I only ever come down around this way once a year, and that's for Super Smash Con. Who knew this strip existed with such a lovely cake decorating workshop? The space has plenty of tables, and delicious decorated cakes on display. I wonder if they were all customers or if the staff did some of them, hmm! I should've asked. At the counter on the back wall, you can get snacks and drinks in addition to the kits for the decorating. I didn't decorate one myself, but I observed the whole process. There are shelves of different tools, like skewers, piping bags and more. There's a frosting for every color and plenty of fondant for extra creativity. We were able to bring in food -- pizza for this occasion, and the staff were kind enough to serve it for us. The staff were super polite, efficient, and willing to answer any questions and assist the decorators! For anyone in the area that wants to do something both crafty and delicious... definitely consider Cake Time! They opened right as the pandemic began I believe... I'm glad they survived! read more

Leaving this here after no response via email from owner. I am extremely upset about the extra $60 in undisclosed 'taxes' required by the camp this year and the manner in which the issue has been handled by this business. We have been multi-child camp attendees since 2022, and I have invoices that have never been as deceptive or as outlandish as this years magic 'uncollected' tax request. I should not have paid it now that I have looked back at past invoices. Is this store under new ownership? Why was I charged $36 in fees and then another $60 in 'taxes'? I was told it was a 10% tax- which would be in line with fairfax's prepared food tax and VA state tax I assume, however, this is a CAMP and there is a labor and camp supply charge that I also assume is taxed at a lower rate than the prepared foods? How does a camp have a 10% tax rate? Also, I spent $600 this year, and already paid a $36 fee. Last year I had $900 in camp cost but paid a MUCH lower total of only $54 in fees, no added taxes. Then in 2024 I paid $726.75 for camp but only $43 in fees, again, no additional taxes. How is this year the lowest camp fee @$600 but I am asked to pay $96 in fees/taxes-- that is outrageous and deceptive. Families are on a budget and throwing out extra hidden fees is not acceptable and it is not inline with previous business practises from this establishment. The Manager or Owner should have sent prior WRITTEN communication with a detailed explanation of what occured, and what the price would be- not a phone call by an employee who is not empowered with the information or ability to handle inquiries. We were overcharged for this camp at the last minute, you snuck in hidden fees calling them 'taxes' and you are applying a food tax on camp services. Thank you to Cake Time for gifting us an afternoon of quiet, relaxation and joy in these crazy times! We booked a private event with Cake Time for my sister's baby shower and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. With our booking we were able to have the entire studio for our guests for snacks, drinks, and cake decorating time. The whole experience from booking to execution was flawless. A few things to note: + We had a small party for ten but the space can accommodate a lot more. I can see this type of event being fun for children (or tween) birthday parties, girl scout troops, mom friends or date nights. + We brought in a lot of decor but the whole space is so cute that you probably don't need anything than a few balloons to make it look festive. + Each guest will have an hour and a half to choose and decorate their cake. Our group had a mix of experience cake makers to newbies and we were all able to come home with something that we could be proud of. I made a pineapple cake, my mother made a sunflower cake, my sister made a fox cake, and my niece made a whale cake. There are tons of designs to choose from! + If you do not want to commit to an entire cake you can decorate cupcakes or cookies. + You can also purchase cakes/cupcake kits to decorate at home! The owner Amanda was very friendly and hands-on. She assisted with setup and answered all of our questions (there were a lot of them!). She was able to keep the party moving so we were pretty much all finished by the party was up. We had a similar cake decorating party at Sprinkles Cupcakes for my other sisters' shower and I have to say that CakeTime is a lot larger, cleaner and easy to work with. Parking is easy and accessible and the staff was very involved. I would not hesitate to come back again. Asked to pickup an hour earlier than her opening time and order was ready to go when we got there! Ordered red velvet, carrot cake, cookies and cream and raspberry! Red velvet and carrot cake was our favorite. Wished the cookies and cream was only in the icing part on a chocolate cupcake. However, me and my 7 year old daughter finished decorating the cake in 30 minutes. We wanted to stay longer but there was nothing more to do because we were already done. Smearing some icing, putting marshmallows and sprinkler only took 20-30 minutes. I thought the price was too expensive for such a short amount of time spent. We were told to pick out 6 items to decorate and nothing else was explained. We were also given a roller to roll the dough but there was no dough. The only items that were given were icings, marshmallow and sprinklers. Not to mention how small the cake was as well. My wife and son were out of town for a day so I spent the day hanging out with our daughter. I made a reservation here based off of the Yelp reviews. We arrived and it was pretty empty. The staff was so helpful and my daughter wanted to copy one of the designs that they have (bubble tea looking cake). The staff gave us all the colors and we grabbed the tools and supplies. Everything was so well organized and clean. When we were almost done there was a birthday group that came in and it looked like all the kids were having a blast too. The best part is that the experience wasn't overly priced. Fondant cakes are usually pricey when you have someone make them. But we got to make and design the cake (the actual cake mix was already done but you chose how you want to decorate and design it). And the staff boxed it up nicely for us. Cake Time is an amazing place! The owner was very responsive and helpful. We had our daughter's birthday party there and all of the kids had so much fun. Several even asked their parents to have their birthdays there. Cake Time took a great number of precautions to protect from COVID and we get so safe. They limited the number of people we could have there. All kids had to wash their hands upon entering. Each kid received a disposable apron and their own table to work from that was spaced sometimes more than 6 ft. apart. We got to pick our own theme, so the kids decorated llama cupcakes and cookies. Each kid picked their own color frosting and had so much fun. The instructors were clear in giving instructions, which were also shown on a big television for everyone in the room to see. The shop is colorful and welcoming. This was a our first time and didn't know what to expect. It was a quiet day with just one other family there which we liked! The young lady working that day was very pleasant and helpful. My daughter and her friend really enjoyed decorating their cakes and later when we ate it-it was moist and delicious. I visited Cake Time on Sunday, August 8th with my 12 year old daughter. We live on the West coast but we're in the area visiting family. I have been having a tough time trying to find fun things for her to do since we don't have friends here her age or cousins her age. Then came Cake Time. I found them by accident online. They are super clean, amazingly friendly (thank you Kaitlin) with excellent and affordable pricing!!! Other vendors were trying to charge $95 per cake/session. Since I wanted to do tandem with my daughter that would have cost $200 at another place. What?? Cake Time allowed me to have fun with my daughter that met my budget. We paid just $90 for two decorating sessions. They played great background music we both enjoyed, provided utensils and beautiful vibrant and bright colors for decorating. Best of all the cakes were absolutely delicious l!!! Who knew? My daughter got chocolate and I ordered vanilla. The cakes melt in your mouth., no joke. My daughter continued to thank me for taking her. Enough said. Thank you Cake Time !!!! We had my daughters 10th bday there and it was just great!!!. The place cannot be cuter, the store is just like being in a movie, painted in nice soft pastel colors and full of cute decorations and cakes! The girls could not believe how beautiful the place was, the moms were excited too. The three Cake Time girls were fun, organized, patient and just great! The kids had a blast with the help of these three young ladies! Everything was ready when we arrived, the aprons and the materials for each of the attendees (fondant, baked cupcakes, molds, roller, sprinklers, gummies.. etc). The birthday girl was in charge to make the frosting, how excited she was! The Cake Time girls made her feel special! Then it was time to listen to the teachers and then apply it. So much fun!!! lots of laughs, lots of colors, lots of faces with colored frosting... This is a fabulous idea but our experience was just okay for the cost. It was our first time and while I have decorating experience I expected some decorating tips/tricks/ideas during our visit. There were some cakes you could use for inspiration but no other assistance offered when asked about ideas. The younger girl helping seemed offended when I asked questions on just about everything. I had to ask for the tips I needed for my project and my daughter wanted help with making roses but that wasn't an option. What a great idea! I've never been to a place where I could decorate my own cake or cupcakes and had a lot of fun with my kids. They loved picking out their own colorful decorating supplies (fondant, buttercream, sprinkles, etc.) and making their own creations.
