Everything they make is very fresh and should not be kept for long. The bun was filled with delicious sweet red bean and topped with injeolmi powder. $5.80 There were so many delicious looking treats that I wanted to try but haven't tried yet so I will definitely be back. If you want to sit and enjoy there is a backyard patio as well as a couple of seats at the front and 2 small tables inside.

Hmmm... my review is following below, but I have to say that there are three reviews below mine and each taught me something new about Luna Bakery. I learned one new thing from each review despite my visiting it this afternoon myself. Here are things I learned from the 3 previous reviews that I would not have known otherwise: 1- This store was previously located in Markham. I did not know that. 2- This shop is a "hidden gem." I did not know one could be located, and have a storefront, on Yonge Street itself and still be hidden. 3- This store is a "huge hit." When I went there there were no customers. Read my review with skepticism because I know as much about "Traditional Korean desserts" as a wolf does about veganism, fish knows about walking, conservatives know about science, graffiti vandals know about art and you get the picture. Seriously, all I know about Korean food and desserts is that I like to eat them... and Luna did not disappoint. Firstly, however, the store is spic and span clean, which is always appreciated. Well done. It is attractive therefore, there is pride of ownership and is also tastefully decorated. Simple lines and pastel colours dominate. A few knickknacks are on display one of which makes no sense relative to "traditional Korean desserts." See my photograph. In short, the pastry and cookies may be traditional, but the shop could not be any further from it. The shop has 1.5 seats and tables and is designed for take-out. The two girls working there were well put together, friendly and helpful. Now to the meat - but they do not have meat, be sure - of the matter. I picked up an Ingeolmi, which is pounded glutinous rice cube pieces akin to the Japanese mochi strewn with soy flour on it. The taste is addictive and similar to the Japanese kinako. This was $7 I also took advantage of the fresh pastry and picked up a $5 Dacquoise, which correct me if I am wrong is French.... hmmmm what? Regardless, the chestnut flavour worked here and made this another good choice. They also had several other flavours including Tiramisu. With the shop being so tidy and clean, the employees friendly and the items delicious there is nothing to complain about. It would be nicer if they had room to sit and more of a variety things would be even better, but that is up to them and perhaps a function of space availability and rental costs. Yet, they do serve tea and coffee so the dine-in option would make sense, right?

The pastries and mochi breads are absolutely exquisite! I tried the black sesame mochi bread--light, pillowy, and filled with a delightful little white mochi surprise. The crème brûlée almond tart was incredible too, with its thick, eggy custard and a blueberry-almond center. And the Hitotoki matcha tart? Gorgeous and just perfect. It was my first visit, and I discovered the bakery through their 2nd-anniversary IG post. I bought about $20 worth of treats and got to spin their prize wheel--and I actually won the Grand Prize: a limited-edition gold Nespresso & milk frother kit! I literally jumped for joy. Yet another reason to love this incredible bakery!

But there was no "lava" at all... just a layer of cream sitting on a thick tart base. You do get some matcha flavour, but definitely not that rich and flowing matcha sauce I saw in those online reels. Matcha Mont Blanc - Too sweet. The green noodle-shaped topping is actually made from a kind of bean paste - not much matcha taste, but had a strong bean flavour instead. And again, it was too sweet to my liking. Taro Tart - This one was good. Taro-flavoured cream on top, with taro paste underneath, then a layer of custard with mochi at the bottom. Had a rich taro flavour. Still a bit sweet, but not as overwhelming as the Mont Blanc. Overall it was not bad, although TBH I haven't really found great matcha desserts in Toronto so far.

This place was also super poppin' when I got there. It was earlish in the day around 10:30am and it seemed all the tables were pretty much taken. They are adding a dinner menu which is very exciting. Their pastries are phenomenal!!! Picked up a plum and pistachio tart, a chocolate mousse cake and an apple Danish for my mom. Plus a chocolate caramelized croissant. So much butter, and yet so good. Brought my container, which they happily used. The last time I visited this spot back in 2022, I vowed I would come back and take up space in that beautiful bay window seat. Yet I haven't followed through with that yet. One day. They also changed the name, since I was there last it was called Le Conciliabule Lab. Le Conciliabule means, "speak easy", as their website says. It was used back in the day to describe a place where people would come together and talk about everything and nothing. I can definitely say that happens here. What a beautiful concept, "everything and nothing". Now named Bisou, which means kiss. That's actually really simple and sweet. Since every pastry and any food item or beverage enjoyed here is a kiss for your tastebuds. Love it. Keep going team. You are amazing!
