So this will be no average review. I'd like to paint a story for you. Date of Visit: Sunday 6/19/2016 I'm having a great weekend. Started off with a great fat boys buffet type lunch with a friend at Korea-town's Woorijip's Authentic Korean Food (you really should check that place out for both food and alc bevs) on Saturday. Afterwords, went to work, bust that out to about 11pm or so and I was gone. I ride my bike everywhere I can so I rode from let's say Grand Central Station to The Montrose in Park Slope, Brooklyn (one of my regular bars) where I met up with more friends. We drank, laugh, broke up an argument or two, pressured friends into buying each other a drink or two. Good vibes. I try my best not to stay till closing, it sort of worked. The bar closed early but we kept drinking elsewhere lmao. So now it's getting close to 5am and I'm probably drunk. Not "Wine-o" drunk but I had a completed my agenda at drinking and not needing to take the train or cab home. So I hop on my bike and begin pedaling east to head back home to Canarsie. Mind you, I told you I work in midtown Manhattan and I live in southeast Brooklyn, that's at least 13 miles total trip. By the time I got to Crown Heights I realized that i'm hungry as hell....and i'm not as drunk anymore (must have sweat it out with the uphill climb coming from Downtown). Riding up Utica Ave just coming up on St.John's and I hear some loud ass reggae/soca music. I'm thinking to myself who is playing music this loud at 5:30am, but wait....this scent hits me before I even get a chance to pinpoint its origin. Now, i've never been here before but I know this spot is usually really busy during the day. So I pull up on'em lol. Locking my bike up near by, i'm engulfed by a spicy and mouth watering flavorful concoction of jerk season infused smoke, sounds of laughter, and a strange middle aged Asian woman who was having some kind of joke session with another guy outside. Bot of them sound drunk but she was cuttin his ass up with jokes though. It was some funny ass stuff I tell you. Next to the grill is a table set up with pans of sweet buns, slices of bread, cooked jerk chicken, plates and utensils, sauces, etc. I was greeted by one guy like I was a cousin who called and said I was swinging by. With tired red eyes, he fixes someone's plate together. He seems to be enjoying the company of people just seeking a hangout and eat spot this early in the morning. I placed my order for the $7 jerk chicken and he informs me that he has some fresh chicken about to come off the grill in 10 mins. Inside the restaurant is where the sides were. Inside was one table to the right with two chairs and a guy who looked sleep in one of them (business-community relations at its best lol). To the left was this long glass counter/fridge/heater where the sides were and baked goods were and an older woman at the register. Eventually I found out that was the guy in the front's mother. She was sweet. So the guy fixed my plate and told me if I wanted to eat inside I should and just eat up before I go back on my bike journey. He nudges the sleeping guy awake and the funny thing is, he had a Guiness beer can in his hand the whole time and didn't drop it lmao. Anywho, every piece of the chicken is straight bombastic. I kid you not, I have no idea where in Brooklyn you could find jerk chicken as properly seasoned (I mean the chicken was brined in a jerk seasoning sauce BUCKET before they put it on the grill), generously handy with the spice factor which was not "I can't enjoy the food" too spicy but was more like "this is gonna hurt later but frick it because its that damn good" spicy. It was pure joy. Cooked fully and tender too. Juicy and not burnt. I would say it was definitely one of THE BEST jerk chickens I ever had, especially at this time of day. The macaroni pie, it was ok. It had a pretty decent chaddar flavor too but I never cared too much for macaroni pie. Give me a southern black folks mac&cheese any day. The cabbage weren't overcooked, not sure if they were fully cooked either but was nicely seasoned and crisp which is usually a sign that the nutrients haven't been detroyed from the plant completely. So yeah, I ate in, The guy I ordered my food with was very happy though. Just kept checking up on me. Gave me a cup for MY BEERS lmao. He was just like "aye mon look, yuh nah need tuh worry bout de cops....dem nah just gwan walk pon here n give a man a ticket in mi business. Enjoy yuhself bruda" .....and that's what the hell I did LMAO I enjoyed the hell out of myself talking to strangers, drinking guiness, eating great jerk chicken, having some laughs, listened to some great reggae/soca tunes, and at some point, I fell asleep for like 5-10 mins in the same chair that guy did. The food here is good and has the option for non meat eaters. My favorite aspect of this location is during the summer they sell jerk chicken until 4 or 5 am on the weekends. This place doesn't get a 5 star because I sometimes notice a particular employee who like to up the prices if she feels you aren't from the neighborhood. If that isn't a issue then you know where to go if you ever want jerk chicken at 3am lol read more

I Placed and order via Uber eats and my Uber driver got all the way to the store to find out the food wasn't available; they had him call me and tell me items wasn't available and because I didn't wanna substitute FISH for dry chicken, some ones rude grandmother relayed in background for me to cancel the order!!! First off, how about you come to the phone. I then called the store and the same rude grandma answers and then "puts me on hold" to call her boss and hangs up. Their coconut rolls and currant rolls (especially whole wheat currant rolls) are absolutely delicious. Their pholourie is pretty good too. Haven't tried their ice creams or cakes yet but only because every time I go in I end up with one each of the rolls. read more
