    lavender oat milk chai latte
    Andrielle G.

visited ivy cafe to write for my substack publication for a few hours. the cafe is spacious, with convenient little nooks that are perfect for solo work or a cute getting to know each other date. i had a iced chai lavender latte with oat milk that was delicious enough to double back for a second. i ordered the ivy chicken sandwich with fries and the star of the show: a side of ivy sauce. the service was chill, they don't make you feel rushed or pressured to leave at all while still being attentive. my only issue is the amount of flies floating around, it was distracting and i had to use a napkin to cover my food as i worked. fingers crossed they fix the fly issue soon because that chai latte was delicious!

Payma offered me the box upon request to advance pack away half of brunch that will potentially become my dinner

Food service etc this restaurant was expensive for a plain hamburger and onion rings in which we counted 6 onion rings for almost 7.00

The burger was fresh, juicy, and not greasy at all just really well made. The tater tots were crispy and delicious without feeling oily, which I really appreciated. The atmosphere was just as good as the food comfy, relaxed, and full of a really nice vibe that makes you want to stay and enjoy your time. On top of that, the service was amazing. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot I'd go back to!

And I gotta say, the bartender is doing work. He's the only one working and the whole place is filled up and he manages it very well. They have food and drinks, mocktails included. I love it here. It's very cozy and homey. But just remember to be courteous, that this is a business so it's okay to do work here but if you're gonna be chilling for a while make sure you're getting some drinks every hour or tipping the 'tender. Also careful with some of the hot drinks they can be really.... hot. I burnt the roof of my tongue on my hot cider drink.

The staff were super friendly as well. Loved the ambiance, very eclectic, and the record player was a nice touch. The band, Zamra, was beautiful and moving. I ordered the zaatar man'oushe with hummus with a chai, all made fresh, and it was very delicious. The chai was pretty light but had a nice fragrance.

It provides the perfect setting for Barzakh Cafe, a social club/gathering spot of sorts for the pan-Maghreb community across New York. We came for the couscous celebration on July 4th. The owner is Mauritanian, and the couscous reminded me of the ones I've eaten in the northern reaches of Senegal, with tender potatoes, carrots, and cabbage. I had been hoping for something closer to kosksi, but the dish was enjoyable nonetheless. We sat outside in the casually-laid out backyard while hearing songs blending French and Maghrebian Arabic emanating from inside. Barzakh also hosts events from outside the region, including qawwali nights and the like. It is a rare unique space in the neighborhood.
