Dropped it for some pastries on a rainy Saturday morning. Got the mixed berry scone and the pistachio loaf. Scone was dryer than expected and barely sweet. Was looking forward to the icing on the pistachio loaf but that too lacked sweetness. Both were pretty basic and nothing exceptional. My partner lived in the area years ago and this was one of his go to places, so we decided to pop in and try something after many years. Upon walking in, I felt the place could use a good dusting and wipe down. The place looks like it could also use some updating. As for the food I had a Breakfast Burrito Egg, Black Bean Puree, Rice, Avocado, Slasa Roja, Boston Lettuce. Overall it was tasty, the eggs were nice and fluffy, cooked perfectly. All the flavors together worked really well. I wasn't crazy about the rice portion, it looked like white rice they threw seasoning on. The service was pleasant and fast. At 65 years old living in America's big cities...I'm a burger critic. The only fast food burger for me would be shake shack which I rate a 6/10. This my second Choice burger in 2 years(I live in L.A but my son lives down the block on Lafayette. First time I tried one last year I was surprised but, yesterday truly impressed I rate it 8.5/10 -like the Polo Bar Burger for me. This burger meat is imported from Ireland. I really don't care where it comes from as long as each bite is clean and consistently flavorful. The bun perhaps could be tweaked they provide a slightly spicy dressing on the side. I tried it with, without and mixed with ketchup. The blend works best for me. 19.95 comes with fries or greens. Laura the waitress in the back is reliably consistent respectful and a very pleasant smile. read more

Came here on a Saturday morning for breakfast and ordered the pulled pork hash after getting a recommendation that it was the best hash I was ever going to eat. The wife got an egg sandwich and a coffee. After ordering, we sat inside, watched and waited. Most folks who came in just got a coffee, but a few people ordered food and pastries as well. I was surprised at the amount of pastries available and also happy to find a gluten free option, which was a muffin. I didn't really want a muffin, but with no other option, I went for it. It was surprising to me that there were 3 other folks who came in for food after us and we were the last to be served, waiting almost 40 min for our food. Once it was ready, we grabbed a table outside in the sun and dug in. My hash was yummy and very filling, but lacked any seasoning, so it was really bland. The wife said her sandwich was good but nothing out of the ordinary to report. My muffin was truly subpar and only edible because of the crunchy sugar chunks on the top. This place is incredible for breakfast, plenty of outside seating separated from the sidewalk, with flower pots! It's all about atmosphere, service, quality, portion and price and they win 5 out of 5! The prices are unbelievable, a huge full breakfast for the price of a basic breakfast sandwich sold elsewhere. I really like this place and come frequently for their quiche and coffee but they really have a ton of options to get from just a BLT to getting premade food by the 1/4 pound from their "deli" area with things like glazed carrots and salads etc. The vibe is like coffee house since they do that too as well as like a little bakery? Its a nice place to take a seat inside or out and they have a takeout window on the side of the building so you can just order a sammy and coffee to-go. Please see the picture of my dog waiting for his dog treat (yes they have homemade dog treats) They also recently opened up a real sit down restaurant right next door thats just a great space too with great quick service and a great spot for brunch. Came in here on a busy day. There was a mix up with the drinks, which is understandable, it happens. Another customer took my drink thinking it was hers, and left. When I told the barista she said it wasn't her fault and there was nothing she could do. I simply just wanted my drink remade, so having to fight to get what I ordered wasn't a very pleasant experience. Ultimately after a bit of an exchange of words, the barista made the drink. She ended up making it with almond milk not whole milk like I ordered though so I left unsatisfied. Open to giving this spot another shot and changing my review, but they need to revise their order calling process. Maybe do order numbers instead of names. read more

I absolutely luuuuuurve Choice Market!!! I got into them while that franchised coffee shop opposite was closed due to the pandemic. I apologize Choice. I didn't know any better. Will fix this with more visits. I've been to them about five six times during the height of covid and was afraid to contaminate my phone by taking pics. Must rectify this. The staff is amazing!!!! During the pandemic management and staff thanked each customer individually. Not just with the regular old "thanks youssss" but with so much apprecilove! Like the Grammies and shxt! I in return thanked her one day for her essential service but she threw it back at me "no, thank, YOU for taking the time to support us during this difficult period." Man I wanted to cry. My friend got food poisoning from this place last week! she had the chicken sandwich while i had the portobello which was good.

This is my favorite place to order delivery from, and it has been my favorite for at least a decade now. I confess I order from them at breakfast, lunch and dinner times. They know how I like my burger and always do up the fixings just right. They're the only delivery place in the area that gets scrambled eggs perfectly fluffy (neither browned on the outside nor runny on the inside); their BLT always hits the spot; and though I know it's an afterthought for most folks their side salad with balsamic vinaigrette can be the star of a meal if you add a protein to go along with it. Their delivery guy is super nice, and if they get something wrong they will even send a replacement! (Once or twice they forgot to include bacon with my eggs; when informed of the mistake they sent Jose right back here with a huge side of bacon.) Thank you, Choice, for the ten+ years of delicious meals. You're always there for me when I can't cook for myself, and it's more appreciated than I can say. My only complaint, if you can call it that, is that wish you were open twenty-four hours a day! read more

The soup is for pigeons. I don't mean that it's so bad that it's only suitable for pigeons, I mean that the takeaway container is untreated paper and that my entire soup spilled out of the bottom onto the street before I could try it. I managed to catch some pieces of chicken before they flushed out of the bottom, and they were okay. But uh, these containers aren't suitable for soup. Eco-friendly is one thing, but if you don't have containers for soup, don't serve soup. Unfortunately this happened after walking 10 minutes to my stoop, and I didn't feel like walking back just to ask for a new soup. I also had a BLT which was decent. I have only one OCD tendency: I must wash my hands if I'm using my hands to eat; like French fries, sandwiches, an apple - and the list goes on. I was here at Choice four years ago and I needed to take the subway to get here. Once I got here I HAD to wash my hands (obviously). So when I ordered I asked where the WC was so I could clean up. I was told they didn't have one and I'm S.O.L.! Being from California at the time, it was a state law there that if you served food, you must provide a place to clean up. I walked out in a Huff (read my prior review from 2018 below). Move the clock up 4 years and my son who moved much closer to Choice told me it was excellent and well buy a couple of sandwiches "to go" and we'll wash up at his apartment. Well, my chicken salad sandwich was indeed excellent and I moved my O.C.D. 1 Star review to a new solid 4 Stars. I loved the food they are making at Choice! My son had a chicken panini that was also excellent. Their "Dirty" (that's the name of the company) purveying their potato chips were also excellent. I am more than happy to own my O.C.D. bitchy asthma, that gave these nice people that grouchy 1 Star review But, I'm wayyyyyyy more happy giving them this current well deserved 4 Star review! read more

I can't imagine that they save that much money on the muffins now being as small as the size of the Starbucks muffin across the street. I don't see the wisdom in shrinking their amazing muffins. The renovations this week are gorgeous! More space, a few tables but still the great communal table where I have had many great conversations with strangers over the years. The environment is relaxing but not fall asleep boring Zen. Music is typically "urban" or current African American pop stars, often it's 70s like the Jackson 5, right now Franz Ferdinand is playing. Now, the food. I confess that I almost always get breakfast items or danishes and they are all great. It can get crowded on weekends midday. I almost always come midday so I always get a seat. I've ordered from here several times and now visited in person as well and really enjoy it as a neighborhood spot. I've had their chicken sandwich a number of times, it's flavorful and delicious. Their turkey burger was delicious and flavorful and their fries were great. I've also ordered breakfast a couple of times from them and have consistently loved it. Their breakfast combo came with dreamy scrambled eggs and light, fluffy pancakes. The most surprising and delicious part was their berry compote butter that came with the pancakes that was incredible. Can't recommend it enough. The only small drawback is that I wish it came with more sausage, but it is delicious and I've ordered it several times. Everything is prepared the day you purchase it. The chefs are visibly cooking and baking to create excellence. The results are always wonderful. The staff is super accommodating. My beloved, late grandfather used to get their muffins and other pastries daily. This was his one guilty pleasure. The ¹whole family started patronizing. The entire menu is worth exploring. One can cozily dine in, dine al fresco (seemingly the most popular when weather permits), or have their culinary joy delivered to their home or office. Either way, you're winning when you eat their food. Oh. Nice sidebar: They sell healthy, homemade, dog treats, and there is an area outside where dogs can enjoy water and a treat. This portion of the experience never interferes with humans who are leery of dogs. A lot of people actually love seeing a dog or two in that section quietly sipping, snacking and enjoying the vibe! I highly recommend this establishment. It's a loneighborhood favorite. They've been around for about 18 years or so and have survived and thrived through much, including Covid (where they served the community).
