I was driving through and had to stop, chocolate is my drug. My first sample was Bordeaux and it was amazing! Because I am a major honeycomb fan, they let me sample that as well, and it was the best I have ever had! This shop is 100% made from scratch right there behind the counter. Not too sweet and the perfect blend of ingredients. I will be ordering from them online in the future for gifts because I'm not from the area. Not a big fan of this Shop, the amount of choices leaves a lot to be desired. The candy is just ok, not the finest or best chocolate, my mother made better chocolates with bakers chocolate back in the 90s. I hate to give the such a low amount of stars, because I prefer to support local stores, but I just can't justify it with the poor quality chocolate and high prices. read more

I have to say that the chocolate is very good. The service, not so much. The gentleman that owns this establishment has been rude to myself and my daughter during two desperate occasions that we frequented his place of business to purchase chocolates. He seems to have a very short fuse and treats customers poorly. The other turnoff is he is very loud about his political views and I find that to be a total mood killer when I'm just trying to purchase chocolate! I do not need to know who you're voting for or why you think everyone should agree with you. read more

The milk chocolate + honeycomb are very sweet combinations, so i opt for the dark chocolate.. - chocolate covered pretzels - average taste but fancy wrappings.. Good for gift. Price: - expensive. These two little things cost me $23.. Its good for holiday gifts but if you want to eat it yourself, you might as well but similar chocolates from the store with 1/3 of the price. Service: - awesome. I'm originally from Belgium and have lived in the U.S. for 14 years. I have been in search of good candy and chocolates since I left my country. America has a lot of great things to offer, however good quality chocolates are hard to come by. Especially to satisfy a Belgian foodie who knows his Belgian chocolates like myself! As I drove from L.A. onto Nevada, I saw the billboard and was immediately intrigued. When I walked into the store, my inner child immediately came out. The candy beautifully wrapped and laid out over tables, the free samples, and the warm friendly greetings made me so excited! I ended up spending twice as much as I thought I would and do not regret it one bit. They have amazing sea salt truffles, milk chocolate covered marzipan, and Bordeoux pralines. I also tried their moonshine truffle which made me melt entirely. Oh my lord! The people working there are so friendly and passionate about their craft. They were more than happy to explain which ingredients they used and why, and how they make them. I'm a total chocolate geek and this was the first time someone was able to speak at the same level including the chemistry, the art, and the refined craft of making chocolates! Another nice thing they do is have these little cold pouches that are double wrapped and keep your chocolates at perfect temperature so they don't melt. Just don't leave them in your car in the sun. It took us 5 years of being in the area and noticing The Chocolate Shoppe in Gardnerville before we went in on our last visit. We are so glad we did! They have a wide array of sugar free candies that were absolutely delicious. We stayed in the shop much longer than expected because the husband and wife team that run it, along with their staff, are some of the most charming, humble, and hospitable people we found in a town full of already wonderful and hospitable people. I had an amazing experience in this store. I showed up 2 days before Valentine's Day with a fairly large custom order. Lynn was patient, helpful and got my order filled within an hour. The truffles, almond rica and bordeaux are all exceptionally delicious and each individually wrapped and labeled. Everyone I gave them to were so impressed with the high quality, fresh candy. We were on our way back to Bozeman Montana after a successful fishing trip to Bridgeport. Stop by candy sho after seeing the billboard and am happy I did. I bought peanut Clusters, almond clusters , caramels and some toffee. My son was visiting us over the weekend and he consumed most of it and took what remain home with him to Denver. We we're talking to a friend about our favorite places in the area to visit while vacationing in Lake Tahoe and she highly recommended this shop, which was perfect as we wanted to bring home some treats for our kids. It's not large, but they have a wide variety of products to choose from. We were offered multiple samples while trying to decide what to get.
